this was the best flat iron I ever bought. i've had it for a year now and it still works like a charm. it doesn't damage my hair like other straighteners did and its perfect for people with thick wavy hair. it use to take me an hour to straighten my hair... now it takes me only 15min.. and i have A LOT of hair. =)

This hair straightner is the best. It heats up fast, and makes hair look soft, shiney and straight. Its easy to use, I even use it to curl my ends. For the price you won't go wrong.
Works great!

I have wavy, dry, frizzy hair and its long past my shoulders. Before Sedu it took me about 1-1/2 hours to blow dry and straighten my hair becuase of how many strokes I had to do with my old flat iron just to get it to go straight. With Sedu I blow dry one section 3 or 4 strokes then ONE stroke YES ONLY ONE STROKE down with Sedu and whuala straight healthy and shiny! I love it

We always bought Chi flat irons because they work so well on our super curly hair. Then one day, my daughter was doing a search on flat irons after our Chi died and she stumbled upon the rave reviews for the Sedu. We took the plunge and purchased one. Here we thought we already had the best flat iron in a Chi. Well the Sedu is even better. It heats up faster, seems to get hotter and produces super smooth hair in less time. We LOVE it and would recommend (and in fact we have) it to anyone looking for a superior flat iron.

I have tried the Chi and others that cost much more than this. They don't leave your hair near as silky and don't straighten as well. Also there isn't that "drag" as you are running it through your hair. I love mine.
worth it!

at first i was very very confused about which one to buy between Sedu and Solia! I was doing almost a research! I was confused beacause both were equally great by the reviews and pictures.......but when i asked my husband he said why not go for the top one? So i bought the Sedu with more price and tried it once, i liked it! I have normal hair which is not curly, a little wavy, so it took only 10 minutes and my hair was really straight. And when i combed my hair on the next morning, it was still straight! So, i am happy at least now.......but don't know how my hair gonna adjust with it when i use more and more, lets hope for the best!
Easy to use!

So, I've been faily naive to the whole straightening tools, and was given a much cheaper straightener in the past..that I used very occasionally with mild results..This is definently like going from motel to a 5 star hotel.lol. It takes a few minutes to straighten my hair, and I have wavy hair, so it does usually take going thru it twice..but once I've done it, it looks great, so I can't complain at all..If you've never tried a professional flat iron, this is def the way to go!I get alot of compliments when I use it, but I'm lazy in general, so haven't used it too much. the only draw back is that the end gets hot, so you can't brace it with both hands..but you really don't need to either. spend the extra money and get this!!

I read everyone's reviews and trusted that this many people could not be wrong -- and I was right! It took me forever to buy a real good straightener, I was running through the Hot Tools and Helen of Troy ones like once a year, and I finally found this one. It works so fast, it used to take me over an hour to blowdry and straighten my hair, and now, I can let my hair airdry and straighten it in maximum ten minutes! Thanks to all the other reviewers for guiding me in the right direction, this tool will smooth and straighten your hair in no time. Thanks Folica!

I've had this flat iron for about 3 or 4 years. I was tired of buying $40 flat irons that didn't work well, so I finally spent over $100 for this one and it's been a good investment. It has taken some beatings as it's fallen off the counter a few times, but still works great!

When paying this much for a flat iron I expect it to do a great job and last a long, long time. After a few days the plates on the iron began to not match up. It just kept getting more and more offset and the plates don't even line up anymore. Not a durable flat iron.

I've got really long, thick, curly hair and I've tried many different flat irons....from the cheap revlon, conairs to the chis and solias and this is the only one that I absolutely can not live without. When I straightened my hair with other flat irons my hair would still be kind of frizzy, still pretty thick and it looked really dry. With the sedu, my hair is so flat and straight and it actually looks healthier than before. It comes out sooo smooth and shiny, even if I don't put any products in it. I use heat protecting spray just so my hair won't get damaged. Also, I live in a very humid area and it doesn't affect my hair once it's straight. I absolutely love it!! It's a lil expensive compared to the other brands, but trust me it is worth every penny. You won't regret buying this flat iron at all!!
Amazing!

