Product Rating: 5 Best straightener I've EVER had
Reviewer: Kel from Jersey  Thu Jul 30 2009

I've only used my sedu twice ( i just got it yesterday) but I think I can honestly say it is the best straightener I've ever used! I was a little skeptical when I first got the straightener because I went with the 1 inch instead of the 1 1/2 and it looked REALLY small so I was like there is no way this tiny straightener is going to handle my thick mop of hair.. BUT it did an AMAZING job! I am beyond pleased that I bought this straightener. It Glides through my hair with no problem, my hair DOESN'T get pulled (which is a big plus) and it made my hair feel weightless. For those of you who are debating on the sedu and the chi- sedu wins hands down. I never owned a chi but my cousin does and shes straightened my hair with it a few times and it NEVER EVER EVER looked as straight or felt this light weight. I want to thank everyone that wrote a review on this website because they really persuaded me to by the sedu and i'm soooooo happy that I did!!

Product Rating: 5 CHI and HAI vs SEDU......SEDU WINS!!!!!!!!!

I have been using flat irons for about 10 years now. I've used everyone and every brand of CHI, HAI. I even used HOT TOOLS. I think that the HAI and CHI are good and I really don't have anything bad to say about them besides that they stop working after about a year, but I used it everyday so I felt like I got good use out of them. I have always been a big advocate with them and I had always told my girlfriends to buy one because it is totally worth it. I was a little weird about buying a flat iron that wasnt a CHI or HAI because I had never used SEDU before, but I ended up buying it and let me tell you CHI and HAI are good but SEDU is amazing my hair feels so silky, light and smooth. SEDU is also very light so my arm doesn't get tired from holding it up, and it straighten FASTER. I don't even have to use as much product in my hair either because it dosen't damage your hair like the others do. I like CHI and HAI but seriously SEDU is sooo much better in everyway it can be. I love this product and will NEVER use anything but a SEDU flat iron. Wow, my review sounds like a commerical... but seriouly I have really have thick curly hair, and SEDU Pro Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron is the best thing I have ever used on my hair.

I just received my iron today and used it right away. My hair was instantly silky. I didn't feel any rough, dry hair. I didn't see any hair on my shoulders. It felt great. Out of all my irons, I will only be using this one. My hair is relaxed so this is saying a LOT!!! Worth every penny.

I'm a guy with THICK/COARSE, WAVY (but not curly) hair. It's not too long, either. The 1" plates fit so nicely. The Sedu flattens my frizzy strays and makes my hair shiny and smooth. It looks like silk and I just can't keep my hands out of it! I use it every single day and my hair is not dried out. I have no split ends, either. Granted, I treat my hair better than a newborn baby.

Now, my sister also uses the iron and she has LONG, FINE, THIN hair. It works magnificently. It smooths her frizz and she shines like the sun. I can curl her hair with it, and the curls and bouncy and beautiful. She, too, uses it every day and her hair does well, too. Far better than any other straightener she/we have used.

I have friends with Chi flatirons, and I do not like them as much. The ceramic plates feel scratchy to me. The tourmaline plates glide on your hair like an oiled machine. You will notice a difference in the amount of natural shine. The sedu has ceramic under the tourmaline for even heat distribution.

I got my sedu from folica and I love the free flatiron holder. It keeps my vanity safe! I have had 0 problems with the build quality. The cord has been redone from earlier models and it's sturdy feeling. It heats nice and fast and the light blinks to let you know when it's ready! You can't go wrong with free shipping, either!

This is my daughter, she is bi-racial half white and half African American. She has very curly hair, which we love. But there is times when she wants to wear her hair straight. So for Christmas this year she wanted a flat iron. I have had a chi in the past and was going to buy another one. But after reading the reviews purchased a Sedu. She loves it:)

It's not a miracle iron if that's what your thinking.
I used to have a conair iron, it was decent. It took forever to heat up though and it was getting old.... so I thought " Why not get a new iron? " and I did.

At first I was really considering the chi, but the reviews for the sedu were much much better. When I got my sedu I was sooo excited! Folica's service is really good btw.
It tooke me an hour and a half to do my hair.
With my conair iron it took me too.

This iron heats up really quickly and it's good. But after three days it seemed worse and worse. The little screws got loose and now they make squeaky noises, and it doesen't heat up as much... and I've only used it twice.

It's still good though. I just don't think it's as amazing as people make it out to be.

I got my sedu August a year ago after my hair stylist recommended it for me. I have somewhat fine, blonde hair - but have a LOT of it!
The sedu has a high range of heat settings, the light flickers when heated to temp, swivel cord, and glides weightlessly through my massive amounts of hair.
However, after about 10 months of daily (yes, daily) use, it started working only when the power cord was swiveled to a certain position. I decided to just deal with it because I can't find my warranty information.
For a straightener that works this good and especially one that is used daily, I'd recommend it to anyone, and will buy another.

