Product Rating: 5 I love this the sedu!
Reviewer: Laura   Fri Jul 03 2009

This works great! i have curly hair, and this straightens verrrry well!

Product Rating: 4 pretty good but sometimes...
Reviewer: ghd is better =\ from los angeles  Mon Jun 29 2009

this flat iron is pretty good, however i was expecting much better. after all the hype about how it leaves your hair super smooth and frizz free, i still end up with frizzy flyaways sometimes.

the key, however, is to make sure the heat temperature is right for your hair. for example, my hair is over processed, so i go for about 300. if its to low for you, you end up with frizzy hair you have to go over t over. but if its too high, you burn your hair and its stiff and nasty.

it takes a little longer for me to straighten my hair with the sedu than the ghd, but i think the sedu does less damage. thats the really good thing that it never gives my split ends or fries my hair (unless its really really too hot).

overall, i actually prefer my ghd, but they're so expensive and my sedu was only about $99. bottom line: i would recommend it.

Product Rating: 2 Damages Bleached Hair-Watch Out Blondes!
Reviewer: Carla from Canada  Sun Jun 28 2009

I am a Canadian, and getting my purchase past customs ended up being thirty unexpected dollars. This straightner looks more expensive in a picture rather than you when have it in your hands yourself. Damaged the ends of my hair had to get 2 inches cut off, which was upseting. My hair is blonde and it just fried it. I had to use a higher heat setting due to the thickness of my hair, and with the combination of my bleached locks i had irreversable damage. The SEDU does wonders for my sister who has brown coloured hair, and its thin. SO ALL IN ALL NOT WORTH MY MONEY.

Product Rating: 1 Love the results but...
Reviewer: Sabrina   Fri Jun 26 2009

I bought my Sedu and loved using it but within a couple of months of very light use and never being dropped it just stopped working. So I sent in for my replacement and received another one and it worked fine for about 8 months and one day I went to plug it in and the light barely comes on and there is no heat on the plates. I really did like the results but I am not impressed with the quality. I rarely use it and it just stopped working. I think I will be changing brands.

This product worked decently.
It straightened my hair, but left it a bit frizzy and it still had quite a few waves.
On the bright side, it's lightweight, and very easy to use.
I wouldn't necessarily recommend this product.... Although it is better than the chi because it does not damage your hair too much.

Product Rating: 4 Great iron, but died after 1.5 years
Reviewer: Fiona from Vancouver, Canada  Fri Jun 19 2009

Had this iron for 1 1/2 years and absolutely loved it! Hair was very smooth & shiny, even the next day. Went to turn it on the other day and it's dead. Very sudden death, no warning. No idea why and only has a 1 year warranty. Expensive for 1 year... Haven't decided yet whether the 2 year extended warranty is enough to make me try it again.

Product Rating: 5 Sedu is the way to go - for all hair textures!
Reviewer: Sedu Flat Iron Fan!! from Los Angeles, CA  Tue May 26 2009

There are many good reasons why this product has over 1000 reviews! I've had my Sedu for over 2 years without any problems and highly recommend it!

Ladies, whatever your hair texture is - from afro to curly to frizzy to wavy - this is the straightener to get. I have thick & chemically relaxed Black/African-american hair, and this straightener does the job for me. I use it on the highest setting without any problems - I have never burned my hair and it always comes out soft and shiny. This Sedu also does a great job of straightening my roots even when my relaxer has grown out a bit.

I have a diverse group of girlfriends with a varity hair types (Asian, White, Black, Latina and Middle Eastern) who have all used my flat iron on their hair, and they all love it!! Some of my friends with fairly straight hair have used it to get that smooth look (similar to a blow-out), and other friends with curly/coarse/ethnic hair have also used it with much success! If you have fine hair or somewhat straighter hair, you probably only need a lower setting. If you have tight curls or coarse hair, you will be ok even up to the highest setting. A good blow dry will also make it even easier to use the straightener.

Here are some extra tips to keep in mind:
- DO NOT bend the cord. DO NOT wrap it around the iron. This can damage the wiring within it and cause it to break, which is why it can eventually stop working. Gently gather/loop the cord up in a circle, separate from the iron. DO NOT bend the cord!!!

