I have thick, curly, dry hair ...impossible to straighten. I used a Hot Tools for years, but it always straightened it puffy, dry, and still curly in certain spots. It usually took a grueling 50 minutes of sweating from the heat for me to have less than satisfying results. This straightener is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. Heats up so in seconds and makes each section of my hair pin straight in one stroke. Definitly worth the money, if not more.
Great Straightener!

I have been using my Sedu straightener for the past month and it is without a doubt one of the best styling tools I've ever tried--as good as if not better than the one my professional stylist uses. My only regret is that I chose the 1 1/2 inch model which doesn't give me the same versatility as the 1 inch. The 1 inch allows the user to curl the hair as well as straighten it and it's possible to get much closer to the roots of the hair you section off. The Sedu leaves my hair smooth, silky, straight, and damage-free.
Changed My Mind!

A few days ago, I wrote in a review saying that I wasn't dazzled about the Sedu. Well, I've completely changed my mind! Turns out, I wasn't using it hot enough! The Sedu is AMAZING! The hands down BEST hair straightener I have ever used. My hair is so soft and silky, I can even run my fingers through it, something I've only dreamed of being able to do. And, it gives you a natural straight look, not that "laminated-straight" fake look my friend's CHI gives me. I can't believe I doubted it for a second. Thank you so much Folica, you've given me hope!
I love it!!!

I would rate the Sedu a 5+ star. My hair is so smooth and shiny, even in very humid weather. It is worth every penny!!!
Just OK

The iron heated up pretty quickly, however, it doesn't close firmly. You have to squeeze it together so that the plates close evenly. Also, I have long hair (African American) and and would recommend a 1 inch iron if you want to straighten the shorter hairs around the edges. I returned this item and bought an Infra Shine.flat iron.
AWESOME!

I am an African American woman with thick, curly, unrelaxed,
mid back length hair and the Sedu exceeded my expectations. The Maxiglide is the only other plug in flat iron to even begin to straighten my hair but the Sedu tops it hands down. It stays straight until my next wash and the softness and shine are unbelievable! The plates are so smooth, no snagging at all and it heats up so fast! The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because I cant get my hair completely straight without at least 2 or 3 passes. Overall I LOVE my Sedu.
Finally my hair is straight.

I have never paid this much money for something like this, however, now that I have it I see that it is worth it. If you have always wanted straight hair and suffer from the frizzies, this really works. I have had comments from people like, "oh, you look younger", and "you're wearing your hair straight now, it's really nice like that."
It doesn't really take me very long to do and I have more than shoulder length hair.
The free pad that it comes with (pouch) is very nice as well. I always put the Sedu down on top of it to protect my countertop.
Also, the delivery came within only one day. I had the regular free shipping and ordered it at noon on Tuesday from my home in Boston. I had it delivered to my son's home in Maryland because I wanted to have it when I arrived there for vacation. I drove down and when I arrived there at 5 pm on Wednesday, just a little more than 24 hours, my package was already there! Unbelievable. I was very excited when I tried it the first time and saw what it did. It was as if I had been to the salon. I really don't think the same results can be attained with a $25.00 hotiron.
Awesome Product.

Straightens better than any other I've had and I've had quite a few. Heats FAST and the heat pouch allows me to pack it quickly when going out of town.
Good flat iron, but prefer my Chi

I have 4a/4b hair and I tried out the Sedu. It works pretty well, but I prefer the Chi. My Chi gives me a more straight, bouncy, naturally shiny look. Sedu does pretty good. It will get it straight. On 360, it will do ok, any hotter, it looks more limp instead of bouncy.
I'm not dazzled

After reading the reviews, I decided this iron was the one for me. I've been ironing my hair since I was nine. My first straightener was a Revlon. But it was big and bulky, and thought it did the trick, it completely destroyed my hair! After that broke, I tried a Conair straightener that claimed to be "ceramic". Hah. It wasn't three days before my hair was a fried, frizzy mess. So, I ordered the Sedu.
Honestly, it doesn't work as good as I thought it would. I have wavy frizzy hair, but it's on the thin side. No matter what products I use, my hair is still dry, and it doesn't stay straight for very long. It frizzes up in the humidity, and the ends constantly flip upward, no matter what heat setting it's on. I'm not thrilled with the fact that I spent $125 on this, when it works about as well as my "ceramic" $30 Conair. I'm planning to return it.
this really works!

I pretty much trusted all the great reviews I read about sedu, but when I got it I couldn't believe how flat it made my hair! I have really thick hair and just by setting it at 350 works wonders! you will not regret it... it is worth every penny!

