This is by far my favorite straightener that i have ever used...i own a Chi and it doesnt even compare to the Sedu. However...I have owned 2 Sedu's and both times the cord shorted out after less than 6 months. To me, that is not worth the money i paid. I love the straightener and would consider ordering it again if I knew that i wouldnt need a new one after 5 months. I have thick hair that is curly/wavy and it really works great. Too bad it doesnt last.

umm i think this iron is better on dark, courser hair.
i was disappointed with my own results compared to the reviews here..
i think i should've gotten a CHI, because my hair isn't even that soft or shiny compared to my old straightener. on the other hand, my hair's pretty dang straight and it does feel healthy. i just don't think it's as good as the hype on this site makes it out to be.

This is my first time splurging on a hair tool, after reading the reviews I felt like making the risk and getting the Sedu flat-iron. Now, I have long hair (all the way down to the end of my back) and it's curly, and without intensive use of hair products it's VERY FRIZZY. I had given up on straightening my hair on regular basis and left doing that for special occasions when I wanted to impress and what not. It would take me 3-4 HOURS straightening my hair (not exaggerating!) because I have to blow dry-it straight (layer by layer) and then go over it with a flat iron (also layer by layer) and my hair is thick too, so you can imagine how many layers I have to go over. By the time I'm done, I seriously go lay down because I get so tired of standing and having my arms up in the air for so long. Anyway, I considered this flat-iron an experiment, so I took a shower, dried my hair with a towel (THE ENEMY OF CURLY HAIR!), put a quarter size amount of anti-frizz polishing milk (only because I wanted to protect my hair from the heat..not to smooth it!), and I let my hair AIR-DRY to let it get as frizzy as possible. Once it was dry, I turned on the flat-iron and went upstairs to grab a hair brush, I came down, looked at it and was shocked that it was ALREADY HOT! (it was like 20 seconds..and I had it on about 370 degrees!!!). Then I began to straighten my hair as I normally do it, small sections and layer by layer. IT SERIOUSLY TOOK ME 45 MINUTES (it would literally be less than 40 minutes..if you take out the time I took separating my hair and brushing the hair sections in between and all that!). I am IN COMPLETE DISBELIEF..it took me 40 MINUTES TO STRAIGHTEN MY HAIR, and I say it STRAIGHTENED, I mean it was PIN-STRAIGHT, and SUPER-SHINY too!!!!!!..I looooooove this iron it has done a miracle for me tonight. I had to go over each hair section only once to straighten it, and my hair didn't get caught between the plates or any of that, it was a BREEZE!!!. I will so say good-bye to the old days when I had to literally SCHEDULE A DAY for straightening my hair. Now I can show off my long, thick, black hair whenever I want. BUY THIS IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY OF THE $115!!!!

the SEDU is the best flat iron out there!!! i have really long,curly,thick,hair && in the need of finding a GREAT straightner!! i deceided to get the SEDU because of all the great reviews!!!! THIS STRAIGHTNER IS THE BEST!!!!! I WOULD RECCOMEND IT TO ANYONE!!!!!

My hair is thick, curly. I bought couple hair strighteners from different department stores. Non of them worked.I trashed them. I love Folica it really makes my hair nice and silky and the most important it straightens it perfectly. It does not destroy my hair. I love it , love it. Don't waste your money on over the counter hair straighteners.
Sedu Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron (1 1/2")is easy to use and I love the heat adjusting button. I love the long electrical cord. I can get out of my bathroom and watch TV while I am straightening my hair.
Definitely worth what I paid for.
Died after 4 months!

When I first read all the reviews about the Sedu, I knew I had to get one. My hair was long, FRIZZY, and in desperate need of a good flat iron. I decided to bite the bullet and pay the $115. BIG MISTAKE!!! At first it worked perfectly-- gave me the smooth, sleek, straight look I craved. But after about 4 months of use, it died for no apparent reason. I only used it about 3 times a week, and I took excellent care of it. The only reason this deserves 2 stars is because it worked well when it still worked! Now I own a Remington Wet2Straight and it works almost as well for a fifth of the price!

I want to give it 5 star. Because its everything good other reviewers are talking about. I feel like I'm born with straight hair.. hair becomes so soft and shiny, doesn't damage hair, takes less time, hair stays straight longer (if you can stay out of shower that is :)). But will give it 4 star for right now, just 'cause - my Sedu stopped working after 10 months. I read a review which said somebody is using it from 3 years. I do really want to believe that mine was just a faulty piece. But I'm gonna come back give it a 5 star when I use my replacement Sedu from Folica for more than a year. And Folica has been good as well. Prompt, good customer service.

