This hair straightener was purchased for my daughters who straighten their hair everyday. It works wonderfully on their thick, wavy hair. We are very happy with this product. We ordered this brand to replace a Solia and feel this brand works much better.
Worked as advertised, GREAT!

Very pleased with Sedu Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Straightener. Unit heats up very fast and ready to use. Hair does not get tangled or stuck on plates during straightening. What used to take 20 minutes can be done in 5-7. Because of the length of time, I used to avoid straightening. However, because the SEDU is so fast, there is always enough time for a quick straighten in the morning or before an event.
I highly recommend this product and gladly give 5 stars.

With well over 3000 reviews that have, on average, disagreed with me, I feel kind of intimidated writing a less-than-stellar review but here goes: I have curly, bi-racial hair. I'd describe it as normal; not intensely thick and leaning towards caucasian in texture. I bought the Sedu after using a 1" Chi, which despite great design broke shortly after a year ("great design" because I'm pretty sure the people at Farouk are benefiting intensely from the fact that their brilliant irons break a day after the warranty expires). I did some research and so many people were saying "better than the Chi!" that I decided not to replace it, but buy the highly-esteemed Sedu. I'm pretty well-versed with hair just by fighting with my own as well as others' and I'd say honestly that Sedu is about 80% as good as the Chi, but with work and more skill than should be required with an over-$100 iron, you can get even better results. Your hair will likely feel dry and look dull, however, after battling with it to make your hair perfectly straight. If your hair isn't thick, coarse and/or damaged, this iron will probably work perfectly [or be entirely excessive]. If you're one who would use the word "battling" and mean it while describing your hairstyling process, this iron probably won't do much but frustrate you and leave you with a head of straight but eventually straw-like hair.
Two other points:
1- The description says ergonomic, but I'm pretty sure this is only describing the weight of the unit. The plates don't line up perfectly. They meet at an angle which causes 1/4 of the hair per section to get straighter and receive more direct heat than the rest of the section.
2- The plates are significantly shorter than your standard 100+ dollar iron. I think that length is a lot more important than width in how quickly and with how much control you can do your hair.
3- I experienced pulling in the drier sections of my hair that I'd never experienced with any other iron (but that's quickly resolved with a leave-in conditioner of sorts)
4- It's a good iron! Just thought it'd be nice to have some perspective-especially if you're hair is of African descent or otherwise naturally coarse and especially if you're expecting some kind of miracle based on the reviews and want some more insight beyond: "bEsT iroN eVerRrrRrr!".

This product straightened my hair beautifully. With other straightners my hair was still frizzing and wavy. This leaves my hair smooth, flat and straight for days. I highly reccommend it.

i was pretty excited when ordering but i thought it couldn't be as good as all the reviews but it is!! i used to straighten my hair one every two or three months because it was such a pain, now it's like every other day or so!!

I love that I can use my Sedu and know that it's not going to damage my hair. After I use my Sedu, my hair looks healthy and shiny! I can use it as a straightener and also curl the ends of my hair like a curling iron. I am very happy with my purchase and look forward to using it for a long time!

i've tried friends' CHIs many times and never even liked it, but i have fallen in love with this ceramic iron (basically wanted free shipping so added to my cart on a whim)! the CHI never worked for me because (like my mom always insists) i have straight hair and it's not that thick. the fact that you can change the temp. on the sedu is what i love the most - it allows everyone to benefit from the greatness that is a ceramic iron. heats up fast and gets the job done! love love love it..

I chose this hair straightener because it seemed to have the highest ranking of all the straighteners on the website. This straightener makes my hair so silky and smooth. I do use a little bit of hair product before straightening my hair, but it is the same stuff that I used with my old hair straightener, and I never got these kinds of results with the old one! I also like that it heats up very quickly.

I was very disappointed with the results. Sedu does not do the job it promises to and it certainly is not worth the amount of money it cost. I had better results with the a much less expensive straightner, I'm sorry I gave it away.

My Previous Experience:
Ok...so I had this 20$ Conair 'ceramic' hair straightener and it was bad....I mean it never got my hair straight....took me 20-30 mins just to get some straightness...I was tired of it..my stylist suggested that I buy a CHI straightener...now now...200$!...I thought that was just way to expensive....so I did a little research on my own n landed on folica where I saw the reviews for Sedu were much better than CHI...the price I thought compared to CHI was great too...so I went for one after reading reviews from numerous other sites too...I got a SEDU!
My SEDU Experience:
Alright...was it all worth it?...in short yes.....is my hair exactly the way they straighten it at salon...no...why so?....coz when others do it for u the results are way much better....I straighten my hair myself and by my skills...I cannot achieve exactly salon like hair at home...but hey it still comes out great!..
1) Heats us easily...
2) 5 temp settings...
3) I have below shoulder hair (abt 6-7 inches below shounder) and I can get done with good results in appox 10 mins..
4) The case I got along with it for free is great for holding the iron too
My Opinion:
I think I did the right choice...the price is right n if someone else does my hair I am sure I can get salon results...but I am happy with doing it myself and wud definately recommend it...just remember to use good shampoo, conditioner and smoothing gel to use before u use any hair straightener..

My decision to buy the Sedu was based on previous reviews - so I wanted to jump on the band wagon.....I've had my hair chemically straightened for a couple years [about every 9-12 mos] - I loved it but started getting breakage. When my cheapo flat iron kicked the bucket, I looked for an alternative. I am really glad I did. I don't have to play tug and pull - I just dry it, then flatten - it really makes my hair smooth and shiny. Florida humidity can be my hair's worst enemy but rest assured, the Sedu will defeat that enemy! I would [already have] highly recommended this product.

I can get my hair done in about 20 min. Everyone at school thinks it takes me hours since my hair is so long and frizzy. After I do my hair it looks so sleek and pretty. I get compliments on it every single day. And guys seem to be just a little more attracted to me since my hair is looking so darn good looking!

This is the best straightener out there hands down.
It heats up within 30 seconds, and never pulls or tugs your hair.
it goes through so smoothly and straightens half the time my other one does.
i have really really curly and frizzy hair, and even though it takes a bit longer than more people to straighten, it still doesthe job flawlessly.
If you're even THINKING about buying this straightener, buy it...NOW...and from folica...their prices are cheaper than anywhere else.
even cheaper than ebay.

We've tried a number of hair straighteners, and this has been the only one that straightened my daughter's hair without any frizz. Her hair turns out soft, very straight and shiny. She (age 13) uses the straightener by herself without any trouble. Even though this unit costs more than all the others that we had tried, it has been well worth the money. We highly recommend this unit.

I live in a very humid area and my naturally curly hair is always frizzy - even after straightening it. However, since I've been using the Sedu flat iron, I don't have any more frizzies or curls and by the end of the day my hair is still straight. This flat iron is definitely better than the Fhi which I also own.