I have thick, coarse hair that gets fuzzy with the least bit of humidity. I used the Sedu for the first time - sectioned my hair with clips and sprayed TreSemme heat spray on it. It heated up quickly and was so eaay to use. It flattened my hair, made it shiny and soft. No more frizz. It made it look as if I had used a chemical relaxer. I'm a believer.

I bought the 1-1/2" Sedu about three months ago and i love it. its so dependable. it never snags your hair and is perfect for flipping it in or out. however, you cannot actually curl it...at least not with my hair type. i have very long, thick, kinda wavy hair and this flat iron works great! its smooth and straight all day long!!!

I apologize in advance for not having any pictures to share with everybody. I am without camera right now, but as soon as I get one I would be more than happy to share some photos when I get the chance.
I had misplaced my previous iron (which was a CHI), and I was initially thinking about just buying another one.
I was doing some surfing one night, and I found an advertisement from Folica.com located on Beauty Brains that displayed an ad of the top ten flat irons -- Sedu being at the very top of that list.
I clicked the link for Sedu to see what all the fuss was about, and like others I was initially skeptical about it. Could it be better than the CHI?
Yes, this product out-performed the CHI!
It not only heated up quickly, and it wasn't bulky like other irons -- I also liked the fact that I could select how hot or how cool the iron got.
It didn't tug or pull on the hair, and it didn't smell like my hair was being burned -- it straightened my hair quickly and efficiently without causing any fly-aways (which happened quite a bit with my CHI).
In closing...
Even though this particular flat iron is expensive, I think it's worth every red cent, and I'm sure that this particular will pay for itself in the long run because of the excellent quality.

This is by far the best flat iron I have used. I tried chi, pulls my hair and no temperature control change. I tried solia and not bad, but the plates are not as silky and smooth quite like the Sedu. I also tried cheaper mass market brands. Remington is not a bad brand at all (had pink plates)and is cheap, but the Sedu is the best, hands down...I will always own a Sedu.
Simply THE BEST!

I have tried many flat irons and this is THE BEST BY FAR!
By using the Sedu iron you save half of the time than using any other flat iron.
It heats very quick and leaves your hair smooth and shiny. I read many reviews before getting this Sedu iron and it definitely exceeded my expectations.

Just because it's a best seller doesn't mean it's the best. It dries my hair out bad!
Have to run it over the same spot a few times
It's ok, it gets the job done!
Not the best though

I ordered the Sedu 1 1/2" flat iron last month and it worked extremely well on my African American curly hair - you would have thought that I went to a salon to have it straightened. It did everything it was supposed to do in terms of heating up within seconds, sealing the hair cuticle thus allowing hair to look healthy and have sheen... but it completely stopped working in just 3 WEEKS!!! After about 2 weeks, I noticed that the indicator light switch between being steady and flickering during use, and the iron stopped heating consistently. At one point, I was able to actually touch the plates when the iron was set to 410 degrees!! In week 3, it stopped fully heating and would shut off on me during use.
I don't know if my particular iron was defective, but I am HIGHLY disappointed in the durability of this product. In addition, I didn't like the fact that you couldn't touch the outside of the iron during use because it was also very hot. I just received my exchanged product (Solia) and I like that you can grip the outside for control when curling since the outer shell is insulated. Save your time and money on the Sedu!!!
Beware of the Sedu's Durability

Beware! The Sedu breaks down easily. I have had my third one break down on me yesterday! Luckily, all three times it broke within the year warranty. But still, each time you break, you have to pay $10 for the cost of shipping and you have to pay to ship the iron back to them. So it does actually add up to the price of a new iron and can get expensive to replace. Folica was nice enough to credit me and allow me to purchase another iron. I just ordered the new sedu only because it was a 14 dollar difference. I hope that I have better luck with that one. If that one breaks, I am most definitely going to pay a little more and go for the GHD. Good thing for the two year warranty and having a sister who has an iron for back up.
Don't get me wrong, the Sedu is a wonderful flat iron while it last. But don't expect it to last long. The first iron had, it would show that it was hotand the green light would flicker, yet when i would touch it, it was cold. The second one was dead on arrival! And the third one has a dim green light and will not heat. I am surprised that others have not reviewed the same!
