I have fine, frizzy very curly hair. I used to blow dry my hair as straight as it could get, then use a flat iron to get it the staightest. Yet about an hr. later my hair would be frizzy wavy and curly again. Ive probably owned over 20 flat irons before the Sapphire iron. I purchased the Sapphire iron from my hairdressers during my grade 8 grad. My hair looked so healthy, shiny and staight I had a hard time convincing people I have natuarlly curly hair. It just died a few months ago when I was on vacation! Lasted me 11 yrs. Best darn flat Iron hands down. I rate this as the BEST flat iron EVER!!! I'm ordering another one today because I woke up this morning and was about to get ready for work and switched on my flat iron and it has finally died on me. Needless to say, I have used it everyday for the past 7 years! It never broke, nor did the plastic melt. I wrap the cord around mine and put it up all the time, so the only thing I believe that brought the death of my flat iron was a short in the cord where it actually runs into the iron. They've actually come down on the prices also. Awesome!! I just bought this iron and just received it yesterday. I used it for the first time this morning. At first, it was kind of hard to use because I have smaller hands. Once I got used to the iron, I began seeing the nice sleek look that I was hoping for. My hair dresser has used this same iron for the past 4 years and I loved my hair every single time she used it. I think it takes some getting used to if you normally use a smaller sized iron, but it seems like it is doing the job. I bought my 1st flat iron in Italy. When it died on me, I thought I would too. I found the SOLANO Model 11/210 1 3/8in on-line and truly love it. I have NAPPY hair (you'd never know), that looks shiny, straight and soft. I it use on my way out to work in the morning no more than 6 mins (timed)and get compliments from passers-by all the time. I went on an international trip recently where the voltage is 220; I put an adapter on the plug and that was that. I DO recommend the Solano flat iron highly. A couple of tips: hold the thinner of the 2 handles on the top (right hand) comb straight out until the (almost) ends and curve in a bit. Start by combing hair forward and start at the base working your way to the top center, then the sides, to the front. Hope this helps you as much as it has me!!!
