I have been trying to find a way to transition from relaxing my hair to wearing it natural. And I found my answer! Now I can go back and forth between curly and straight hair with no problem. And I won't have to over process my hair. Any African American women who are looking to do the same should definitely give this a try. You won't regret it.
I just washed it with Motions conditioning shampoo, then used their deep conditioner. I added a little Frizz-Ease while it was wet, blow dried it,then of course...flat ironed. When I finished, I added a little more serum just for my own personal preference.

When I was younger, all I did was fight with my hair. I hated my curls and just wanted to have 'normal' & pretty straight hair like all the other girls. By the time I got to high school I finally figured out what my curls liked and needed to look good and just let it go natural. Now I love my curls but sometimes it is nice to have a different look so I would fry my hair straight with a $30 ceramic iron from Wal Mart. It worked alright, besides the fact that it gave me terrible split ends, an awful burnt hair smell, and caught/ripped tons of hair out.
I finally decided it was time to invest in a GOOD iron. After reading TONS of reviews on the CHI, Solia and Sedu, I took a chance and went with the Sedu. The reviews made it look great and there was a money back guarantee, so what the heck? After only 2 days, I had my new Sedu and WOW what a difference. No more burnt hair smell, no more ripping and pulling, no more dry unnatural looking hair!
My hair is fairly thick and has a dry, mixed-race curl to it. It's been through a lot of damage... from bleaching to cheap products, but with the Sedu, you can't tell! All you see is healthy looking, shiny, straight hair. It stays straight for days without getting too oily and I only have to touch it up after sleeping on it. (Which takes about 10 minutes.)
I get so many compliments that I have started wearing it straight more than I ever did before. I love my Sedu and tell everyone about it, it is the perfect product for me!

when i first looked on folica.com for a new straightener, i was looking into the CHI. after reading the reviews, i decided not to get it because many of them said it broke in less than a year.
i looked at the top straighteners here and found the SEDU. i was skeptical at first, but looking at the amazing reviews, i decided to try it.
it came in just 3 days! i was so excited when it came that i used it right away. i had flat ironed my hair that day, so it was already pretty straight. but just after one use, i fell in love. it made my hair so much smoother and silkier. it didn't look damaged and didn't pull my hair like my old flat iron. also, it kept my hair straight all day which was a HUGE bonus!!!
overall this product was worth the $116, and i am recommending it to everyone i know! THANKS SEDU/FOLICA!!!!

After reading all the reviews I decided to get this iron and I have never been so blown away by a product!!!
1. It used to take 3.5 HOURS to straighten my hair and it would still frizz up a couple of hours later. With my Sedu, I spend 30-45 minutes and my hair is straight for DAYS!!!
2. You don't need any "smoothing" products because the Sedu does all the work. The only thing I use is a dime-sized amount of Frizz-Ease Thermal Protection Hair Serum to keep my hair healthy. I HAVE used it on "naked" hair just to see how gentle the Sedu would be and my hair was still silky smooth with no burning, breaking, or pulling.
3. The Sedu is INCREDIBLY lightweight (something I wasn't expecting) which is GREAT for long hair like mine.
So, BUY THIS IRON!!! It's worth EVERY PENNY!

This is by far the BEST flat iron I have ever used. I absolutely LOVE IT! My hair comes out soft, shiny, and oh sooo silky! And it only takes me 10-15 minutes max! I can't stop running my fingers through my hair! I have tried other brands including CHI and FHI, but none of them compare to the Sedu Original Model. I have also tried the new Sedu Revolution, but it pulled and snagged my hair sooo much that I had to return it. I only straighten my hair, so the Sedu Original Model is PERFECT because I don't need it to curl. Although, I have seen people make waves with it, so I may give that a try in the future.
By the way, for all of you who are wondering about the durability of Sedu flat irons, you'll be happy to know that they changed the power cord. It's no longer a swivel cord (which was why the cord would short). Instead it's a thick, strong, and straight cord that doesn't move. SO GOOD!
FYI: In my pictures, I used CHI Silk Infusion before flat ironing.

I've always wanted straight hair even if only part of the time but back in the 80s the straightening irons that existed did nothing but give my naturally mixed (I'm half European and half Jamaican) curly hair a whole lot of damage and frizz...Needless to say its been since way back then that I last attempted it. When I was reading the reviews here I decided to buy this iron and give it a try and WOW!! As soon as it arrived I was trying it out and not only did it turn out FABULOUSLY straight but it was so soft AND it only took me 40 mins (I'm a lot quicker at it now though LOL).
Never thought I'd see the day where I would have pin straight super soft hair! This iron ROCKS!! AND the shipping was super fast too which of course is a bonus for me since I have pretty much zero patience when it comes to waiting for things LOL
Finally have got the best straightener ever!

