great product, crappy service from Solano

I am definitely impressed with the quality of the product... now that I have a decent hair dryer that isn't cracked. I ordered this hair dryer online just after Christmas, and was pumped when I got it about a week later. I was excited until I opened it up and found out that the product was dead in the box (meaning, there was a manufacturing defect). I found out that Solano wanted me to pay to ship it back to them so that they could send me another one. This didn't seem right to me, considering it wasn't my problem, and considering the fact that I live in Canada, it was going to be expensive. I felt that the way Solano dealt with my problem was less than professional, and although I do enjoy the hair dryer, because of my experience with the bad service from Solano I will never order from them again. Be careful when ordering from Canada, it doesn’t seem like Solano cares much about their northern clientele.

Real good hair dryer, but it's easy to burn yourself on the platinum part. I like it though.
Love It!

Great hairdryer! Dries my hair so quickly and doesn't leave frizzies! Makes it shinier, too.

This was my second Solano Platinum hair dryer purchase from Folica and I'm pleased all the way around. The first one lasted for 3+ years. It didn't completely die, but it was time for a new one.
I have thick curly hair which I blow out straight and as many of you know, this is a timely and tiring process. This hair dryer gets very hot and dries my hair quickly. I can't remember how long it took with previous hair dryers, but I will continue to purchase this product again and again.
Air leaks from switches

I have just had the Salono Platinum Hair Dryer for over a month and I am very disappointed that cold air leaks from where the switches are. This is somewhat irritating when you pay so much for a hair dryer.

Both my sister and myself agree the hairdryer is the most powerful, however, we both have burned ourselves multiple times from the metal nozzle! It gets extremely hot and I have one big burn from it on my forehead from when the dryer touched my skin and a few on my arm, hopefully they won't scar, seems like this is a major defect in the product and there should be a serious warning on the product package.
Concorde of Hairdryers

I can't remember when I bought my Solano Platinum but it must be at least 2-3 years old and I have never had any of the problems I read on this site. Although I did find it heavy in the beginning, you do get used to it and for me there is no going back (any other hairdryer feels like a tinkertoy). This is definitely the supersonic concorde of hairdryers and I'm very happy with the quality so far (I use it 4-5 times a week for 15 minute intervals).

I'm on my 3rd solano platnum hair dryer in six years... as a professional stylist of 14 years, I have never found a dryer that dries as fast and smooth with the gold nozzle attatchment. I get stellar results for a more natural finish when not used in conjunction with a flat iron, but rather a large round boar brush.

I just received my dryer last week and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It does get hot on the nozzle end but it really does a great job on my hair. I have very thick and course hair so I tend to go through those department store blow dryers in a year or so. I'm hoping to have better luck with this one. Thank you Folica for your speedy shipping and customer satisfaction!

I bought it in Dec. 2001, and it just now burned out on me which is Aug. 2005. I use it at least 4 times a week for about 35 mininuts straight non-stop without turning it off. I tried the Super Solano and it did not rank up there with the Platinum. I just bought another Platinum today and hope it works out the same for me.Love the intense heat without the the power of the air flow blowing my hair everywhere without control.

I'm a professional hairdresser and this is by far the best dryer I've ever used (even with the weight issue) smooths and dries quickly, polishes and lifts, cool shot is placed perfectly. I used this dryer at least 5 hrs a day 5 days a week and it lasted for over 2 years. For professional used it's great, for home... BE CAREFUL

I blow dry my hair 6-7 days a week on high for about 30 minutes. After 9 months, this hair dryer broke, but was fixed under warranty. However, after 2 years and 3 months it finally fell apart. The black plastic broke (I guess from the heat) and the back fell off. It was a great dryer, it dried my hair quicker than cheap store models, it lasted longer (most cheap $20 dryers last about a year for me) and my hair always looked so much better than when I used the cheap conair dryer. However, the metal would get extremely hot (I burnt my forehead once, big red mark, no scar) and the concentrator ALWAYS fell off (SO FRUSTRATING). I dealt with the issues while it lasted, but I won't buy it again.
Too heavy

This hair dryer is too heavy to use, although it does supply a ton of power it is too cumbersome. After only six weeks it broke. I would not buy another one.

This hairdryer is heavier than most but that aside
I've been using this dryer for 2yrs and it only broke once, (which was fixed under warranty). Not bad considering I spend about 15-20 min 6-7 days a week blow drying my hair straight. Before getting this Solano I used to go thru about 4 Conair hairdryers a year. So in my opinion it is worth the $100 price tag.

The dryer has lots of power but is extremely heavy and cumbersome to use. It broke apart after 6 months, and
is definitely not worth the price.

Frustrating

It can dry your your hair quickly with professional results. However, I feel this dryer has a serious design flaw. The metal gets so hot, it shrinks the diameter of the dryer, causing the concentrator attachment to fly off and hit you in the head. For the $100.00 price tag, you would think they could design a dryer that keeps the attachments, attached!
Pretty Good

I was a little disappointed with the fact that I'm not a professional and I only used the dryer once to twice a week and it barely lasted a year before breaking down. The dryer is also a bit on the heavy side. I must say that it did do it's job and the heat intensity was great.
