Product Rating: 5 Best Flat Iron!!
Reviewer: Jennifer from Spring, TX  Mon Aug 13 2007

My family has always used the Chi flat iron and it got to the point where it was going out so I found Folica.com and read reviews on the Sedu and it sounded like the perfect iron for my family. We all have very thick hair. The Sedu is WAY better than the Chi, I can do my hair in 20 minutes with the Sedu where as before it took and hour with the Chi. Strongly recommend this product!!!!!

My Sedu just completely died on me, and I wanted to warn others before you spend so much money on one. I had a Salano Sapphire that lasted me 5 years and still works even now (7 years later), but I replaced it with the Sedu a year and a half ago because Sedu is a little more efficient. But just as another review says, I'm now having the problem where the green light flickers and then the thing turns off and you have to mess with it for 20 minutes- NOT worth it!! THere are better straighteners out there. My warranty just expired, conveniently for Sedu, so now I have to spend another $150 and I'm going with Paul Mitchell instead this time!!!!! Be very careful buying this- works great for a year and then its OUT!

I recently purchased this flat iron. I already have a Fhi 1' flat iron, but it is rather small. I needed a larger one for my hair, being that it has grown to the middle of my back. I have course, thick, dry hair (black/ethinic) so I needed a flat iron that would deliver. When I purchased the Fhi,I did a little research. I remembered coming across this website and I began reading the reviews for the Sedu, as well as checking the ratings for flat irons. I am a woman who does her own hair, not out of neccessity, but because I feel that every woman should be able to do her own hair and not have to depend upon a stylist if she chooses not to. Well, when I opened that box and used the Sedu for the first time...I thought "This is fabulous, absolutely fabulous!" Now, I am one to put down the bucks for hair supplies, but I am a picky shopper as well. It wasn't that the Fhi had anything wrong with it, it was just that it was too small. Needless to say, I am very satisfied!

Overall, this is a good straightener. If you compare it to a conair or any other straightener at wal-mart, target etc. its great. But it is definetly not the best. I used the sedu with biosilk (by the way, that stuff is amazing) and i didnt even get 1/4 of the way through my hair before i took out my old straightener and finished my hair. My old straightener is a jilbere tourmaline iron from Sally's Beauty Supply and it was 59.99 and it works wonderfully. The only reason why bought the sedu was because how good everyone made it sound. The reason why i think that the sedu is just average is because it doesnt have a tight "clamp." Meaning that the iron does not press the hair making it as straight as it could be. This straightener should only be about $50. So Im sending it back and will keep using my old straightener until it goes out.

This Flat iron is amazing! I had a MaxiGlide before, but after a year of using it, it started to not heat up, so i got the Sedu. It left my hair so sliky and super smooth, and more healthy looking.
I also like the fact that the Sedu is super light and very compact, so you won't get tired arms anymore, and i also like the fact that this thing heats up super fast, unlike my MaxiGlide which took exactly 5 minutes. If you are worried about the price like i was, don't; Because you will get amazing results. Also, Folica is great with shipping! It came in only 3 days.
Woo! Best Flat Iron ever!

Reviewer: Donna from Florida  Thu Aug 09 2007

I live in a hot & humid state, and with my wavy, highlighted hair it was a nightmare trying to hold any style. (Most of the time I pulled it back in a ponytail.) After trying and disgrading most straightening irons, I ordered Sedu from Folica. Finally, something that works even in this climate. My very long hair gets straight in half the time, stays straight. Unbelievable. I must also give some of the credit to the Ojon products I use especially the Shine Serum (before straightening), and the gloss (a dime size on dry hair.) However, NOTHING has worked miracles like Sedu. I had to wait for mine, as they were on back order, and it was well worth the wait. And, I must add that the service and the people at Folica are unmatched, they are wonderful. BELIEVE THE REVIEWS, and order Sedu. I might add I own the dryer, too and it dries my hair in minutes when I just want to go natural.

