I have my hair straightened with the Japanese method. Since this is very costly, I wanted to extend the time between straightening. It worked great for 4 months, then just died. I couldn't beleve it. I was so upset, I just ordered a chi. I was afraid to buy another sedu.

The best flat iron I have ever owned leaves my hair shiny and smooth. I like this flat iron better than any Chi iron I ever had.

i ordered this straightner because everyone know that conair[which i have] sucks!i oredered it on saturday and got it on wednesday i was impressed because this was really quick!i used it on the highest level because my hair is really thick and it was wonderful! next week i used it for the third time and it just stopped working.i never hit it or banged it up or anything!i mean i just got it! so i had to return it and i didnt know i was supposed to write exchange on it because when i called folica they didnt tell me that and so i waited forever untill i found out that they thought i wanted my money back.sooo yeah i was pissed.the worst part was that i had to beg my mm to let me buy this.i said that since it was expensive and had nice reviews then it must be good! boy was i wrong.so now im ordering another one just lke it.i hope the problum was just one of those 1 out of a 1000 is faulty. i hope so

i had been using a fhi hair straightener for the past 3 years or so and never necessarily had a "problem" with it, i was just never happy with how my hair looked and how it never stayed straight. my hair is pretty thin and frizzy and i live in texas and the humidity is a nightmare! every time i straightened my hair i would walk outside and the frizz and wavy thin curls would come back that i HATE!! i read all of the reviews for this and was nervous because i hadnt read very many reviews of people with thin hair... but i love it so far! i just got it today so i still havent put it up to the test of if my hair stays straight... but my hair really does feel so soft and the straightener doesnt pull your hair at all, which i now realize my old striaghtener did a lot of!! i would def recommend.. hopefully it stays as good as it is now!

I got my sedu less than a year ago and it just died yesterday. I took very good care of it, never dropped it or banged it on the counter, I just used one day and it died the next. I really loved this flat iron, so much so that I want to buy another one, but is it worth hundred bucks if it only last a year??

I bought this hair straightener about a month ago and it worked absolutely fantastic on my thick, curly hair. However, the other day when I was in the middle of straightening my hair, it just flat out died. I can't get it to heat up or cut on or anything. Definitely buy this hair straightener if you want beautiful straight hair, but be prepared to use the warranty!!

Just wanted to let you know that I have had my Sedu for over 3 years! It is the best. I have had friends that have had the other major hair straightener and have had to replace theirs yearly. I love my Sedu, and when it dies, I will definitely buy another. Also, my daughter and I have been using it, and we both have curly and frizzy hair. And it lasts until I wash my hair.

I purchased the Sedu from Folica about a year and a half ago and it's still going strong with no problems. It glides through the hair really easily and there is no snagging. It takes only 15 minutes or so to do my hair (it's mid-way down my back and naturally wavy). My hair always comes out shiny and has lots of body to it. Just be careful because the iron does get quite hot.
VERY Overrated!

I bought this iron a week ago due to all the reviews. After washing, deep conditioning, and blow drying my hair I flat ironed it. I made sure to use a great heat protectant and avoid product overload, but this flat iron is average at best. If this had been my first flat iron maybe I would have been impressed. I also have a Paul Mitchell Ion Express flat iron that is soooo much better than this iron. Ladies and gents save your money and don't be fooled thinking that because the iron costs so much it must work. However, I do think its better than the original CHI, which I have as well. My suggestion would be to try several lower priced irons or even my beloved paul Mitchell Ion Express before or even after purchasing this flat iron. Good luck, God bless.

I purchased my first straightner about 4 years ago, I was totally impressed!! It outlasted every other flat iron I had ever owned(Chi, Paul Mitchell, etc.) & it does not damage my hair. I was so happy with Sedu that I just order the new TGR 3600 Hair Dryer. I would recommend Sedu to anyone.

I got mine on friday and tried it that night and it is fabulous! i needed a relaxed and i only put it to 260 degrees and in 20 secs it was hot!! i was like wow!!! i jus have to learn how to curl my hair a bit more because i have bin to work fa 3 hrs now and its still holding a curl with no product!!!

I was very excited to finally get my first straightner in years and then when I ordered the Sedu and it came in the mail, I opened it and started to use right away. After my hair was all straight. I took the straighter to my sister house and it would not turn on anymore. I left it on a few hours to see if it will turn on. It still didnt. I just want a replacement and hope it will work for a long time cause I really like the sedu. My sister has one too but it is a 1 1/2 inch. She got it for her birthday one year ago and still works.

