I wouldn't recommend it! But if you do, be careful! I brought my pink Solia with me to Europe. It worked in most countries with a converter and plug adapter but it got VERY VERY hot! It would heat up even when the switch was set to off. Near the end of my trip, I guess the straightener decided it had enough! The glue that held the plates in melted and rendered the thing useless. This was while I was in France. I had to throw it away :( | Blinking red light?
I first got my Solia straightener yesterday and I tried it today. I tried to put it to the lower settings but it would either turn off and anything lower than 450, the red light blinks. What is going on here and should I return it for another one? Question posted by Esther Thu Aug 30 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by customer service

Read the manual... it says when the iron reaches the desired temperature, the indicator light will blink rapidly.
If you initially set the iron to high temperature (450 in you case) and later adjust to lower temperature, of course the iron will stop heating (too cool itself down). But after it cools down, it will start heating again (indicator will be on).
Your iron is normal. | What to put on hair before straightening?

Use sedu moisturizing heat protecting boost, or FHI heat hot sauce. Apply some to your hair and then wait 5 minutes and then flat iron your hair. if there is a sizzling noise when you flat iron your hair that means its too wet, so wait a bit till it's dry. | | Reply by Laurie Anne

I use Sunsilk anti - poof . It works on any type of hair. I have a terrible 20 $ Conair straightner and the cream is what makes me hair straight like the CHI . I have a dyed, poofy, frizzy mess and without the Sunsilk A.P , my hair would stay that way. Just don't ever buy Conair !! | Best against humidity?
I need a flat iron that works best against humidity; one that will maintain your hair's straightening/styling the longest. Suggestions? Question posted by Emma-Lee Sun Aug 12 2007 Submit your answer How can I curl my hair w this straightener

method 1) once the straightener's on you enclose it around the roots of the piece of hair you want curled. you then slide down to almost the bottom, and wrap the lock around the straightener then let go.
method 2) or straighten the lock, spray it with flexible hairspray and wrap the hair around the straightener. | | Reply by Katrice (lawlstheword on youtube)

All you need to do to clean the plates is to use a slightly damp washcloth and rub off the buildup. It comes off very easily. | DO U RECOMMEND?
DO U GUYS RECOMMEND THIS IRON FOR PEOPLE WITH LONG HAIR IF SO HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO STRAIGHTEN? Question posted by LUCY Mon Apr 09 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by cindy garceau

its quicker than you would imagine. just have clips ready and start sectioning off your hair..sides, back then start from the bottom up. run the heated iron down through the strand slowly, not too quickly and its done. leave it like this for 3-4 days before you have to wash your hair again. just do touch-ups around the ears if needed in the meantime. cindy | | Reply by Marissa K

I have long hair. It's almost to my waist and also somewhat wavey. I have this same straightener and it only takes 10-15 minutes tops to straighten my hair. LOVE IT | | Reply by Leahh.

I would reccomend a wider width iron for long hair, it will save you time- altho, if you have side bangs it is harder to use a wider iron- if not then go big! lol if you do have side bangs i suggest a medium sized 1. | style

I wash my hair with Nexxus Therapee and Condition it with Nessus Humictress. I follow it with Farouk Silk Therapy Smoothing Solution while it is wet. Blow dry it with an "all" ceramic blow dryer,(mine is by Hot Tools, a Tourmaline one, and honey, the compliments have been pouring in. Be sure to part the hair in small portions and smooth from the roots out to the ends. It only takes two-three strokes on each piece for light bouncy hair. The curls, if I choose to bend the curler, stay for 5 days. Longer hair should still use the 1" inch for being able to curl tight or loose. A larger flat iron is basically for straight styles and slight bends (bumping). I hope this helps. | | Reply by cindy garceau

curly hair may be different. for me, my hair is thick, straight but frizzy type once dry. once i straighten it i leave it this way for 3-4 days before i feel i need to wash it again. you dont need to wash your hair daily just because you shower daily. [hot summertime may change that a bit though] otherwise i would get discouraged if i had to go through the flattening process every day because it does involve some organizing with the clips and time straightening each section. | | Reply by Kadi

It lasts almost ALL day. The only time it doesn't last is when I sleep on it, it'll get kinks in it. | | Reply by Ashley