I've had the Sedu 1 inch flat iron for over a year. I did lots of research before purchasing a flat ironand due to all of the positive reviews on Folica, I went with the Sedu and I am so happy! The results are fantastic! I'm writing this review because just the other day, my best friend forgot her Chi flat iron at home when we went on a trip, so she borrowed my Sedu and she couldn't believe the results! She straightened her hair in record time and she was so impressed with the Sedu iron that she's tossing her Chi and she ordered the Sedu iron just today! I've been trying to tell my friends about Sedu for the past year and they never believed that it could hold a candle to Chi. Well, now they know!

I have very thick, coarse, wavy hair and I used a chi for about 2 years and then it startes acting up and stopped working...it was a pretty good straightener i guess but then i decided to get a new one i tried the best rated straightener on this website...so i ordered it, used it and oved it...with my chi i would have to go over my section of hair 2 or 3 times...with the sedu i only have to go over once..it cut my time in half!!
best i've used

I love this straightener because it does not give me as many split ends as my old straightener and it doesn't smell when it's hot like my old one. My old straightener was a vidal sassoon (didn't have money =]
Anyways I definitely recommend this straightener!
Worth the Money

One word, AMAZING...that's what this iron is. I originally had a GHD when I lived in England which was the best iron out there a couple of years ago. Back then the cost didn't matter to me so long as it worked well..and it did. When I moved to the U.S. I looked on this website to try to re-order it but now being on a tighter budget I decided to have a look at the reviews and see if I could find an equally good iron slightly cheaper. I finally opted for the Sedu. In my mind I thought it would never be as good as the GHD but close enough. Boy was I wrong. The Sedu has really surprised me. I've only had it for 2 months so am not sure how long it will last but for now I am one happy lady with sexy glossy straight locks! It takes half the time to straighten my unruly wavy hair with this iron compared to the GHD which in my book was the No1. The plus is the price tag is cheaper than the GHD AND it works better. So if you are in two minds about which iron to go with...let me put your mind at rest...don't buy the cheap irons that don't work well and break after a month or two......YOU WANT THE SEDU...it does everything it says on the box so you won't be disappointed. 10/10.
It's pretty damn good!

I originally went to this website in search of the original CHI 1" straightener, then the fact that this Sedu was top rated caught my eye immediately. I read the reviews and decided to purchase this one instead. I used the CHI one previously because I borrowed it from a friend, and it worked wonders. The Sedu worked pretty much the same, but it costs about $30 more! If you're looking for an excellent, not over-the-top price then go with the CHI or a different brand. However, I didn't put it to the maximum proposed setting--410 degrees Farenheit--because I didn't want my hair to fry! I have extremely frizzy, thick, coarse, kinky hair. This straightener actually tamed it, and that's enough to keep me satisfied!

I recently got a new sedu straightner and it is amazing. Although I must say that my older one was better, the new design is a bit different, but it still works just as well as the older one. I can wake up late for school and get done straightneing my hair in 15 minutes. With my old conair and revlon straightners, it took up to an hour to do my hair. It's a time saver and deffiently well worth the money. I love it!

I borrowed a friend's before buying one myself, and was too happy with results not to buy it. My hairstylist mentioned that my hair looked helathier, and I gladly told her what my secret weapon is. Not only does it do a great job at straightening, but it makes your hair extra shiny & healthy looking to boot!

well all i can say is that my hair looks awesome!!!!! usually i blow dry my hair but my hair was getting way to damaged, so i decided to try a hair staightener. i was way skeptical because hair staighteners can be worse for your hair then blow drying!!!! but the sedu is awesome if you have broken hairs or "fly away" hairs you cant even tell because the sedu just straightens it with the rest of your hair!!!!! all i do is shower at night and wake up in the morning and spray on tressemes heat protective stuff and then i straighen my hair!!!! the only problem i have with the sedu is that all is does is straighten your hair as straight as a board like you cant flip it out or flip it under and if you do you get a huge kink in your hair!!! thats my only problem!!!! other than that my hair looks and feels awesome!!!! THANKS!!!!!
Love it! Best flat iron ever!

Just got this flat iron about a month ago and LOVE how soft, straight and silky it makes my hair (I have long hair that is naturally curly and gets frizzy easily, especially in the Seattle drizzle). Was thinking about Chi but read a bunch of reviews where it shorted out after a month. Sedu works well, is easy to handle, and never pulls my hair. Haven't burned myself on it (which is more than I can say for every other flat iron I've owned). Heats up really fast. Had a revlon for about 8 years that I loved, but I will never go back because the Sedu flat iron is awesome!