Of course I did my research first and foremost and thanks to all of you who have posted your reviews I bought this back in April for the summer. AND IT WORKS! I swore last year was going to be the LAST summer I had puffy hair due to humidity and it was. :) I use this flat iron for my BSL African American Relaxed hair along with the CHI serum and it has been a wonderful experience. I use it when needed, 3x a month if that. Not because it isn't great, I just don't use heat on my head on the daily. I could not be happier with my purchase as well as getting it at a wonderful price on here! Again my many thanks to all the reviewers and to Folica.com!

As I came to folica.com to purchase a chi I was overwhelmed by the positive reviews of the sedu and the negative reports that a chi usually burns out after a year. My first experience using the sedu did not amaze me with its straightening power; my old conair straightened just as well. However, what I love about this product is that there was no pulling or tugging on my hair and my hair had so much body and shine. It just seems a healthier way to straighten my hair. I can't wait to use my sedu again and figure what is the best method and which products give the best results. My next review will have pictures.

I FINALLY got my new flatiron while I was on lunch today and even though I only had about 20 minutes to relax, eat lunch, grab a drink and go, I HAD to try it out. Although I don't have any fancy before & after pictures, let me tell you...AHHh it is so awesome. My hair is pretty thick, and naturally curly and frizzy, and also pretty damaged since it's been dyed a few times. It took ten minutes to completely straighten all my hair, without strands being ripped out, and no steam or smoke coming off your hair (scary as that is!).
Pricewise you're not going to get a better deal, and this is a top-notch straightener - better than the one they used at the last salon I went to!
I highly recommend this flatiron, and I suggest you purchase it now since they've got the whole 10th anniversary sale thing going on..free shipping to top it off?

Not good for thin hair

I have relatively fine long hair and I always dry/straighten my hair upside down or in sections. But this straightener seems to press my hair so that it lays completely flat on my head, regardless of how I straighten it. Short of using a lot of product in my hair to create volume, I don't really like using this straightener on my type of hair.
It does a decent short term job of straightening, but one other issue I have with it is my hair does not STAY completely straight...since it is thin, it eventually waves out and doesn't look straightened. This is especially evident during humid/rainy weather.
I would recommend this straightener as a nice middle-tier product for someone who has hair of an average-thick texture/thickness. But next time I myself will try something else.
BTW: I prefer the CHI as far as the increased length of time my straightened style lasts goes, but only minimally...the CHI has very similar results (and my roommate has had 3 CHIs fry).

It worked great while it was on. But only after 4mo of use which was only 2-3 per week it completly shutt off. Waste of money!! I had lost the warranty paper and therefore I'm stuck with an NONWORKING IRON EXPENSIVE IRON.

I love this flat iron. I have used many in the past, and this delivers as stated. I have healthy, naturally wavy hair and when I use the flat iron my hair is straightend on the first pass, and leaves my hair shinny all day.

I've never owned a flat iron before; I've only used my friend's (which is a different brand) or had my hair straightened at the salon. I LOVED the results each time. If a device can turn my curly hair into long, straight, lucious hair then how could I not buy one?
So, I came to this website out of curiosity and after I read all these wonderful reviews on how great the Sedu Ionic flat iron was, I was so excited to order it. Boy was I disappointed when I finally used it. The first time I used it, it worked great for about half an hour. My hair was straight, not silky like it had been with other irons used on my hair, just flat and dull looking. Half an hour later, it started to frizz up and get wavy. I chalked that all up to the weather. I mean how stupid of me to think a curly haired girl could have lucious straight hair on a rainy day, right?!
So, I used it again the next day. Bright sunny day this time though same horrible results. In fact, even worse! My hair was back curly after an hour!
So, I gave it one more try because third time's the charm. Well, there was no charm and I'm really disappointed that I didn't get the results I was hoping for. Each time I used the proper preparation products for my hair and still got nothing.
I've accepted my curly hair. It's taken years, but I've perfected a method to make my curly hair look fabulous. I only wanted to use this flat iron twice a month or so because a girl's gotta have change sometimes! Too bad this wasn't the product to provide that change. Oh well, off to admire my curls =D
