I've used this iron for a few weeks now and there are a few things that i notice that just aren't all "that". One of them is when I pull my hair thru it, it snaps on the end of the iron and i think i actually have more hair being pulled out than when i used my regular ol' remington flat iron - so that kinds sucks. The other thing is that there's no temperature gauge and sometimes the heat feels too low and i have to go over certain areas more than once. the directions say that there's a temperature gauge that you can adjust but heck if i've been able to find it! either that or i'm just reading the directions wrong. either way, those are the only two things i don't like about the iron. for the price that it is and for how often it snags my hair, i don't think i'd buy it again. I'm hoping at some point, the iron will get enough "hair grease" on it to smooth it some and maybe that will stop the snagging on the ends. who knows. I haven't yet had a chance to check the dual voltage portion yet.. i still have a few weeks before we head to germany.. i'll report on that when i get back from the trip.

I purchased the Solano Sapphire Flat Iron specifically for my upcoming trip to London. It's dual voltage and I thought it would be great for travel. I tried it out before the trip and haven't stopped using it since. It has now replaced my all-time favorite, the Maxi-Glide, which I have raved about non-stop since its purchase. I have very long, thick, naturally wavy hair which can go berserk at any moment, especially through humidity. In an earlier review it was mentioned that the detachable comb caused damage to hair. If you add a few drops of Biosilk, or any other silicone based hair oil or gel, to hair, comb through, and with each section flat ironed, make sure to brush or comb through any tangles, the detachable comb will absolutely not cause any damage. This Solano Flat Iron makes my hair very sleek, and the sleeker, the shinier. It even retains this smoothness through a night's sleep. It is definitely worth every penny. You'll love it.

wow this straghtener is absolutely AMAZING!! normally with a l" iron it takes me about an hour or more to straughten my hair, but with this one took about 15mins to straighten it.... i have extremely thick hair and i never wear it down because its so out of control ..... so now im going to wear my hair down all the time!!
i would 1000000% recommend that people buy this solano straightener because its awesome!!!

This is my second sapphire. I have frizzy hair that is unmanagable. I have tryed all kinds of irons and the sapphire is the only one that can tame my out of control hair. It even keeps my hair straight in bad weather (and the humidity I face every day living in Florida). I am 100% satisfied and all my friends love it too.

I have nasty frizzy hair and this is the only iron that can control it. It stays straight, even in bad weather. I highly recomend this hair iron.

I had the original Sapphire iron since 1998 and it lasted almost 8 years. Best iron out there, well it broke!!! I purchased a new one, and it is completely different. I am not sure when they changed it, but I don't like it at all compared to the old one. I can never understand why they always change the good stuff. It runs through my hair like sand paper. It did make it straight, but it didn't last through the humidity or even laying on it, like my old one did. I wish Solano wouldn't have changed their product... I would have stuck with them for years to come. I now purchased a Sedu, and it is so much better.. I just hope it can last as long as my sapphire did!!

This is my 2nd sapphire hot iron I've bought over the past 8 years. I love it and trust it, even in muggy weather hair stays straight. I ordered this product and got it in 2 days, great service Folica!

I have now had this straightening iron for 6 years and it is still going strong. I have tried friend's straighteners (chi, ceramics, etc.) and not been even close to as happy as I am with the solano. I LOVE THIS STRAIGHTENER!!!!! All my friends that have gotten ready at my house and tried it out end up buying it as well. I hightly recommend this straightener to anyone!!!

I used to use the Hot Tools Iron but decided to put some money into a better one once my Hot Tools iron died. I love this Iron. My friend had this iron and once I tried it I knew I had to get it. At first I though it was heavy but now that I got the hang of things I am very comfortable with it. The travel case comes in handy too. I would recommend it to anyone.

This is a great iron. I've had it for four years and it's still working great. I took out the comb (it's easy to remove) and it works a lot better on my wavy hair. The previous comment about burning your face needs to be noted. It is hard to get too close to the hairline and I have burned myself several times. The ear burns hurt the worst :).
The travel pouch is a must have!

I've been using this iron for years and the store I bought it from doesn't sell it anymore :( So i searched EVERYWHERE because this iron is so amazing. I was scared to buy it off of a website. I got this iron delivered to me the NEXT DAY that I ordered it. This iron is amazing and it's great for thick hair. I have used this product for many, many years and it has never failed me. I reside outside of the US in a high humidity area and travel often to Europe which makes the dual voltage feature a godsend. No need for converters! I am so pleased with this product I have given it as gifts to special friends.

This is a high quality straightener that was recommended by my stylist. My hair is naturally curly and very thick. She can straighten my hair in about 5 minutes with this tool. It takes me about 10 minutes. It works great and I'm glad that I splurged on it. I would only change a few things. It is a bit heavy and cumbersome. Also, because there is no protection from skin burns, it isn't great for working around your face or close to the hairline. I use a smaller straightener for doing my bangs. I've burnt myself a few times with the Solano Sapphire. Ouch. Still, a great straightener and my hair looks and feels healthy and shiny.

I acquired the recommendation for this flat iron from two of my friends. I had recently bought a flat iron, and was not satisfied with the results, so I thought to buy a new one. This straightener not only makes your hair straight, but it gives a shine, softness, and look that I have never achieved from a flat iron before. I was very satisfied with the product and the company of Folica.

They are really easy to use and straighten hair really quick. Dont have to go over the same piece of hair twice and the results are very straight and shiny.

Previously, I had a smaller sapphire iron and I liked it a lot. But, when I saw this one, I knew I had to get it because I already knew that this brand works well and with the bigger flat iron size, it would take less time to straighten my thick natural curls, Hawaiian hair. It works very well and I recommend this iron to anyone who straightens their hair.
Too big to hold

Although this product has the capability of working really well, it is too big for my hands. The handles are too big and too far apart. Once I get my hand on the handle, the iron is already partially closed and then I have trouble getting my hair in it. I wear women's "Large" gloves, so anyone with smaller gloves would really be in trouble.
