I found that using Kerastase Oleo-Relax Serum, as well as the hair bath (shampoo) and conditioner (hair masque) makes my Asian/African-American textured hair really soft, shiny, and bouncy. This serum will not leave your hair sticky or stiff after you flat iron, but incredibly natural! It's so great to use with this amazing flat iron!!!

I use John Frieda's Frizz-ease steps 1-5 (shampoo, conditioner, frizz ease serum, wind down creme and the secret weapon). I blow dry with an ionic hand held dryer befor using the iron and follow it with a shine spray by got2b. I get perfect, sleek and straight hair every time.

The key to stick straight hair is a good blow drying before flat ironing. Although some people do not like to blow dry, it aids in laying the cuticle down. I suggest using a comb attachment when blow drying--it makes the job easier and yields better results.

Also, do not use to much product. Flat iron sprays with alcohol can cause thick hair to frizz and have static. Just using a simple light oil will be sufficient. My stylist uses the BioSilk Silk Therapy, but if you don't want to pay much, try Proclaim Natural 7 oil (small amount), and the Proclaim spray on glosser after you finish. These products are effective, accessible (can find them at Sally's), and affordable.

Invest in a great protein shampoo and conditioner. Silk, and wheat protein is best. Keratin might dry the hair out if used to often. Best wishes!!

I am a hair stylist, I found some of my clients just didn't know how to use a hair straightener. One important rule: use the right temperature for your hair type. you may need to do some trial and error.

If your hair is thin, or fine. You may start with low setting (somewhere around 150-160 degree Celsius). that should be hot enough for this type of hair, if you start with high, you may burn your hair.

if your hair is very thick and curly, you need a higher temperature (180 or above).

keep playing with the setting until you find a setting that straighten your hair well enough while not burning your hair.

i found that it saves time and straightens all my hair when i split my hair into sections. i put up 2/3 of my hair in a bun and straighten the bottem, then put that into a pony tail then let down the other layeer and repeat!