Product Rating: 5 Sedu Ionic Ceramic Termaline Straightener
Reviewer: Tiffany   Thu Aug 09 2007

My hair is very wavy and sorta thick! I have only had one strightener and it was a Conair I bought it for like $15-20 dollars, and it didnt work very well. So, I stopped using it and I just wore my hair up in a ponytail. I hated my hair. So, after a few months I started looking for a new one. I saw the CHI straightener but it was $200 and I didnt want to spend that much, so I keep on looking. Then I found a "Top ten best sellers & best rated", the Sedu Ionic Ceramic Termaline Straightener (1½") was one the top of both lists. So, I decided to take a look and see if it was what I was looking for. I looked through the reviews and I KNEW it was what I was looking for and it was only $125.95! I decided to buy it. The day after I ordered it I was sitting at home on the computer and I heard the doorbell ring. I opened the door and it was my Straightener!! It only took ONE day to get it when it said 4-6 days! Once I got it I plugged it in and it took less then 15sec to heat. I started to straighten my hair and I was surprised with the results! It took less then 5min to straighten my hair! I LOVE THIS Straightener! I would reccommend this straightener to ANYONE!! I love it! I hope it continues to do well, because I just got it today!

I have always used regular straightners that I bought from my local drug store, they work ok but they tend to leave your hair dry and frizzy. This is the first time I used the sedu flat iron and it works exceptionally well. This is the best flat iron that I have ever used and its lightweight too. I will never use another product again unless its a sedu flat iron! Now my hair is straight without frizz and sleek and smooth and that makes me happy. Thank you for a great flat iron!

Reviewer: Lori from Northern Virginia  Wed Aug 08 2007

I received my Sedu Flat Iron today. I couldn't wait to try it out and see if the hype was real. I was skeptical at first, but OMG!!!! This is the BEST flat iron I have ever used(and I have tried, conair, revlon, and another generic brand). Normally, it takes me about 15-20 minutes to straigten my hair, and even then it is never completely straight. With the Sedu, I was done in 5 mintues! The plates are very smooth. My course, frizzy hair just glided right through it. My hair feels silky, soft and is now very straight(maybe even alittle too straight, but next time I know I don't need to use the highest temperature). It's going to be hot and humid tomorrow, so I will see how well my hair holds up in the humid east coast weather. =) I am another satisfied customer, and so happy I bought this! =)

I almost bought a CHI but somehow came along this brand when reading reviews. I am so happy I found folica and the Sedu flat iron! Easy to use, doesn't require repeat use on sections to smooth hair out. A+++++

OMG!!! I had had my CHI for about 2 years and when it broke a couple weeks ago, i was going to just buy a new one but then i heard about the SEDU. I read alot of reviews on it and finally decided to get one. So, my SEDU came today and i decided to try it out just now. HOLY CRAP!!! This is the best straightener i have ever had-- it is WAY better than the CHI. I normally have very thick, poofy, dull, frizzy, and dry hair but as soon as i used this straightener my hair went to straight, soft and shiny. I am completely in love with this straightener and i will never ever ever again use anything else!!! i am sooooooooo happy i found this-- it truly is a miracle straightener!!!! :)

I have really long hair, all the way down to my waist. my hair isn't frizzy, or out of control, its just wavy half way down , but I always envy pin straight hair so I purchased this flat iron, and it worked wonders, in a matter of 40 minutes I had really straight hair, and it stayed that way until I came in contact with water the next day swimming. However after using it for couple days I decided to return it simply because it was taking to long everyday to straighten my hair.So I searched folica to see if they have another flat iron with bigger plate , something in a range of two inches, so it that would save me time each morning before work. anyway my advice is if you have long hair this is a very tiny flat iron, so it would take at least 30 minutes to do all your hair. you can only do tiny sections of hair at a time , but with a bigger one its faster. My two inch chi is on the way, and hopefully it will take less time.

