I owned a Chi prior to purchasing the Sedu and I never thought I could love another product more, but i do. The Sedu is fantastic and does a better job on straightening my naturally curly hair than my Chi did. I would recommend this product to anyone with difficult hair.
Sedu simply the smoothest!

I purchased this after umpteen other knock off hair straighteners! I was told by my stylist to get a Chi, but after doing reserch decided to go with the Sedu. I used it as soon as I got it and love it! My hair is naturally wavy, dry, and I get it colored. I was desperate to stop having to have my stylist straighten it whenever I needed it done. I wanted to be able to do it myself. But it was the straighteners that were keeping me from having bone-straight-hair! This is it girls! You won't be dissapointed! Oh and when it says 360 degrees, it means it! Ouch! It makes my hair smooth, shiny, and super straight just like I like it! Thanks for a fabulous product Sedu! It is simply the smoothest!

Before I start, let me just say that I HATE doing my hair myself. I'm mixed (my mom is Arabic and White and my dad is Black) and so doing my hair myself is long, extensive and just unnecessary in my eyes. Because of this, I ALWAYS go to a salon to get my hair done and I perm my hair almost every 6 weeks that way its not curly.
Not only that, but I'm picky as hell! I HATE greasy hair and I'm very particular about how my hair has to look. It can't have too much volume otherwise I feel like I'm wearing a wig but it can't be ridiculously flat either. It has to be soft and shiny but NOT greasy or heavy feeling. Thats another reason why I pay other people to do my hair for me.
I had been reading and researching on Sedu flat irons for awhile, because I've been contemplating on whether or not to stop perming my hair altogether since I tend to color my hair a lot. After reading enough reviews (primarily from mixed/african american/latin reviewers) I decided to buy the Sedu and try it out.
I ordered it with 2 day delivery and it actually came the day after it shipped, which was surprising to me. So I reluctantly washed my hair myself, deep conditioned, and blow dried (picture 1 is my hair after being blown out). See the frizzies and the flyaways?
I put Sedu on 360 degrees (and it heats up/down in 25 seconds, which was super fast) and in about 30 minutes my hair was finished. I was VERY surprised to see that my hair came out the soft and silky texture that it usually does from salons. Coming from someone who HATES doing their hair themself, I've decided to do my hair myself AND stop perming my hair. Sedu is saving me TONS of money over time, and it really is a great product.
One thing I will suggest is the usage of BioSilk, it really helps and it moisturizes the hair and helps to mend split ends. Its expensive ($17 for a 5 oz. bottle) but it works. I didn't use enough and so my hair came out a tiny bit dry at first, but I think thats also in part to blow drying my hair - make sure you use an adequate amount but not too much to the point where your hair is greasy because BioSilk is VERY concentrated.
Also, do deep conditioning. It's vital to keeping your hair strong and manageable for all of the heat thats being applied to it.
All in all, I LOVE MY SEDU!!
I love it!

Hands down the best hair iron i have ever used and I have tried them all- Bybliss, Chi, Hot Tools- the Sedu is so much better there is no comparison
This is the second one I got and I only had to replace my last one after two years because I stepped on it and broke it. The only issue I have is trying to get my friends to stop coming to my house on the weekends before they go out to use it!!
I highly reccomend buying this product. Dont waste your money on the others. It will leave your hair perfectly straight regardless of your hair type and it will stay that way for at least two days. It will also cut down on your styling and blow dry time as you will not need to spend as much time straightening with the dryer
So much better than my old ceramic iron

I ordered the sedu as my 2nd ceramic flat iron. My first ceramic iron, a wigo 2 ", tended to snag my hair and eventually made my hair so dry and fried that I stopped using it. I got the feeling that the plates only had a little bit of ceramic in them.
The sedu has noticeably better quality plates that feel more like ceramic/tourmaline should feel- smooth and light. The swivel cord is pretty useful too. It heats up really quickly, and the temperature dial is pretty easy to adjust. I've been using the middle temperature, and it works just fine. My hair gets straight, smooth, and not fried pretty quickly.
best ever!

Sure, its great, and the only other straightener id get is the ghd, but it just strips your hair of your natural shine. i dont have a before pic, but ill post it later. the sedu kept my hair straight for a whole day going through wind, running, and a 2-hour nap. i love it already and had it for 3 months!

This is a great straightner. I have very curly, thick, and frizzy hair( my hair is wet in picture 1 so you can't see the thick/frizzy part). This straightner worked great on my hair for a while. My cousins accedentaly dropped it on the floor(not far either) and it hasn't worked good since. It semi-straightens my hair in front, and the back won't straighten. So now i am looking for a new straightner for me.
Amazing Results!

