Money Well Invested!!
Reviewer: Kalah from Chadbourn, NC   2009-06-18

I rate this as the BEST flat iron EVER!!! I'm ordering another one today because I woke up this morning and was about to get ready for work and switched on my flat iron and it has finally died on me. Needless to say, I have used it everyday for the past 7 years! It never broke, nor did the plastic melt. I wrap the cord around mine and put it up all the time, so the only thing I believe that brought the death of my flat iron was a short in the cord where it actually runs into the iron. They've actually come down on the prices also. Awesome!!

Nice and Sleek

I just bought this iron and just received it yesterday. I used it for the first time this morning. At first, it was kind of hard to use because I have smaller hands. Once I got used to the iron, I began seeing the nice sleek look that I was hoping for. My hair dresser has used this same iron for the past 4 years and I loved my hair every single time she used it. I think it takes some getting used to if you normally use a smaller sized iron, but it seems like it is doing the job.

It makes a BIG difference..

I bought my 1st flat iron in Italy. When it died on me, I thought I would too. I found the SOLANO Model 11/210 1 3/8in on-line and truly love it. I have NAPPY hair (you'd never know), that looks shiny, straight and soft. I it use on my way out to work in the morning no more than 6 mins (timed)and get compliments from passers-by all the time. I went on an international trip recently where the voltage is 220; I put an adapter on the plug and that was that. I DO recommend the Solano flat iron highly. A couple of tips: hold the thinner of the 2 handles on the top (right hand) comb straight out until the (almost) ends and curve in a bit. Start by combing hair forward and start at the base working your way to the top center, then the sides, to the front. Hope this helps you as much as it has me!!!

Meh - I'm over this flat iron

I've used this flat iron for 7-years, mostly because I didn't know any better that there were other better types of flat iron. My issues with this flat iron are: 1. Split end city. This iron will rip your hair up because of the hair eating hinge and the actual plates that tend to grab tight and offer little slickness for your hair to glide through. 2. It's heavy and frumpy to deal with. 3. These things break, although I have seen reviews for other brands having way shorter life spans and since all I've ever used is this brand, maybe I just don't know. But the last two have broken in the exact same fashion - they are made entirely of plastic and the plastic around the hinge becomes dry and brittle and completely snaps leaving the top plate just hanging by the inner wires. This seems to happen every 3-years. 4. There's no heat control. Pros: 1. This thing travels in my suitcase across continents. It hangs out in padding in airplane cargo ... with all the travel I guess 3-years before the plastic crumbles is better than I give it credit for. Although maybe I am packing it safely and maybe other brands would travel well too? 2. I like the comb on the end of it. Makes it easy to straighten hair. 3. The tip is made so you can grip it tight without burning your finger tips.

Did the job

I have used many flat irons from Hot Tools, to Chi, to Sedu and this has been my favorite so far. I have baby fine frizzy, fly-away hair and this met my every need. I give it an A.