- Try not to drop it. Duh, right? Treat it like the remote....after enough falls and drops, it will probably not work anymore.

- Don't leave it plugged in for too long. The iron will run through cycles just like any other electronic product, but leaving it plugged in for hours can eventually lead to a burn out. Don't expect it to heat up perfectly forever, but moderate use will extend the life of it.

- Keep the plates clean. If you use a lot of products or serums, wipe down the plates between every use! This will prevent any products from caking up on the plates and cooking the next time you use the flatiron. Dirty plates can cause the coating to chip, and can both the dirt and the chipped plates will pull your hair. No bueno... so wipe down the Sedu after each use.

- Straighten your hair in SMALL sections. Don't expect to plow through fist-fulls of hair and walk out the bathroom like Pocahontas ;) You have to part your hair, and work through small (usu 1-2 inch) sections, and slowly press the flat iron through the shaft of the hair. Give it an extra press as you get to the ends, just to smooth out any frizz.

Hope this all helps you decide to get the Sedu - it's the best flat-iron I've ever had!!

Product Rating: 5 Very good
Reviewer: Trish from Las Vegas  Sun May 17 2009

I purchased this a week after i got my CHI to compare the two. Sedu is by far better than CHI. It does not pull on my hair, nor burns my ends like CHI does. It also left my hair a lot smoother and silkier and the style lasts longer. Sedu is also more lightweight than CHI so no more tired arms. lol. I returned my CHI and sticking with sedu. ;)

Product Rating: 5 CALLING ALL BLACK PEOPLE!
Reviewer: Ash from Ohio  Sat May 16 2009

Im an African American 16 year old girl with relaxed but very very very thick and dry hair. Sound familiar? than this is the flat iron for you!! i tried it out for the first time today and i anxiously waited for my mail to come so i could use it because i do my hair every saturday. (took about 6 days to come) well i am in LOVE. This beats out my ceramic flat iron i had before and it wasnt any cheapo one either it was an h2pro that my mom bought at a beauty supply store. It works pretty well but it was tiny only 3/4" and even tho my hair is collerbone length, it was just to small. I use this iron on maximum heat of 410 degrees and it dosent burn ur hair or anything. it makes it feel sooo soft and healthy. i was so surprised at the new texture i had. i only had to run it over my hair about 2 times when the last one i had i had to run it over at least 4 or 5 times! Plus, this is the week of my relaxer and it dosent even feel like i need it anymore. My ends look rly great also, just like theyve been trimmed! its amazing. throw all ur other flat irons away. Relaxed, natural ethnic hair from completly normal hair you really need this flat iron. it makes straightening SO much easier.

Product Rating: 5 Best Flat Iron
Reviewer: Kim from Indiana  Tue May 12 2009

I just purchased the sedu 1" flat iron and I love it. It is definately the best flat iron I have ever used.

Product Rating: 4 Good not great
Reviewer: Amara from Los Angeles, CA  Sun May 03 2009

I purchased my Sedu after my Solia died about a year ago.
I must say that I was not impressed. After the whole hype about the Sedu and the $30-40 price difference I was expecting a miracle worker. (After all my Solia had put very high standards.) It does do an extremely good job at straightening my hair but I'm not impressed.
The texture of my hair feels very different from my Solia which I felt left my hair more soft. The Sedu make my hair feel kind of "dirty" and oily feeling. Now I'm not trying to say this isn't an excellent flat iron and is a piece of crap but when time comes to reorder a flat iron I will definitely save myself some money and go for the superior product which is the Solia.

Product Rating: 4 LOVE THIS IRON!!
Reviewer: Mari from Alamo,Texas  Fri May 01 2009

for years i would iron my hair and never the get results I wanted! My hair is curly and wavy so i can never just leave it down without ironing it or picking it up! I used the maxiglide which was okay but didn't give me the results i wanted. Then I got the sedu and i love it! It gets my hair really straight and your can't go wrong with this item! the only problem i has was that after a month for some reason the bottom wasn't align anymore which means when i put the plates together they aren't align so hopefully I will be able to get a replacement because i love this iron!

