Not for Natural African American Hair

This product is good if you have fine or curly hair, but if you have course african american hair that has not been relaxed, i wouldn't recommend it isn't so not worth the money. I recieved mine the other day and I was so excited. I washed my hair, blow dried it, and straightend it with a hot comb. Then it was test time. I flat ironed one side with the Sedu and the other with my old Conair irons. The side I did with Sedu did not look worth 125.00 even after going over it like 5 times. Then I asked for people's opinion on which side looked better and they said the side my Conair's straigtned looked better. I was so mad but that is okay because they are going back today. So if you are NOT African-American I would recommend these because they probably would work if I was white or another race. But if you are African american and you don't have relaxed hair, please don't waste your time. The Sedu's only go up to 410 degrees. My friend has flat irons called Alexis Pro that I cannot find anywhere that goes up to 425 degrees and those flat irons are a gift from God. So I would recommend any ceramic irons that go up to 425 or higher for black natural hair.

I originally bought one of these flatirons and wrote a negative review, at first I was not impressed and thought for the price I should have been. I now cannot live without this flatiron, I bought one for my sister and she broke it, folica made it so easy to return it, it is just taking typical time so I gave my sister mine to use and I miss it BAD. I have real curly hair with lots of kinky pieces, I usually use tons of Frizz Ease silicone product whether I wear it curly or straight, well, with this Sodu Flatiron, I use a spritz of Infusium 23 and that is it! No more product that makes your hair feel dirty! I LOVE this flatiron, and it truely works, at first I thought it was the same as my $20 job, but it is totally not. I can't even use that in an emergency anymore, it kills my hair, the Sedu smooths and makes my hair look and feel completely healthy, even in the rain!
Excellent.

This product is excellent. It heats up fast, is light weight, and straightens hair exceedingly well. Excellent product really.

I have tried numerous hair straighteners, but this straigtener is the only one to win the battle against the Florida humidity. My hair stays soft, shiny, straight and frizz free! I absolutely love this straightener!

i researched every high end hair straightener in the market for a while before i settled on the Sedu. i was really skeptical, but decided to try it out (esp with Folica's wonderful customer service and 30 day money back gaurnt) after my remington straightener fried my hair n left me with calouses. It is wonderful on all hair types (i tried it on all my roomates, from slightly curly to thick, ethinic unmanagable hair...and basically anyone else who i convinced to let me straighten their hair, they all were amazed at the results) but you have to be smart about what heat setting you use or it leaves your hair dry and damaged looking. I've had it for about a month and am pleasantly surprised at how nice it leaves my hair despite this horrible Houston weather. Heats up very quickly and gives amazing long lasting results even if your hair gets wet. Buy it, its better than the CHI (which i think is overrated).
Worth it!

The Sedu 1 1/2" was such a terrific investment. I was wondering how this expensive hair straightener would be any different from the $30 one I had from the local drugstore. One use of the Sedu showed me what I'd been missing. Now I have the sleekest, most polished hair around. I get at least one compliment per day. My hair looks so healthy. I hear you can straighten your hair upto twice a week. I try to do it only once a week, since I don't want to push my luck. My hair stays as straight as I need it to, even in humid weather. The Sedu was worth every penny! :) I'm a very happy customer!

The Sedu flat iron is great!! Thank you for putting it on the top of your list, which is where it belongs. It's very easy to use, heats up in seconds, and is far greater than any other flat iron I've tried. It was worth every cent and I recommend this iron to anyone who wants straight, smooth, silky hair. My hair is very thick with SOME wavy parts...it's a mess! But not anymore thanks to your great advertising and other reviews. Thanks again!

I have officially owned my straightener for about 3 weeks and I LOVE it. It was just the change I needed. Everyone has been complimenting my hair and how nice and smooth it looks. Having had course, curly hair all my life, it leaves me with little stying options. This is a great change and I can't express how wonderful it is to actually be able to run my fingers thru my hair. Very surreal! Not only is the product great but I am extremely impressed with Folica as well. I had my straightener in like 3 business days. I was expecting the standard 7-10. I will definitely continue to use this site as well as recommending both to others.

I have had unmanageable hair for years (mainly due to coloring and using the hair dryer). I NEVER thought I would be able to have straight and healthly looking hair until I purchased the Sedu ironic flat iron. I went from an 80's style hair do that I've had since I was in 8th grade, to an up to date modern diva!!! I get so many compliments now and I owe it all to my flat iron!!! Thank you for a great product!!!
I just don't get the hype!

I was not impressed with the Sedu at all -- didn't do any better job than my Conair, and in fact, maybe didn't do as good of a job since it was lacking the "grip" that my Conair has. Thankfully Folica.com is a standup company that allowed me to return this item without a big hassle. FYI, I ended up purchasing a Big CHI and LOVE it!

FINALLY, I FINALLY FOUND AN EASY WAY TO STRAIGHTENED MY HAIR. THIS IS THE BEST IRON I HAVE EVER BOUGHT. IT'S BETTER THAN BLOWDRYING, AND BETTER THAN GOING TO THE SALON EVERYWEEK. THIS IRON PAYS FOR ITSELF. I'D BUY IT ALL OVER AGAIN. SORRY I HAVE NO PICS BUT TRUST ME WHEN I SAY IT'S THE BEST IRON OUT THERE!
An excellent hair straightener!

The Sedu Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Straightener is a high-end hair straightener for a very reasonable price. It not only flattens your hair, but leaves it very shiny and healthy-looking. The width is perfect.

I love it. It leaves my hair shiny, airy and very soft. I have long hair, to the middle of my back. It takes half the amount of time to straighten it. I was using a 1 inch Platform flat iron and it was taking to long. I wish that Sedu made a 3 inch. It would make straightening my hair even faster. Buying was easy and trustworthy.

Depressing Christmas Present

I ordered the Sedu flat iron tourmaline for my 20 y/o daughter. I had it delivered to my office, gift wrapped it and put it under the Christmas tree - she was elated.
Went to use it before leaving for Christmas dinner and - what would you know! doesn't work. We tried another outlet - still no heat nor power. Turned out to be defective. My gosh for $125. I was upset. Folica did send another one once I returned this one. Works great!
However, poor quality inspection if it made it to us without working. They should check before shipping to customer. Free shipping ended up costing me to ship it back without reimbursement from Folica or Sedu ...
For customer service and care, I'm not too happy - although when I finally got through to someone - she was very kind. They did ship promptly.

The Sedu Tourmaline Iron is extremely gentle on hair and it also does a great job straightening. The results last awhile too, and my hair is extremely curly even a bit coarse. So I definitely think it's worth the price and would recommend the product to anyone., especially for anyone with damaged hair.

Customer Image 1:

I ordered the Sedu because everyone seemed to have a good experience with it. I have relaxed hair, so I was afraid it would damage it or dry it out. It actually made it shine from root to tip. I have the 1 inch, so it got even the roots and baby hair. I recommend this to anyone who straightens their hair. This is rated # 1 for a reason.

I just received this straightener and it is WONDERFUL. I've been using cheaper straighteners for a long time and this was by far worth the money. My hair actually looks silky and healthy after straightening instead of frizzy and dried out!
My only wish is that I had bought the 1" rather than the 1-1/2". It would have been a little easier for curling and flipping the ends out without kinking and I don't think it would have taken any longer.
