Can't Get Waves close to my head

I have owned the Sedu for about a year and I am fairly happy with my purchase. I have really course and extremely thick wavy hair. It does straighten my hair really well, except for some sections close to my head. I also noticed that it sometimes sounds like it it breaking my hair when I try to straighten little wisps in the front of my head. I used to own the Solan Sapphire and this one is much better than that. I have also tried the Chi and I think the Chi works better, but opted to purchase this one after I had many friends that said the Chi broke on them.
Loved it!

Great performance, awful quality

The performance of the sedu flat iron is amazing. But the quality is not. I have had a sedu since Mid December of 2005. So about ten months. My first one I had for two weeks and the part at the bottom of the straightener that enables the plates to clamp together and go apart broke. So I couldnt fully close it. I sent it back and received another one. And about three months ago the plates of the second one started falling off. They have yet to fall off completely but slide all over when I straighten my hair. Now the wiring has gotten messed up to where when i turn it on the wire has to be in just a certain spot(whcih it is difficult to get the wire in) in order for it to actually be on. If you can afford to replace this flat iron every 3 or 4 months then go for it, because it works great. It makes my hair extremeely straight and shiny. But I cannot afford to do that and Im looking for a new flat iron that will hopefully hold together better than this one.
Works well but does not last long

I've purchased the Sedu twice. Even though the Sedu works very, very well, it does not last long. The first one I purchased lasted 1 year almost to the date of purchase and the second one didn't last quite six months. I would even be willing to accept this fact because it works so well and purchase another except that the Sedu is too pricey. I purchased a different brand the third time.
Lives Up to Reputation

This straightener definetely lives up to its reputation as the best straightener on the market. The first straightener I had was this $40 store-brand steam iron, and because my hair is so curly (we're talking puffy, curly, scary hair here), that iron did not do a single thing, even when I blow-dried my hair first. This straightener disappointed me so much, and I didn't think any straightener would make my hair do what the salons did to my hair.
Then one day I went to a salon to get my hair straightened for a dance. My friend had the same straightener they used at that salon, I found out later, so I was going to get it (a Chi straightener) but the reviews were so bad (works really well, then just shorts out after about 2 months, and in some cases, the plates melted off) so I went looking at other stuff. Finally, after much research, I found the Sedu!!! Yay!!! It was delivered really fast -I ordered it on a Monday, and school started for the year on Thursday. The iron came on Wednesday-i was so excited!!!!! So now, I straighten my hair everyday and I've had it for a couple months. It works awesome, and my hair looks as good as it did when I went to the dance. I recieve so many compliments, because my hair is so straight and shiny...and this is coming from one of many girls who thought that their hair was hopeless. Get a sedu...you wont think so anymore.
Segu Hair Straightener

I purchased the Segu Iron about 1 month ago and I love it. It is awesome! No longer do I have to worry about a bad hair day because of humitiy or rain and it stays straight all day. It has also cut my hair styling time in half. My hair is shiny and soft after every use. The Segu is very light weight and easy to use(not big and bulky) and it doesn't pull or damage hair. It's well worth the money to get rid of hard to straighten hair troubles.

Here's the deal...I bought my 15-year-old this straightener last Christmas for her beautiful, THICK, LONG brunette hair. All was perfect....except her sister didn't get one! So....I've just received the 18-year-old daughter's straightener for this year's Christmas....so they won't have to share/argue/take/borrow/hide last year's gift! It's truly amazing what it can do...turns your hair into a style that seems professionally, well-paid for!

My three daughters and I LOVE this product. I have thick, coarse, unruly hair that feels like silk after I straighten it with this straightener. My youngest daughter has long, curly/frizzy hair that becomes completely managable after ten minutes using this appliance. Unfortunately we dropped our first Sedu iron after using it for more than a year, and we had to go back to using the cheap one we'd bought at a department store while we waited for a replacement. No comparison! We were literally counting down the days until the replacement arrived!

I love this product. I was using a drug store flat iron before I discovered this one and the two just don't compare. The Sedu helps to take away my frizziness and flyaways. I love it and don't know what I did before!

