i had the chi for about six years and i always thought it was good for my hair, but the problem i had was that it will always break so easy. So this time that it broke i decided to try for something different and decided on the sedu. i was scared at first to try it, but i can't believe it!! its way better than the chi, it straightens so well and it smooths my hair and it won't frizz my hair out like the chi did. i have wavy thick hair. i've had this for a week and everytime ive used it it gets better. :)

I've been through about five straighteners in like seven years, and this is by far, the BEST straightener I've ever used. My hair is sleek, shiny, and straight with very little effort.

I LOVE my new Sedu Iron. I have VERY curly hair & have used the CHI products for years. I recently had the Keratin Complex straightener performed on my hair & have been using these products & deciced to get a new iron to replace my old CHI iron which I have had for years. Between the new SEDU iron & the Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy products, my hair is more healthy, softer, shinier, & straighter than ever!!! I can't recommend these 2 items enough !! And I was a hard core CHI advocate for years, but Keratin Complex hair products & SEDU Irons now have all my business !!!!!

This is a great product for all hair textures, esp. curly/coarse hair. I am African American with medium length relaxed hair. My hair is extremely thick and this Sedu flat iron is one of few that can actually produce salon quality results. I also own a Conair Infinity, Remington, and an Ozon flat iron...the Sedu is definitely one of my favorites. This iron gets extremely hot (Be Careful ladies!), which helps to cut the time it takes to straighten my hair dramatically. Another plus is that the Sedu is lighter in weight than any iron I have ever owned. When I use this product, my hair comes out light, silky, and healthy looking.... and it never snags my hair like some of the cheaper versions do. I must say though, it is a little bit difficult to make spiral curls with this iron because it does not rotate. Also, the quality of shampoo/conditioner you use really does affect the outcome of how your hair will look after using this iron. And because it gets so hot, I would never use a Sedu without first applying a heat protectant to my hair; although I use a thermal protectant every time I put any kind of heat on my hair. Basically this is a good choice because it is easy to use and equally as powerful. I recommend this to almost all of my friends who are willing to pay for it.

I have really really curly thin hair. I also happen to live in Miami and if you've been to Miami you know we are all about HUMIDITY all year round! I has definitely tried other flat irons but it made my hair look dull and fried! No matter what products I used it was always the same disappointing result after almost 3 hours of straightening hell my hair looked dull and dry and as soon as I walked about I had about 30 minutes before the frizzes started to appear. Keep in mind my hair is curly and to my lower back. So when my friend recommended I try her flat iron, I wasn't expecting anything new to happen...Once she was done straightening my hair in no more than 1 hour, I was amazed at house straight it was! But most of all how Shiny!!!!!! When I stepped out of her house I thought to myself this will all go to heck in a little bit 30 mins after being outside my hair had not frizzed up one bit and it looked healthy! Needless to say I ordered my own SEDU iron that same week and even though it was pricey it's the best purchase I've made!!! I've had mine for 3 years and I've gotten faster as straightening my hair! I can straighten it out in 45 mins and it stays looking great (a few touch ups) for as long as I want! I usually have it straight for 5 days and then I go back to curly! I absolutely love it! When I have a chance I'll post up pics of before and after!! Just remember to clean and take care of it and it should last you a long long time and you should be able to get your money's worth! :o)

I loved my Sedu because it worked well and left my hair looking great. I used it a couple of times a week and it was great, but after about 3 years, it started turning off while I was using it. Something happened near the base where the swivel cord is; sometimes it would move a certain way and turn off. I took really good care of it, but one day it blew a huge flame out the end where the cord comes out. No kidding; it was about 3 inches and then it started to smoke and smell like burning plastic. I threw it away immediately. I'm lucky it didn't burn me. I ordered another Chi. I really did like the Sedu, but it did almost catch on fire.
Great iron -- but it's dead! :(

I have LOVED my Sedu straightener but yesterday it quit working!! I think the problem is with the plug -- the reset button isn't staying pressed in for some reason. Very annoying. I can't get it turn on at all and I'm devastated! I've had it for a little over 2 years...is that the lifespan of these things? They are so expensive -- I would think it should last longer... Oh well.

I had a bad perm and i tried the cheaper flat irons but they all made my hair look fried. This actually made my hair look healthy. I have been using this one for well over a year and it only takes me about 20 mins to straighten my hair and i love it. I will never use anything else.

I bought this iron after two CHI irons stopped working,thought id try something different,it's too boxy/square and doesnt do near the job my CHI irons did,so ive went back to CHI once again,the little knob on the end that adjust the heat always gets turned lower when your using it and I have to go over and over my hair to get it straight,just not as good in my books!
It's good, but not for the price.

