Let me start off by explaining my hair. It is coarse, wavy, and about two inches past chin-length,as well as layered, which makes it flip out, which I hate. Recently (about a month and a half ago) I decided I was done with my crappy Revlon flat iron that I had gotten for about thirty dollars at a local Target. So I started searching Folica for a better brand, and after researching the Sedu and reading hundreds of enthusiastic reviews, I ordered the 1.5 inch Sedu. When it arrived, I was floored. It makes my hair so soft and so straight! Here is what I do, and what everyone should do for beautiful hair:
1. Wash your hair with a good shampoo and conditioner. In my opinion, you don't need to buy "smoothing" shampoos because it's what you put in your hair after the shower that matters. So long as your hair gets clean and moisturized, I'm happy. 2. After the shower, very gently brush your hair out with a comb. You do NOT want your hair snagging or becoming in any way tangled while you flat iron. 3. Apply a dime or nickel sized amount of CHI Silk Infusion for medium to thick hair, and the same amount of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum for thin hair. Comb again. 4. Blow dry hair as completely as you can. If your hair is naturally straight, let air dry for about 3-4 hours. 5. Section hair with clips, making sure that you don't snag your hair in the process. 6. Flat iron small sections of your hair at a time, running over the section as many times as necessary for that bone-straight look. Start at the lowest temp. your flat iron has, and work up until it starts to really make your hair straight and soft. Otherwise you risk the temp. being too high and burning your hair to a crisp. Make sure you brush through each section before ironing, to avoid snagging or tangles. 7. When your whole head is done, add a tiny bit for Silk Infusion or Skinny Serum to finish the look off (careful not to get it near your roots - instead use most of the serum at the tips of your hair). Another option is to use some light working spray to finish the look off - this will often take some of the softness from your hair, but it will also get rid of flyaways. I like to use CHI Shine Infusion, because it is so light and it actually WORKS!! 8. Look like a movie star!