I am in LOVE with my Sedu! The best money I ever spent! I have curly thick hair...so its hard to find a straightener that gets the job done! I bought mine in December of 06 and didnt want to write a review until I had a lot of time with it. I always drop it and it still seems to work.
Its durable
Small
Versitile

I live in Las Vegas and everyone knows how hott it gets here! And very humid. My hair NEVER frizzes up!
And since its 1 inch I curl my hair and sisters hair too!

Also I color my hair red every 4 weeks and my hair is never damaged! I straighten my hair everyday. The curly hair one is from 6 years ago but thats how my hair is.

Huge difference!
Worth every penny!

I have tight, tight curly hair and no other flat iron has been able to do as great a job as this one. The results are comparable to spending most of my day in a salon and spending a lot more money. The price is great, and unlike some reports that I heard when considering the purchase, mine has lasted 6 months so far with no glitches, I do not think this is a faulty product, and I do think that if it keeps going the way it is now, it will last at least a couple years. Definitely give this one a try, I got a really short haircut right before buying and this one does a great job of getting the shorter hairs in the back. One thing though, the whole flat iron gets hot, the backs of the plates, the sides (obviously), so watch your fingers, ears, forehead, etc... But that should be a given. This is an A+ product.

being a former chi owner, i can say the sedu is much better.
But i really hope people understand that the shampoo/conditioner you use comes into play when you straighten
DO NOT USE CHEAP SHAMPOOS! this will result in frizzy hair after you straighten. Try using shampoo brands: Rusk, Chi, John Frieda, etc
That being said, the SEDU holds up in humidity much better than my CHI did. There is much less frizz, and it takes about 5-10 minutes less. I have very thick(on the end) curly frizzy hair. I always let my hair air dry, then straighten. the sedu is great. definitely recommend it.

I own a Chi, but I decided to get the Sedu because of all the great reviews I had read. It works like they say, it straightens my hair a LOT faster than my Chi, and I never realized how much the Chi snagged my hair until I tried the Sedu. Now using the Chi feels like torture, its always pulling out my hair. The only thing I can't do with it is make curls as well as with the chi, but i probably just haven't gotten the hang of it

Okay, so I'm 16 and mixed with black and white. I usually get my hair pressed at a salon every 2 weeks. So my hair totalled up to 90 dollars a month. yeah...plus my parents were paying for it, god forbid I got in trouble and they threatened to not pay for my hair that month. I would have to walk around looking like all crazyheaded. Okay so I finally got a sedu, not only is it worth every penny, it bascially cheaper then going to salon. I would pay perhaps 150 dollars including products once versus 90 dollars every month.

I washed my hair using the pantene hair care line for relaxed and natural hair. Then I would put some heat protectant and super skinny relaxing balm from paul mitchell and blow dry it using a dryer with a comb attachment from Gold N Hot. After that I would put some biosilk, IC hairpolishing heatprotecter straightening serum from sally's plus some oil sheen. and then i flatiron it on maximum heat. Mind you, i use alot of products becuase my hair needs it and doesn't look good without it. Everyone
s hair is different and you may need to expirament until your hair looks as good as it can be. Some people barely use any products and not as much heat. it all depends on your hair.

However, this flat iron is perfect! If it works on my biracial hair, and on african american hair. IT WILL WORK FOR YOU, but remember product also make a huge difference.

I got this to replace my MaxiGlide that quit working. This iron straightens very nicely, and heats up quickly. I was used to the straightening pins on the old one, so I had to get used to brushing through each section before straightening to get it looking its best. Sometimes I even use the brush that came with it and brush down while following with the straightener, works very well once you get the hang of it. It took me a while to get the curls and flips down, but I can make it look the way I want to now. It takes longer since it's smaller, you have to work with smaller sections of hair. But I do love it and never leave home without using it first!

I just got my flat iron yesterday, and I was very excited to use it. I decided to purchase the Sedu over the CHI and Paul Mitchell after reading the customer reviews. I must say, at first I was a bit disappointed, but once my hair got adjusted to the new iron I was amazed. It literally looks like I went to the salon. After using the Sedu the first time, my hair was so sleek and shiny. My old flat iron used to make my hair very fluffy, but the Sedu gives you a very smooth look. It's so easy to curl your hair, and the curls last and are so pretty. I always thought what's the point of buying an expesnive flat iron when my $15 Wal-Mart flat iron works just as good. But after using the Sedu, I realized that it's definitely worth the money. I would definitely recommend this flat iron to any and every one!