Product Rating: 3 If it weren't for the cord...
Reviewer: Lisa from Central California  Tue Apr 28 2009

All in all, I love my Sedu. It heats up quickly, I can vary the heat level if I need to and my hair doesn't get caught in the plates. Sounds ideal, right? Wrong.

I am now experiencing the same cord issues as other people mentioned - if the cord isn't twisted in the proper direction, the flat iron won't turn on. I believe that if you're going to spend $108 for a flat iron it should last. Sedu knows they have a faulty cord which is why they don't cover it in the warranty. I have had much cheaper flat irons last much longer.

There's no doubt that the Sedu performs beautifully, but it lacks longevity. If you decide to buy a Sedu, make sure you keep everything you need for the warranty because you'll definitely need it.

Product Rating: 5 Sedu is a better product
Reviewer: Candise from Houston, TX  Sun Apr 26 2009

I have used the Chi, Sedu, and I recently purchased the Solia. My sister has the Sedu. I was not willing to spend as much money on a Straitener so i got the Solia, and i did not want to get the same thing because we live together. However if you want quality i really recommend the Sedu. Its a really good product. I have thick hair almost to my t and its wavy/curly. It gets the job done. I live in Texas, and it is super humid. The Solia is a good product for the money, but it leaves my ends super dry and i have to go over a cpl of times. The Sedu you do not. So if you want to spend the money get the Sedu if not get the Solia

Product Rating: 4 It's okay.
Reviewer: Brenda from fort worth  Sat Apr 18 2009

Ive had this Sedu flat iron for about 4 months. And like a month after I got it, the plates weren't closing correctly.
I just now called and asked it to be replaced and I think they are going to replace it.
But other than that, I think this is a reallyyy good straightner. My sister has frizzy curly curly hair and alot of it too. And this flat iron leaves her hair sooo straight and smooth!
I would recommend it to anyone.
:)

Product Rating: 5 Sedu = The Perfect Match
Reviewer: Sara from San Jose, California  Wed Apr 08 2009

My hair is naturally curly (I hate it like most of us curly heads) and usually it takes me 30 min using a flat iron AFTER I have already spent 20 minutes blow drying first. I timed my start time with the Sedu and it was only 11 minutes to completely straighten my hair (which I do have fine hair and it is medium length by the way)!!!! My first pass through the hair was almost euphoric like "did I just use this thing"?! It does not pull or snag your hair. I am completely and utterly in love and I don't think I will be purchasing another flat iron until I have broken this one somehow. *knocks on wood* I got the 1" and it's ideal for travel too because it's smaller than traditional flat irons. Almost like a mini compared lengthwise. It's also very light weight so you don't have your wrist or arms get tired. Thank you Sedu!

Product Rating: 4 I love this straightener:)
Reviewer: Devon from Apex, North Carolina  Sun Apr 05 2009

So, I got my Sedu in the mail fairly quickly, especially for standard shipping. I tried it the day I got it, and I must say, my hair is STILL straight 6 hours after I did my hair! My time wasn't "cut in half" like the box said, but my hair is REALLY soft and REALLY shiny after using my Sedu.

It heats up in 20-30 seconds, and you only have to pass it through your hair once or twice to get it perfectly straight.

There is no frizz, and my hair is smooth and lightweight to the touch, because I dont have to slather my hair with product in order to keep it from poofing out on me.

The only con is that it gave my hair this odd smell, but it went away within 30 minutes.

I purchased this flat Iron recently, I absolutely love it, took me half the time as the other one I owned that is a plus as far as your hair being damaged, Looks much smoother then when I used my old one, and the price was really great. plus the free shipping was awesome...I highly recommend this flat iron

Product Rating: 4 Great but not long lasting...
Reviewer: Heather from Orlando, Fl  Fri Mar 27 2009

I loved my Sedu so much when I got it, and it is the best straightener I have tried. My only issue it that it doesn't have a long enough lifespan in my opinion. After about a year, it started to short out when the cord swiveled. So, I sent it in because I still had a warranty on it. I didn't have the straightener for a few weeks, which was devastating for my short, puffy hair. I got it back, however, a few months later, even though the cord no longer swiveled, it started shorting out whenever I clamped the straightener on my hair. So, although i think it is super effective at creating great straight hair, it keeps breaking for no reason and now I have to buy a new one.