If I could be in love with a flat iron, this would be it. I promise you won't be disappointed. I've had mine for years and it simply works the best and actually has made my hair healthier - it's the ionic component for sure. Just ceramic flat irons would dry out my hair. Cuts flat ironing time in half at least because it straightens in one swipe. ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT!

If you are looking for an awesome flat iron look no further. Purchase a Sedu. You'll love it! I would highly recommend purchasing a Sedu if you want super straight, sleek, smooth, soft, shiny, sexy, healthy hair. I know it seems kind of expensive but it's totally worth it. It is a great investment if you straighten you hair daily. It's much less damaging to your hair that those other cheapo flat irons. Plus they break right away. The Sedu does not pull on my hair at all and I love that the tempurature is adjustable. Since using the Sedu my hair has become much healthier, shinier, and I have way less split ends. I have been using the Sedu for about 4 months now. I had admired it for about 6 months and debated about getting it. The reviews seemed to good to be true. I decided to go for it based on the great reviews and give it a try. I am so glad that I did. It is one of the best purchases that I have ever made for my hair. Even my hair stylist was amazed in the difference it made on my hair. She now wants a Sedu. Every one that tries mine wants one. I wish I would have known about the Sedu a long time ago. All these years I've been damaging my hair and I could have been Sedu-ing my hair.

I am Black woman with permed hair and I was skeptical about the iron. It took 15 minutes to straighten my entire head - I was amazed. It's bouncy and shiny and most of all STRAIGHT. This is the best thing since sliced bread.

I purchased this flat iron less than 6 months ago. I wanted a tourmaline flat iron and truthfully, it worked very well on my hair; it made a big difference, My hair was always very smooth and I had a lot of compliments. It was easy to use and I could do my hair very quickly. But you would think that an item that costs over $100 would last a little longer than a few months. It recently just shorted out and stopped working. For the price, there should be a better guarantee. I am disappointed. I gave it a low rating only because it didn't last and I have heard others with the same complaint.

I bought this iron about 2 years ago and loved it at the time. I cut my hair short and it was too large to use, so I bought the smaller pink CHI iron. Long story short, my hair is now long enough to go back to using this one and what a difference. I hadn't realized how TOTALLY SUPERIOR this iron is to my CHI until I used it again. The CHI sticks, is too hot and damaged my hair really badly. If I go short again I am going to invest in a smaller Sedu and throw away the CHI.

This is a very good flat iron in that it straightens well with minimal hair damage. However, after only one (1) year the swivel connection between the iron and the cord became loose and the iron stopped working. Because of this, I cannot recommend it.

Just went out an bought my Sedu at Ulta. Brought it home and used it already and holy cow! It is about 90 degrees and sticky-humid as all get out, and even tho I was sweating like a mad woman while ironing my hair, it worked like magic! It was so fast and easy. I did not section my hair really either, just tied up the top half and straightened the underneath, let the rest down and straightened that. Took a whopping 15 minutes at most and my hair is very thick, coarse & wavy! I hated the process of straightening my hair before, but I see a lot less pony tails in my future now! I love this iron!
Effective but question it's quality.

I think this product is really great when it works. I have thick hair and it does the job. My only problem is, I've gone through 3 Sedu flat irons within the last year for two reasons, first and third flat irons stopped heating and second replacement was a defective product. I ordered it through folica.com and am truly not satisfied. I use it daily on the highest heat level for approximately 30 - 45 minutes and use it very carefully. I recently sent customer service another complaint regarding this matter and I would like to know the problem. Can this product not handle the highest level of heat for a long period of time for using it daily. I agree with all that say it straightens hair wonderfully because this is the best product I've ever purchased. I just want to know why it stops heating out of nowhere. I basically question the quality all in all since I do use it on the highest heat level.

I've been using my SEDU now for over a year and it's the best Flat Iron I've ever had!! I've had 5 different ones in the past and this is the only one that will NOT damage my hair. Everytime I use it I get very sleeky, silky and tamed hair. All my friends got one after seeing the result on my hair and they love it too!!
Totally worthy the price!!

I researched this flat iron for days and talked my mom into buying it for me because i kept going through the cheepies at wal mart. I absolutelty loved it at first..but then it started to not hold heat well & then one day it just shut off..right after the warrenty was up. I love the way it worked in the beginning..but to spend this much money for 1 year is a lot. I then rushed to my local Sally's Beauty Supply bought one costing around $50 and it's been going for three years without loosing any heat.
