i was excited about finally getting a nice flat iron [or at least an expensive one]. When it came in the mail, i immediately tried it out the next morning, and to my dismay, it did not work like i had expected it to. My hair has been processed many times, so that probably was the cause. But my $20 flat iron worked better than this $85 one! It merely smoothed down my wavy(a little puffy) hair, instead of making it straight. I went to the salon yesterday, and got my hair straightened after having my bangs cut. I loved the Hot tools [$50!] flat iron that they used, and am planning on getting it for my birthday, which is in a few months. I wouldn't buy this flat iron if you have processed hair, only healthy hair. I hope my review helped you! :]
Its ok i guess

I was initally very pleased because I got my order 3 days earlier than I had expected so that was a good surprise. I was very impressed with this flat iron. The best part about it is the temperature settings..you can set it on a low setting or a very high one. It also heats up extremely quickly!
Plus it's really cute!
Great!

The straightener works pretty well however, you do have to press really hard for the plates to touch. Also, the color pink is a little different from what I expected. Otherwise, it curls hair really well, better than my curling iron, and it straightens well too. I love it. :]
A Pink Little Let Down

I read the reviews, saw the pictures & was very excited about my purchase... at first. It arrived late (on backorder-- I understand, it happens), but I couldn't believe the low quality. It's a dinky flat iron that does not compare to any of the "big girl" flat irons I've had. You have to work hard to see any results -- just not worth it. On top of that, I got a squeaker... the cord makes a sound everytime I use the flat iron. It was begging for some WD-40. I'm returning it & wouldn't recommend it.
LOVED IT!! ...until it died.

ok i got my pink solia 5 months ago, and i used it every day. i absolutely loved it. i did my sisters hair a lot just for the fun of it because i liked the way it just slid so easily over the hair, i mean, you never had to redo a piece of hair!! and it was sooo smooth!! it heats up to 450 degrees... waaay more than i ever expected. it truly is great, i even named it... lol. but only 5 months after i got it, it stopped working. it wouldn't turn on, and no, it wasn't the plug. but now it's gone... so im getting the blue nano chi.

I tried everything! I live in a VERY humid area....right by the ocean! The different frizz eaze shampoos and conditioners....Suave, Pantene, Tresemme, all of them....all of the syrums....THEN I was looking on the internet for flat iron's. I looked at MANY, I read all the reviews...this one had the best reviews and the best price! My sister gave my money for Christmas instead of a present cause she knew I was looking to purchase one.... I will NEVER use anything else again. It is now May 31, 2007...so for 5 months I have used it every day, and my hair is very soft and smooth. I would recommend this product to anyone.
Broke after 6 mos

The pink one does not produce enough heat. You need to press harder for it to really work on your hair. I was not surprised when mine broke after just 6 mos. It just looks pretty cause its pink but it's not as good as the black one. What a waste. My black one still works great. Don't buy the pink one!

I had the mostly BEASTLY hair ever that couldn't be tamed by anything, except by this absolutely amazing straigtener! I tried it for the first time today and my hair looks and feels gorgeous I mean I actually have real hair now! And umm hello it's pink! And it comes with two free gifts! I usually never waste my time writing reviews for products but this one is so awesome I just had to. Oh and one more thing, I ordered this last Saturday, they had the order processed and shipped it by Monday, and two days later it was honestly at my house. And I live in Canada. Do you see any reason not to buy it? Now go ahead and do it!
love it and it comes in pink

Recieved it as a gift for my birthday, loved it right off because pink is my favorits color. Mother started giving me perms when I was 10,30years latter still getting perms and using hot rollers daily. I was so used to seeing my hair curled was not sure if I would like seeing my shoulder length hair straight.I found it easy to use and did a great job of straightening my hair. Love my new look and the way my hair feels. It takes me less time to get ready now will have more money to shop with since I will not be getting another perm.Totally in love with it

Doesn't Quite Deliver

I have found this Solia Flat Iron to be very good, but only when it is used on dry hair. It is supposed to be designed for use on damp hair also, but does not straighten as well as when it is used on completely dry hair. Unfortunately, it also snagged my hair very badly when I used it on slightly damp hair. Other than that it is an excellent product, but obviously is not designed for use on wet hair, as advertised.
Also, my experience with Folica's Customer Service was terrible. I will not order anything from this Website or over the phone ever again -- they never once answered any of my questions or even responded at all to my e-mails, nor did they even once answer the phone. I called quite a few times during regular business hours, and even left a message for them to call me back, but they never did. So I have found that ordering products from them is not at all worth it. Additionally, I did receive my free cosmetic bag; it was not the one advertised, however. Professional courtesy is more important to me than saving money.
PINK COLOR IS DIFFERENT IN REAL LIFE

I thought that I would alert those who might be buying this color because they like the cool soft pink color they see. The color of the iron in real life is a peachy pink Barbie type color, not a light pink.

+it straightens natural(coarse,kinky,curly...whatever you wanna call it) hair. It really does straighten it almost perfectly.
+IT'S PINK!!
+it heats up, and cools down quickly
-sometimes my hair gets caught in between the plates, and it gets stuck and breaks my hair.
-it seems like dirt and fuzz gets stuck to it pretty easy.
BUT OVERALL it's A REALLY GOOD FLAT IRON!! I love it.

If you're used to a Chi, don't buy a Solia!

I have been a Chi user for years, but decided to try something new when my Chi quit working. After trying the Solia one time on my hair, I knew it DID NOT compare to the quality of the Chi. If you're not used to using a Chi, you might not notice. However, I would not recommend buying this product, especially because the two flat irons are the same price. Go with a Chi and you won't be sorry!

I have used my share of flat irons. I am an African-American female, and my hair is natural/free of chemicals. I would use other irons, and my hair would puff in a few hours. When I use my Solia, my hair gets straight and stays straight, for days. I love this thing!! Buy it! BUY IT!!!
Pulls Hair
Reviewer:

Cool cause it's PINK! But catches hair because of the new "self adjustable plates" that are supposed to distribute heat evenly to your hair. Not such a great feature. You have to press really, really hard to make it grab hair properly and for it not to pull hair.
Other than that it's ok but it's a pain in the but and harder to use. Stay safe and get the black straightener! It has fabulous results!

The way it was represented on the website sounded like my hair would be asian-straight. No way. As a matter of fact it made it worse. I had to go over it with a hot curling iron to smooth it out. Joan