We bought this flat iron for Christmas. My daughter has very long hair and mine is even longer! I can almost sit on it.
My hair is very frizzy and wavy and out of control after I wash it. We live in Jersey and the summers are soooo humid! I had always used a blow dryer to straighten it. Then my daugher introduced me to a flat iron. It looked much better but took so long and pulled my hair. I decided to research flat irons and get the best there was. Take my advice, this one is the absolute best. It straightens your hair quickly and does not pull it at all. The iron is smooth and so is your hair! Take a look at these pictures. My friends couldn't believe it. Those I met after I started using this flat iron did NOT believe my hair was curley! Delivery was quick. Customer service was the best ane I love the pouch (which i use to set the iron down on and also to travel!).
See for your self!

This straightner worked so well with my hair...it leaves it silky, shiny, and stick straight in half the time it took me with other straightners...in which I had to go over my hair over and over again. Plus, my hair stays straight even in humid weather and the style lasts for a few days. It heats really high and amazingly fast, and doesn't break my hair and cause split ends. My hair is so much healthier after I used the Sedu!

Before purchasing this straightener.. I did as much research as I possibly could to find THE absolute best one, to avoid getting stuck with mediocre straighteners like I mistakingly have in the past. And Sedu is what I found. It is COMPLETELY worth every penny. It's amazingly lightweight and has convenient temperature control switch.. which gives your hair an extremely intense feeling and look with hardly any effort. It makes your hair not only super straight - but shiny, soft, and undamaged. Only two words can describe this straightener: simply amazing.

I have really long, naturally curly hair and it normally has taken me an hour to straighten it. It was a lot of work and so I would rarely do it. The Sedu hair straightener is a dream come true! It was hot from the moment I plugged it in, the plates feel like silk, and my hair came out so smooth and soft. It took me only 15 or 20 minutes to straighten it and it looked and felt a million times better than it ever has when straight. This was SO worth the money!
So happy I bought this.

Like anyone else reading these reviews, I was looking for a ceramic iron that i would have NO qualms about buying and have NO problems with. The Sedu is everything I hoped it would be, and everything everyone said it would be. I am extremely happy with the product... it gets my hair as straight as possible and super smooth. If you're thinking about buying one, do so!

I love my Sedu straightener. It makes my hair look awesome. I've had great compliments. People tell me I look younger, more alive. When I use the Sedu Protector with my straightener my hair looks soft, shiney, and really healthy. It's a small investment but worth it. The results are terrific!

I bought my Sedu a while ago, but decided to post a review to encourage sceptical buyers. Before I bought mine, I had a crappy straightener that cost about $30, and I got what I paid for, nothing much really. The results were horrible, and my hair would only stay straight for 30 minutes, max. So I saved up my money, and since my best friend (the one on the right in the second picture) bought a Sedu before me since she has very thick poofy/wavy hair, and i tried hers out. Wow, what a difference this straightener made! So, once I saved my money, I bought one immediately, and I am thrilled to own this straightener. I will never buy a different one! (The second picture, we both used a Sedu straightener. The first one is of my natural hair)
i've had this hair striaghtener for a year ..

I'm Alexa, and wow, this thing works! For at least three years now, I've been looking for a straightener that works in my hair... The first picture is my hair curly, but obviously it has hair products in it, and without anything in it, my hair is 10 times more curly, poofy, and frizzy. The second picture is my hair straightened, it may be hard to see, but my hair is certainly straight. The one thing about it is: I live in florida. Florida is humid. Humidity and straight hair do not go together. I wouldn't have a problem with it, because my hair stays perfectly straight inside. But my high school is half outside, meaning the humidity gets to my hair. So if you have hair exactly like mine, and your school is outside, I'd just wait until an even better straightener comes out. But I definately recommend this one, its AMAZING!

I would rate the Sedu a 5+ star if only it had "fingerholds" at the open end so I could clamp it down (two-handed) while sliding it down the hair...it's too hot to touch and hold it closed. Other than that it's an excellent flat iron with great features:
* It's VERY lightweight so it doesn't wear your arms out;
* The plate has a very smooth surface that doesn't catch your hair;
* It leaves hair very smooth and shiny that lasts for days, even in very humid climate like mine;
* It has a very long cord (nice) that swivels at the base so it doesn't get twisted;
* It has a safety wall plug [called a ground fault circuit interrupter, or GFCI]. If this device were installed in every home in the United States more than two-thirds of all residential electrocutions could be prevented; and
* the Sedu has adjustable heat dial from Low to High.
I love it....just please add the fingerhold extensions!
PS...My nickname in junior high was Bushbaby because of my wildly frizzy thick hair.
