The Solano Sapphire Flat Iron is great. It leaves my hair super straight, soft, and shiny. I live in Miami and humidity is always a big issue but not with this flat iron, it works wonders. You can't go wrong with this iron, it worth paying the $89.00 dollar and the best part about is that shipping is free.
Thanks Folica - Your service is excellent.

I have tried so many irons and nothing beats this classic. Yes, it is a bit big, but you can do bigger sections of hair quicker. It's the biggest secret weapon in the fashion and film industry! The comb is what makes you get such a smooth result. It helps get out the kinks as you iron, something other irons don't have. Wonderful for quick jobs! I have had mine for about 4 years and never had a problem with it working or sparks like others have written. I've dropped it and abused it at times and it still keeps on trucking! I also got the small one for traveling....LOVE IT!
Great but short lived

I got this straightener about a year and a half ago and it did a wonderful job at first. After about a year, though, it seemed to take much longer to heat up and recently the wire has been shorting. Still, I think the money has been worth it and I'll probably buy another.
I love the extra-smooth plates---it gets EXTREMELY HOT

I bought this iron a few months ago. So far, I really like it. The plates are MUCH smoother than regular ceramic irons that I've tried. I am a hair stylist and I use this iron on some of my clients. The only thing is, I've noticed it slightly burns the hair on the ends. However, I realized that by not minimal pressure, the ends won't burn but it will still straighten nicely. Overall, it's a great iron and I would recommend it for the professional hair stylist.
I'v had it for about 4 years

I have had this iron for probably four years and it still hasnt fallen apart. for those of you who have said that it spits balls of fire and loses bolts, you probably throw it around and dont take care of it. i like it and have had no problems with it.

I have curly hair and the humidity in south florida is pretty intense. This iron works wonders that last until you wash your hair out. It leaves the hair stick straight and super shiny. I would recommend it to anyone. I am however on my second iron because my first one gave out after about a year, but it is definitely good enough for me to buy another. Rating this product based on ability to staighten, take away frizz, and maintain the effects, I would have to give it excellent reviews.
I loved it, but it broke

I have had this straightening iron for a little over a year. This morning, I heard a huge pop, and a little ball of fire came off of it. Not too safe I don't think. Anyway, I would love to tell you to get it, but only if you would LOVE to burn your house down.
Very Good Iron

My best friend is a manager of one of the top salons in the country, and got me this iron after I got the Japanese Hair Straightening done. It straightens my hair better than any iron I have ever used so far, even now a year and a half later with all of the new growth and waves that have come in. But, the iron is big, heavy and unweildy. Very hard to maneuver. Since it is so clumsy and gets so hot, I have occasionally burned my forehead with it, which causes a big sore and scab that takes weeks to heal. Also, my hair has been getting caught in the plates. I am looking at this site, and I think my next iron will be the Sedu based upon the reviews it got and the fact that it is light and easy to handle.
problems happened after having it only 6 months

i had this straightener for 6 months. my hair is thick and long and wavy, it worked well at first. after a short amount of time, the bolt fell out, thus completely runing the straightener, ( just like i read in other customer reveiws - take a hint -- it will happen to you! ) and the plates lost so much of their heat. i have owned so many cheaper irons that worked better. however, i definitely think although the iron is cheap , spend a little more and get something better like the bion, ( solia too) . the solano's one advantage is how smooth the plates are; other than that the power to tame frizzy hair (and keep it straight!!) just isn't there. ( especially if you aren't willing to replace it anytime soon)
Love It!

Just got this iron about 3 days ago and I love the way my hair looks and feels. I have been getting compliments on my hair and people even think I have changed my style. This iron does straighten your hair much better than others and it does look just like I came out of the salon. I will agree with another review; the handle does feel a little clumsy and takes some getting used to holding. My previous iron was by Hot Tools and the handle was better contoured to the shape of your hand.
A+ Iron

I've tried many irons in the past to straighten my hard-to-tame, thick, ultra-wavy locks...HAI, Hot Tools...but nothing compares to the Sapphire! After trying a friends, I knew instantly that I had to get it....it's a little big-at first, awkward to handle, but after a few times, you get the hang of it and you'll love it! It clamps down gently on your hair and SMOOTHES IT until perfect...no frizz!

Just got my Solano Sapphire, i have never owned nor used a flat iron before but couldn't stand the instant frizz and bozo look when it gets humid out every summer. So i bought this after reading about it in numerous beauty magazines. I love the way my hair looks, straight and shiny. I blow out my hair first then, use the iron with a protection spray & gloss spray, and i get great results. Downside-the iron weighs alot and took me about a week to master the use of this iron without burning my hands.
I've had it for 2-3 years

It's a great product. Much better then using a large curling iron to straighten. My sister bought one and I used it. I loved it and got one.
The downside is that something happened with the wire and it shorted. It was within the year and I spoke to someone at customer service. I shipped it and they fixed it.
Afther that the bolt popped out and I am using a hair tie to hold the Sapphire together.
Overall it works well to straighten. I have wavey curly (frizzy) hair and I love to have it straight it straightens very well.
My next big hair purchase is a ceramic flat iron but I will wait on it till my Sapphire dies completely.
too large to maneuver

i love solano irons - BUT the one i had previously died within a year of sporatic use. i ordered this version and it's just too large (the 2 and 1/4 inch kind) to maneuver. the handle is really wide and just not easy to style with. it's awkward. i'm exchanging it for the 1 and 3/4 version instead.
folica is a GREAT company- and has been very easy to work with. the product arrived in two days, and they handled my exchange request quickly and respectfully.

My hair stylist suggested this brand of flat iron and it is fantastic. The iron heats up very fast and the results are excellent. I have very thick hair and owned a very inexpensive iron found at a drug store. The results of that iron compared to this one do not compare. My hair looks like it does when I leave the salon.
Side note, I was really pleased with Folica as well. I ordered the iron in the evening and it arrived at my door in the am the day after. Wow, what service!
loved it, but.........

I loved my Solano, but it died after one year of limited use. Now I'm wondering whether to try Solano again, or buy another brand such as Chi.

I have extreamely curly hair, and it used to take me over an hour to straighten. With the Solano straightener I can get my hair straight in less than 30 minutes.
This Flat Iron is Awesome!

I dont think that i have ever had a better flat iron, although some people may prefer ceramic ones, they dont always do the job so well. If you know how to use the sapphire iron, it won't burn your hair, and you will be amazed with the results.
