preventing breakage

My Sedu works great, but at first, it really damaged my hair. I tried a lot of really expensive products, but nothing seemed to be keeping the damage at a minimum. But, my cousin recently suggested to me to try L'Oreal "Hot Straight" Straightening Cream (it's in a pink bottle), and it works AMAZINGLY. You can find it in ANY grocery store, and it only costs about five to seven bucks. I use my Sedu every single day. The last time I cut my hair was in August. Since using the "Hot Straight" Straightening Cream, I have NO split ends. NONE. And, it leaves my hair twice as silky as it ever was with anything else.

1.BRUSH YOUR HAIR AND TAKE ALL OF YOUR KNOTS OUT.
2.DO NOT PUT ANY HAIR SPRAY OR STICKY CHEMICALS IN YOUR HAIR BEFORE YOU STRIGHTEN.
3.USE THE CORRECT TEMPATURE SETTING,SOME FLAT IRONS HAVE THERE SETTING IN CELSIUS,TO CONVERT CELSIUS DO: 9\5 TIMES THE TEMPATURE IN CELSIUS AND ADD 32.
4.DO ONE AREA AT A TIME, BANANA CLIPS ARE USEFULL!
5.AFTER YOU ARE DONE, SPRAY A HAIR POLISHER IN TO GET LUMINATE SHINE.
6.WASH YOUR HAIR EVERY OTHER DAY,WASHING IT EVERY DAY IS DAMAGING!
7. USE DEEP CONDITINER AND LET IT REMAIN IN YOUR HAIR FOR THREE MIN.
HERE IS A TIP FOR BLOW DRYING YOUR HAIR: AFTER YOUR HAIR IS DRY, MOST BLOW DRYERS COME WITH A COOL BUTTON, HOLD THAT BUTTON DOWN FOR ONE MIN ANY YOU WILL GET BETER RESULTS.

help with breakage and keeping it straight

1. wash and with a shampoo and condition for either smoothing or moisturizing. Good ones are matrix sleek, neutrogena triple moisture, back to basics straightenining, Pantene sleek n'shine, Redken smooth down, Redken All Soft,Infusium for frizzy hair...
2. Deep condition. It's SOOO important my hair has soo much breakage if I don't deep condition every time I wash. My favorite is Neutrogena Triple Moisture mask.
3. Towel dry and evenly distribute Redken Satinwear blowry lotion throughout your hair but don't use too much. I use about a nickel size.
4. Blow dry with a paddle or round brush.
5. lightly mist a little flat iron spray on each section of your hair but do not use too much or it will get sticky. I like matrix sleek iron spray, straight sexy hair's soya want flat hair, chi 44 iron guard, V05 miracle mist,
6. Finish with hairspray. Anything from the Straight sexy hair line is fantastic.

Relaxed African American hair, thin hair (4a/4b)

For Shampoo and Conditioner (humecto conditioner that you leave on for 15 minutes), I use Kera Care. Our hair needs moisture and having a good moisurizing shampoo helps with your results. Other good ones are Design Essentials or Mizani. A good shampoo and conditioner makes a world of difference, I found out that through trial and error. Blow dry using either a brush for more volume, or comb/pic for the flat look. A good blow dryer helps out as well. Make sure you put something on it before you blow dry, like Aveda blow dry spray or Kera Care syrum (just a quarter size) to prevent split ends and leave your hair healthy. For the temperature setting, put it on 360 IF you want it to be straight. If you are worried about heat, put it on a lower setting but it won't have the same results as 360. If your hair is more course, you may need to push it closer to 400. Be sure to put some serum on your ends!!! Flat Irons are known to chew the ends up. When you're done, I like the combination of using Biosilk Serum and Deep Brilliance Serum. With those two, your hair won't look dry and it'll come out soft and silky. And the next day, keep putting a a few dabs of moisture (nothing watered down) because with that heat, it technically dries your hair (my hair is usually dry anyway) a bit but if treated with moisture, your hair should be fine.

Paul Mitchell Super Skinn serum is the best! I wash my hair at night and let it airdry and when I wake up I use some super skinny serum and flat iron my hair. Works wonders!

leave-in mist heat protector
submitted by: vivamx, Wed Jul 26 2006

If yhou're going to put on a heat protector spray for your hair, put it on only on wet hair and if you are going to blowdry your hair before ironing it, or else if you putit on dry hair right before ironing the product can and might steam out while you're ironing it, and cause split ends! So dont leave in products right before straightening unless you blowdry after putting on product and right before ironing.

split ends(breakage!)

To get soft, healthy, split end free hair, you must use this inexpensive oil moisturizer! B and B oil Moisturizer Hair Lotion with castor oil and aloe helps against the sun, blow dryer, conditioning, and grooming. It's a white bottle with a fushia cap, black writing, and white fushia outlined words that you put on like a hair mask, but you leave on all night til you wash your hair, in the morning. It got my friend's extremely damaged hair, very soft, shiny, and healthy, in one use! Imagine if you used it every day you washed your hair! It cost me $2.50 at Walmart in the black hair section. It makes your hair oily, but its soooooooooo worth it, you can take a shower afterwards anyway. Believe me, im hispanic, but i like my hair, HEALTHY. It also act as a strengether, and good for skin.

How to get soft results..

To get your hair smooth and shiny , and so it stays straight.. first wash out your hair , if you ever have products in your hair it can burn on the striaghtner and make your hair feel greasy or stiff. Deep condition it after shampooing , you don;t want split ends ;]. While its still wet part your hair into 3 sections ; right front , back and left front, use " Loreal Studio Hot Straight cream" and dab a size of a dollar on your plam and rub around each section of your hair. The next step is to let your hair dry with the air or blowdry it (blowdrying can dryit out a little). Now , add 1 pump of garnier sleek and shine (rub trhoughlt in your plams and swipe through hair , or else you have spots that look greasy) and brush it out. Straigthen your hair. Add sleek n' shine anti frizz serum, a reasonable amount..brush out.. your ready

Size DOES matter.

So my hair is medium-long length, a couple inches past my shoulders. I thought the Sedu 1-1/2 inch was the right size for my hair length [especially if I chose to grow it out really long] and that it would take less time to straighten my hair with a bigger plate. But now I wish I'd looked into the 1 inch Sedu before buying the bigger one. Because a 1 inch iron can make curls as well as straighten. Unless your hair is very long and you don't want a straightener that can also be used for curls, I'd look into the 1 inch. :]

i use to have really dry hair b/c i blowdryed and straightened it so much but then is started doing this:
1)i use samy shampoo and conditioner for dry hair
2)before i blowdry my hair i let it air dry for about half an hour in a towel
3)then when im ready to blowdry i put rusk wired serum in my damp hair which decreases the time it takes.
4)i use the warm air setting on my blowdryer and low-medium setting on my straightener
5)after im all done straightening i follow w/ paul mitchell glos drops.
