After reading the reviews on this site, I told my boyfriend that I wanted this Sedu iron for Xmas. So he ordered it for me. I dont use it everyday, on average I use it twice a week. THEN SUDDENLY IT BROKE! In mid April (2007) I turned it on like usual (highest setting/400 degrees) and used to to put big fluffy curls in my hair (think Ferra Faucet (sp?) then about and hour later before I went out clubbin that night I turned it on again for touch-ups. It never turned back on. The little green light never came on. I just used it to do my whole head about an hour ago! I tried unplugging it and let it rest for 15 min. Still no good. I tried using it in different outlets in my house, still no good. You have to understand that this straightner is expensive and still considered new and I treated it with care! I never dropped it or anything! I barely had this straighter for less than 4 months and I dont even use it 3 times a week and it breaks! The reason I didnt go with a Chi when shopping around for a straightner back in Dec of 2006 is because Ive heard from like 7 people not to buy Chi's (including my own hairdresser) because they've had problems with the power cord. My old crappy Remington ceramic straightner that I paid $40.00 and bought at Target 4 years ago lasted longer than this Sedu 1 1/2 inch! I must admit, it did do a good job (when it was working), it never pulled my hair, it just didnt last long at all! Luckly my boyfriend still had the invoice email and he emailed Folica (it's under warrenty via Folica for 12 months, which is a really good warrenty program) so I had to put it back in it's box, go to the post office, wait in line, pay to ship it back to Folica, (about $6.00) include a check written out to Folica for $9.95 for them to ship it back to me along with a letter explaining the problem and my order # etc. Folica just emailed my boyfriend today and I guess they are just replacing it, today is May 4th, and I should be getting my new on Sedu May 9th...
IF you do buy this straightner just remember to save the box and your paperwork/emails!!! GOODLUCK!

I got my sedu in the mail and couldnt wait to try it. It is the best thing I have ever used to straighten my hair with and at first I didn't know if I should spend that kind of money on something that I didnt know would even work but I am gald I did. If it ever goes out I will buy another one no questions asked. So if you are thinking of buying one you should go for it you wont be disappointed.

Sedu is quite obviously a professional iron. You will know this the second you use it. It is great for persons with carpal tunnel or who get hand cramps. This is because it literally glides through the hair with minimal effort. As a result, styling time is reduced by at least 1/3 to 1/2. It also heats up in less than one minute. There is also no burned smell that comes from using a cheapo gold plated iron.
I am an African American with natural hair, which is probably a 3b/4a. My hair is soft, cottony, with some defined curls, but quite tangly. After a roller set, flat ironing my hair on a setting between 360 and 410 is a breeze. I actually like doing my hair now!!!
Is this worth $125? I can't answer that, since I haven't spent this much money on a flat iron before. But I can say that it is the best iron I have ever used, and I don't regret buying it.
Sedu is a great product, but it won't repair damaged hair, or otherwise create miracles. See my tips section for using Sedu in conjunction with a healthy hair plan for African Americans or those with really, really curly hair.

I neededto purchase a new hair straightner and after reading several reviews I opted for this model. I was very pleased with my choice. I have very thick curly hair and it makes my hair look like I was born with straight hair when I am finished. This straightner not only straightens my hair quickly but my hair looks shiney and healthy as well. I liked the variable heat settings, so when I do a touch up I can use less heat. I highly recommend the Sedu straightner.

I first tried my friend's Sedu while visiting back home in Hawaii, and after that first use, I was convinced to purchase one of my own. I've been through a few flat-irons and so far this has been the best of them all. Especially moving from Hawaii to California (Bay Area), my hair got dry (due to lack of humidity and moisture in the air), and then to use my older flat-irons from what I had (Hot Tools, Sharper Image), wasn't quite working out for me. This Sedu flat iron keeps the shine in my hair. It cut down my flat-ironing time in half. It now only takes me about 10-15 minutes to flat-iron my whole hair, which is amazing! So far it's the best for me!

i have both a sedu and a chi. the chi is bad because there are no heat settings, it can over heat. the sedu is perfect!! my hair is really thick and i can straighten my hair in 10 minutes. plus the sedu is supppperr light weight so it makes it really easy to straighten! i definatly reccomend this to everyone!

My old straightener was only 1/2" and this one is 1 1/2" and it is sooo great!! It only takes like half the time to straighten my hair. I can dry my hair and straighten it in like 20 minutes!!! I love it!!!

My hair loves this flat iron! My naturally wavy hair is perfectly straight, shiny, AND it stays that way until I wash it again. No frizz, no random waves by the end of the day. I highly recommend this to everyone!

It takes about as long to straighten my hair with this as it did with my Hot Tools flat iron (about an hour), but this doesn't snag AT ALL. It also doesn't leave my hair feeling brittle or damaged. TOTALLY worth the money.

I'VE HAD THIS FOR FOUR YEARS NOW, DROPPED IT PLENTY OF TIMES, LEFT IT ON FOR HOURS ON ACCIDENT PLENTY OF TIMES, STILL WORKS PERFECTLY LIKE BRAND NEW.

I have always had really fuzzy hair, and i just wanted to have straight hair like everyone else- now my hair finally just looks straight and my ends don't look dead. this is the third type of flat iron i have had, it is well worth the money.

I encourage everyone to get this straightener. It's amazing! I've tried many. My last was a maxiglide, but i've never had a straightener work this well. It makes my naturally curly hair shiny and pin straight. I live in Iowa and the humidity here is out of this world, but I don't have to worry anymore. Today the humidity was at 95% and my hair didn't budge, even when I went outside for an hour and a half with my preschool class. It also cut my straightening time in half and I don't have to straighten my hair again until I wash it. I also suggest the Sedu moisturizing heat protecting boost, shine therapy protector by Sedu and the BaByliss pro procelain hair dryer. All wonderful products that make your hair shiny and healthy. Thank Sedu and Folica.

My girlfriend absolutely loves the sedu flat iron that I bought for her birthday. She loves how straight it makes her hair, and it only takes her about 5-10 minutes to do, which means I don't have to wait too long for her to get ready :) I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a flat iron.

I been using the Sedu flat iron now for a few weeks and I am very happy with it. Straightens my hair in no time flat (pun intended!). Heats up very fast also. I recommend this to anyone wanting an excellent flat iron and not just a mediocre flat iron!

This is the best hair straightener I've ever used. I have really thick hair and it used to take me about 45 minutes to an hour to get it really straight with my ceramix hair straightener. I can straighten my hair in 10 minutes with this and it goes poker straight. no waves or anything!

I bought the 1-1/2" because I thought it might work better for my daughter's long hair, but I don't think you need to. She really loves it, though, and I'm glad I decided on the Sedu. She is straightening her hair a lot more often because it hardly takes any time to do. We're happy!

I love my flat iron. My hair is naturally super curly and I've tried many dollars of products to help smooth and straighten my hair. This flat iron makes me feel like a new woman! My friends can't believe their eyes and I can stop running my finger through my silky hair. It's like I'm wearing a wig! Now I can be curly one day and straight and silky the next.