This is the best straightener I have ever used. I had several others, priced from $30- $60...but this is the best. My hair actually stays straighter for a longer time, and even overnight! My hair used to get really curly overnight, and then I would need to wear it up, or start over the next day. With this straightener, my hair is good for at least 2 days! I thnk it works better than the one my stylist uses! My hair is wavy, and curly underneath, and a little frizzy. Not aby more!!
Sedu Review

Folica emailed me and encouraged me to write some feedback so here's a quick note on the Sedu.
I personally do not think it was worth the high cost, and I am grateful that I bought it discounted from Folica.com. I don't see any difference between this expensive iron and the cheaper ceramic one my mother had bought me for X-mas many years ago. In fact, I was upset when my husband threw my old one out thinking I no longer needed it!
This Sedu is too small for long hair and it pulls my hair and takes a long time to straighten. My other iron was wider and got the job done quicker with less if any pulling and snapping.
Maybe I'm not doing it right, though I don't think it's rocket science. I think it's just too narrow and small overall for long hair.
I did read a bunch of review before buying. Was originally going to go for the Chi. Wondering if I should have, or if there's really a difference if it's as small and narrow as this one.
Many people have had great results with this iron, so I wouldn't discourage anyone from buying it who feels they want it. Just voicing my opinion. I'm not impressed.
Though I will add that the best hair products I've found to eliminate dryness from ironing are the organic and vegan brands. Especially a smoother called Pureology. It's the best!! None of those alcohol-containing, chemical brands can match the results from using products like Nature's Gate Organics and this line.
Wishing whoever's reading this lots of hair happiness with whatever you choose to buy!

I'm skeptical about products like this, and very cheap. I'm from the $12.95 Wal Mart hair flatner side of the tracks -and have two previous hair flatners that work for a few minutes. But at the first sign of humidity or body heat, my hair would friz up again.
I saw an infomercial for a competing hair straightener and started to research the validity of the claims, and the satisfaction from customers who had purchased the unit. The infomercial was quite convincing.
Unfortunately, for those who do their research, they will see that many people have traded in that particular advertised brand for a Sedu.
Sedu was incredibly out of my price range but if it works, is it worth it? How much would you pay for a no hassle, product that really works and makes you look like a million bucks?
After much deliberation, I finally invested in a Sedu.
It arrived quickly and I was given free shipping and a free hot pad to lay the unit on - which is a manditory item if you use the Sedu - it is VERY HOT when in use.
I washed my hair, dried it with a dryer and then did the flattening which took less than six minutes. Huh?
I've got longer than shoulder length hair that is naturally wiry and has lots of body (okay, frizz) to it.
AND WOW!
Now a mysterious thing happened, the Sedu is magic.
When you use it, it does something to your hair that I cannot explain. It usually takes me 25-30 minutes to blow dry it, but after having used the Sedu, it takes me a mere 5 minutes to blow dry my hair - completely dry, (using a cheap discount brand blow dryer) and another five to six minutes to straighten it with the Sedu.
It used to take me over an hour to blow dry and straighten my hair, and now in ten minutes I'm done and my hair stays completely straight (WITHOUT ANY PRODUCT ON IT) for three days or until I wash it again.
After the first Sedu use, I was in pure profit mode.
My hair is really silky and shiny and straight. I can't stop playing with it and tossing it over my shoulder, just because it's fun.
Hey, I've even gone to the gym and have sweat profusely and returned without washing my hair to see what would happen, and nothing happened. It smelled like sweat, but it looked fabulous.
And on a rainy day - with light drizzling and humidity, my hair got wet, but when it dried naturally - it looked like a million bucks. No frizzies, no enormous Einstein hair growing up the side of my head. Nothing but awesome looking hair. Totally worth the price.
I challenge you to buy this product and refrain from calling your friends with glee. You won't be able to do it. Personally, I hate it when people try to recruit you to their brands, or brag about their new toys - and there I was calling all my relatives and frizzy haired friends estatic with my new find - and look.
What are you waiting for?
They say, "when the promise is clear, the price is easy."
This will be the easiest price you'll ever pay for great hair.
Enjoy!
I recommend this straightener

I have wavy-cruly hair that loves to frizz. When I use this straightener my hair comes out really soft and without the frizz. I do use an after product on my hair to help fight frizz and foggy/wet weather but I just use a little bit, not much is required the straightener does a good job. The straightener is a perfect size for handling and is easy to reach around your head. I also love how you can use it to turn your ends out, in or keep them straight. I love my hair when I use this straightener, for me it was worth the price.

My hair is fine and tends to be a little wavy/curly, and frizzy when I use a dryer. I was always frusterated with it but I had never used a flat iron before until the last time I was at the salon. Hearing my complaints, my stylist straightened my hair for me to show me how it looked. I loved it so much that I went online the next week and bought a Sedu. It was way more than I wanted to pay but I wanted it to work, and work well. And I have to say I am impressed. The results do depend on how much serum I use, and how humid it is outside, but I am getting better at it. All in all honestly, I feel much more professional, pulled-together and attractive with my hair straightened versus frizzy. It has changed my (hair) life. I can't believe I put up with all those years of bad hair days. Thank you, Sedu!!!
great buy!
