This straightener is by far the best one that I've used. When I used my old straightener, I could hear it breaking my hair and occasionally my hair would get stuck in between the plates and the actual straightener, and I would have to pull out my own hair! This one is absolutely silent- almost NO hair breakage at all! :) It's also incredibly sleek, because it's only an inch wide, whearas my other one was 2-3 inches wide. I love my new one also because it goes up to 450 degrees and now I can straighten my hair in half the time!!!! (and my hair is long and goes to halfway down my back!) It's awesome, and I'm 90 percent sure it's the best design out there. I got this straightener about 18 months ago, it worked great for about 6 months, then okay for 6 months and around the 1 year mark I was begging my mom for a new one. I used to only use 300 degree setting on my thick, curly/wavy, frizzy hair, and it worked GREAT. It used to make my hair look really good, but it started making my hair look really dry, and flat, and it's thinned my hair out a ton. I now have to use the highest setting, in the 400s, to get it hot enough to straighten my hair, sometimes.. If you live in a place with any humidity, do NOT get this straightener. It's horrible to use on the east coast, but it works pretty well in Mexico. Only had it for a few days but so far so good. It left my hair smooth and silky. I used the Babyliss Ionic Nano before this one and that was actually better but it just got too hot even on the medium setting, so you can burn your face or neck if not careful. So I returned the Babyliss and got this one and although it take a tiny bit longer to straighten my hair and I have to use the highest setting, it really does work great. If I were to do re-order again I would have ordered the 1.25 inch Solia one. I really prefer a thicker iron, this one is quite thin and I don't know if that contributed to it taking longer to straighten. So I do recommend a Solia to anyone looking for a decent flat iron. I bought this iron in October of 2008 but it stopped working on June7, 2009. Thank God for the one year warranty! Even though I threw out all my info, I called Folica and they gave me the information I needed to get a replacement straightener! I'm just waiting for the new one now. when i got this straightener it was one of the best ones i have ever had! i've had it for about a year and a half now, and my hair always got really straight, and never fried by this flat iron....the past couple of weeks though, it has not been turning on right away and spazzing out on me, until today, it just died and wont turn on at all! so if you dont mind replacing your flat iron every year and a half, this is a great flat iron...if you want one that will last, keep looking!