So i got this straightener for Christmas and it was exactly as i thought it would be! PERFECT! I had read reviews for months and months about the sedu and decided i wanted it. My hair is not so wavy or curly, but is thick in the back and this straightener makes my hair soft, shiny, smooth and very straight.
I would recommend this to anyone. i have used the chi, and it takes me 2 HOURS to straighten my hair when the sedu take 12 MINUTES.
my hair is in great condition and i have very little breakage and split ends compared to my old straightener.
i honestly am going to say, if you can not afford this one, i used the Remington wet2straight straightener (NEVER straighten hair wet by the way) and it was amazing, pretty much the same as the sedu, but it does horriblly damage your hair after a few months.
but anyways, for a 15 year old in high school, my hair always looks exactly as i want it and i will never go back to any straightener. im hooked to the sedu. it is WORTH THE MONEY you will NOT regret it!

When i first bought this iron i was pretty skeptical, as most of the reviewers complaining about their "frizzy, nappy" locks had practically straight hair compared to mine. I'm of Dominican & Bahamian heritage so my hair is extremely thick & curly & pretty much does what it wants. Before i found the sedu it would take hours of blow-drying with a relaxer to get my hair straight, & even then it wouldn't last. I gave up relaxers a few years ago but wanted a bit of versatility with my look, so i took the plunge & ordered a Sedu. Let me tell you, this thing is a miracle worker! I run a natural bristle brush in front of the iron & my hair is as smooth as silk, & super shiny. It doesn't pull your hair out, doesn't burn & doesn't leave it stinking like salon after you're finished. On top of being awesome at hair taming, it's super sturdy! i've dropped it on my hard dorm bathroom floor many, many times & it still works like a charm. Sedu is awesome. I'm thinking about buying another one just because i love the first one so much. BUY THIS IRON.

At first I was skeptical,like every other african american, that this product wasn't going to make my hair extremely straight because of my coarse hair. And man, I can tell you now I was really worng! This iron takes my frizz away and my hair glides through the iron like butter, I couldn't believe it:) I want everyone that goes to this page to purchase the Sedu from Folica, I promise you won't be disapointed:)

After reading almost all the reviews on this iron I couldn't help but try it for myself. I bought it at Ulta, and when I got home and plugged it in it didn't work.... no heat!! So I took it back an exchanged it for another. The second iron worked. I couldn't believe how silky and shiny my hair was after using it, and I didn't even need any product in it to get it this way. Trust me! It is money well spent...... My hair didn't burn, it just bounced, and was beautiful..... See my photos if you don't believe me:^)

this is the best electric flat iron i have purchased. As a professional hairdresser I'm telling you it works so great and I have gone through quite a few. It doesnt snag the hair and the end results are so smooth. A novice doing it at home, would look like they got their hair done at a professional salon. I posted pics of my cousin who has very thick, and difficult to manage hair and it produced a miracle on her. I recommend it highly!

It only takes one stroke for me to get my hair straight with this iron. I love how light weight and easy to hold this iron is. It gets hot quick and plates are smooth on my hair. I like the flexibility in temperature control as well (versus there being only a hi and low setting).
My straight hair "after pic" is the only one I have on my PC right now. It really doesn't show my hair off too well, but I hope you can get an idea. I think it came out great!

I have curly hair, and for the past 4 years have been using a Babyliss ceramic flat iron. It worked well, right up until yesterday when it wouldn't heat up anymore! So I went on the web and did some research. It came down to Sedu and Chi. I bit the bullet and got the Sedu after reading all the reviews, and I am so glad I did!! I ordered it online from Folica.com and got it the next day! It worked like magic, and I got so many compliments! Best purchase I've made in a while! I'm from Canada, and only a handfull of Salons across the country carry Sedu, so I'm glad I found Folica.com

i'm mixed w/black & white.. & it's soooo hard for me to find a straightener that works! i've gone through tons of no good straighteners. i always end up spending $40 @ the salon whenever i want my hair straightened. my boyfriend suggested buying me a straightener for valentine's day .. we got 2 day shipping [early present!] & i just received it tonight! i already had styled my hair for the day.. [didn't even blow dry it straight 1st, or anything!] .. i had products in my hair to define my curls .. & sedu STILL straightened my hair! the pic w/my hair straightened is the 1st time i ever used the sedu, no blow-out, no straightening creams.. no nothing! i was so skeptical @ 1st, but now i'm SO glad that i decided on this straightener! i was going to go with the chi.. or the solia because it's pink. but MAN am i glad i picked the sedu .. :) definitely give it a try!

I just got my sedu today and I instantly tried it out. All I can say is AMAZING. I straightened my hair from full on curls and it took no time at all and the result was glossy full looking straight hair. I researched lots of different straighteners and waited until I was certain that this was going to to be the best one and it really is, the price was a little much but hey it def is worth it.