I ordered the Sedu after much hesitation and now my only complaint is that I waited this long to buy it. I contemplated between the Chi and the Sedu and after comparing my Sedu to my friends Chi I am VERY happy with my decision. For years I had been using the cheap straightners from the department stores because I just couldn't bring myself to spend $150. However, it is well worth the price, my hair doesn't feel dry and damaged anymore. It's very light weight and the temperature stays consistent throughout use. It makes my hair feel so soft, doesn't snag and pull my hair like my old one. I ordered my Sedu on a Thursday afternoon and received it Friday morning. FOLICA.COM is awesome!

I have naturally curly, thick, coarse hair. I recently got my hair cut and the lady straightened it with a flat iron. I loved it so much I decided to purchase a straightener. She suggested I get a Chi. After researching and reading all the reviews I decided to try the Sedu. For this kind of money I wanted it to work for a while. I get the exact same results and hopefully it will last much longer than a Chi. It's a wonderful, wonderful straightener!

I have naturally straight hair with a few waves. It is about medium thickness and is quite frizzy from straightening it for 5 years. When I read the reviews on this site, I knew that Sedu was the flat iron I wanted. I have had two other flat Irons, a Conair one, which worked okay until my hair was fried. A Isnis (I think that is what its called) which was also produced really good results, but after awhile started to smell like it was on fire. I got the Sedu for my birthday and as soon as it arrived straightened my hair. The results were just as good as my Isnis one, but it didnt smell and it did seem to glide much easier. It also got rid of some of my fly aways, but not all. However, I dont get the same amazing awe sturck results as the other reviewers. The only thing I dont like about the Sedu is its terrible reviews about its cord. I am so worried that I am going to break it that I have to keep it on my desk at all times because I am afraid to break the cord. But other than that the Sedu is a good flat iron, but I have yet to see how it is better than the Isnis that I already own.

After so many positive reviews I convinced myself I had to have this straightener. I have medium wavy hair and bought the Sedu straightener about 1 year ago. It worked great for about 3 weeks at which it would only stay on 3 seconds then turn off and would only turn on again if I used it at a certain angle. I was like no big deal and returned product and got a new Sedu same model. The straightener worked great 7 months then the same thing happened...would show on for 3 seconds then turn off. Very frustrating. What I do is leave it at a certain angle for about 1 minute, then straighten what I can, then repeat till the job gets done.

Pros: Does not take very long to heat up (10 seconds if its working properly). Also it stays hot after you turn it off and in my case that can be beneficial. Its slim.

Cons: Expensive. Short-lived life span. Also hair does not stay straight throughout whole day. Also it straightens but leaves kinda a poof some might call it volume I call it a malfunction.

This iron is amazing! I had a chi and after a while it started making my hair look dry and frizzy. The first time using this it made me hair completley straight, silky, shiny and frizz-free. I have very thick and wavy hair and this made it flatter and smooth while still leaving in a little volume.

I just have to say that I love this product. It makes my hair so flat and it also makes it look really shiny and healthy looking. I had a Paul Mitchell flat iron but it stopped working after one year so I don't recommend buying one of those.

Product Rating: 3 It's good for the price...
Reviewer: Katie from San Jose, Ca  Thu Aug 02 2007

I bought the Sedu straightening iron about a month ago and I have to admit, I was expecting a better product. After using my Chi straightening iron for over 2 years, it's is going to take me awhile to get used to this one. It does get the job done, and your hair comes out shinny, but my other iron did the same thing. My only real complaint about this iron is that the head gets so hot when on, you can't even touch the outer area without getting burned, I liked that my chi didn't heat up on the exterior and had a nice velvet lining to ensure proper comfort. Other than over heating on the exterior, it works fine. It's not great, but it's good for the price, and like I mentioned before it gets the job done. I still prefer my old Chi straightening iron, but its old now and I'd thought I'd try something new. Also, it doesn't leave your hair very flat, it's kind of puffy after the first time your straighten it. You have to sleep on it and re-straighten the next day so your hair will be flatter and not as kinky.