I purchased this flat iron, hoping it would leave my hair perfectly soft and silky and smooth. It does straighten my hair, but not what I expected at all. I was at the mall a few months ago and there was a kiosk for flatirons and they straightened my hair really nice, but their irons were really pricey. So I decided to look on line and found out a lot of bad stuff about those mall kiosks for the herstyler so I decided to look for another flatiron, when I came to this one I did not want to spend close too 100 on it but the reviews said it worked so well and the pics looked nice. I bought one and shipping took a while, but I finally got it and I am not impressed. I am gonna keep it for a few more days to work with it, but so far I am thinking about returning it. I might just go buy a herstyler...

I love love love the straightener! however...
i thought it had a swivle cord and mine doesnt. the cord gets in the way and is so long and bulcky in comparison to the small light weight straightener, its kind of a pain in the butt.
i had the sedu 1 1/2in. for a little more than two years b4 it died out, it had a swivle cord and it was my favorite, i loved it. i thought this time id switch it up and get the smaller one. liek i said great straightener and if something like the cord doesnt bother you then you'll love it too!

Its kinda strange that im writing this review amongst the other high rating reviews, however this comes from the heart. Last christmas I purchased the Sedu for my twin sisters. I read all of the high reviews and thought it would be perfect for their long thick hair. Ive been using the Solia for 2 yrs and wanted to try something new so I ordered the Sedu. Negative points- Im not able to control the handle with both hands because the outter body is not heat resistant and will burn the crap out of you....unlike the Solia. I was expecting some pretty damn straight hair. The first couple of hours of use my hair was ok semi straight, mind you my hair is very soft and extremely easy to straighten. I had to run it through my hair SEVERAL times just to get it somewhat straight. Talk about burning your hair out! So sody sedu, i wont be seeing you anymore as you are going right back to dearest Folica who will hopefully find you a new home. Solia baby...here I am come!!!!....back :)

Better than my Chi! It makes my crazy, curly hair flat & shiny :) just need to get my ends cut, than it would look even better :) def recommend, it even keeps the humidity out!

I've had many straighteners but none of them worked as well as this. It makes my hair so smooth and silky and doesn't take long at all to use. Cuts my time nearly in half and there's no breakage. Many other comments are saying its faulty and breaks easily but I have had mine for over 2 years now and there's still not a single scratch on it and never one fault. Just take care of it and don't just leave it lying around... I HIGHLY recommend getting it. Worth EVERY penny.

I use to go every week to the beauty salon to get my hair washed and styled because when I did it, it looked awful. My hair is thick and waving. My friend used this flat iron on my hair when I really needed a relaxer and I fell in love. I ordered it and now I do my own hair and it get really straight and looks like I got it done at the salon. I'm going to save up for the Sedu blowdryer next.

Ive had this straightner for just over a year now. Its GREAT! Its super light and easy to handle. Ive had no problems with this product. I would recommend it to anyone.

I first purchased the sedu over a year ago. At first, the plates touched completely, it warmed up decently quick and stayed hot. I have very course, very thick tight curled hair.. and it worked like a charm. ONLY because I know how to work with any flat iron after almost ten years of hair straightening. I liked it at first, felt cheap & too plasticky though and the plates instantly scratched after ONE USE on my hair, causing pulling. After maybe two months, the plates didn't touch anymore & left a huge gap. After six months, the spring flew out & wouldn't open on its own. Also, no swivel cord.. I have now designated my Sedu for CURLING only which is a pain with the no swivel, i have to stop & unwind the cord. Even with the non touching plates & having to open & close it now on my own, it works great for curling, but again.. i know how to & could do this with a cheapy conair from walgreens. Definitely NOT a durable straightener. All these people leaving reviews, have only just gotten the Sedu. This is from someone who's owned one now for over a year.. and i'm not too ecstatic. I paid $100, what a waste. Stick with CHI or HAI. They last longer & aren't plastic & cheap. Save your money ladies.

I bought this product in April 2008. I paid $108.99. Since then my hair straightener has broken FOUR times. The first time the cord sparked, then twice the plates were falling off, & just recently the handle was coming apart & the plates, again. The product has a two year warranty. Every time I have had to pay the $9.95 replacement fee. The cost of my product has gone up to $148.79. The product works well on my hair but as far as the quality of the product is extremely poor.

I owned this sedu 1" flat iron for 2 1/2 years and loved every minute! Unfortunately the iron stopped working but I feel I got alot of use out of it considering it gets used twice a day (by myself and my teenage son).
Whan I replaced it I thought I'd try the Solia 1 1/4" since it has great reviews and was 40.00 cheaper. After 1 week I found my hair starting to feel dry/damaged. Also did not feel the plates glided as well on my hair as my old Sedu.
I am returning the Solia and buying another Sedu, just like my old one..because I miss my silky hair.
By the way my hair is caucasian blonde, thick and wavy shoulder length.

I have used so many hair straighteners before from revlon to CHI. Nothing has flat ironed my hair like this till now. This product is amazing. I have the thickest and the most frizziest/curliest hair among anyone i know and I always hated my hair. But with Sedu, my hair is amazingly straight. I love this product and I have recommended it to many of my friends.
