It works so good. I have naturally curly hair, the kind that frizzes when there is the least bit of moisture in the air. I used my sister's Chi and it worked o.k. it made my hair flat to my head making it look very unnatural. My Sedu makes my hair look full and gorgeous. Plus, I can straighten my hair on rainy days now. Before, as soon as I stepped outside it would frizz. I LOVE THIS STRAIGHTENER!!!!
Sedu worked 4 me.

I ordered my Sedu flat iron on a Sunday evening and it arrived the next Tuesday morning I was amazed because I live in Canada!!!!! I was amazed at how quickly this product arrived probably even before the charge showed-up on my visa account!!!
Anyways as far as how it works.... I have fine, very tightly curled Afro textured hair. Using 160 degree setting my hair got fairly straight with only one run through of the iron on 1 inch wide .25 inch thick sections. I'm sure that if I take my time, increase the heat to 180 ( I don't like to use to much heat)and actually blow dried my hair first it would get bone straight.
Anyways to anyone looking for a flat iron I definitely recommend this one it is 10 times better than my hot-tools heat-adustable gold plated hotcomb!!!

My hair is straight, soft, and oh-so-shiny. I only wish I had bought a quality flat iron sooner. I have no other experience with models in this price range, all of my other flat irons have been under $30, so I can't say that I exclusively recommend a Sedu, but I definitely recommend investing a little money into something that won't wreck your hair. I've suffered lots of breakage and split ends from the cheap models. . . Besides that, they break, and I've probably wasted at least $100 on straighteners that are now in the trash. My husband keeps telling me, "Buy it once, buy it right." For me at least, the Sedu is worth the money.
Sedu Ionic Ceramic Flat Iron

I had purchased another (recommended) ceramic flat iron for around $50 at my local beauty supply store and wasn't thrilled with it because it left my hair dry looking and appeared to be damaging it. My fiance actually researched the Sedu Ionic Flat Iron and purchased it for me since I was a little shy (cheap) about the price. Needless to say, I love this flat iron! It heats up quickly and holds its temperature, the swivel chord is wonderful, and my hair looks absolutely healthy and stays straightened throughout the day even in the Pacific NW weather. I also used my iron on my aunt's hair, which is thick and kinky, and it worked beautifully. She said that's how her hair looks when she chemically straightens it. I bought the 1" iron and have thinner shoulder length hair that has light to medium curl to it and I like to flip it up at times so this product works well. I think Sedu makes different irons depending on hair thickness and length? My aunt has thick longer (below shoulders) hair and it took about 20 minutes to work through her hair and only about 10 minutes for mine.
good choice

I've been doing some reasearch on what straightner is the best and I've finally found it. I have extremely damaged hair. I've colored and permed it...and well I think that its had it. I've tried the chi, but I didnt like that one all that much. Its not whateveryone made it out to be. But the Sedu does exactly what it says it does, and its wonderful. I actually referred a lot of people to it yesterday while I was working. Everyone was askin me what straightner I bought and they kept twlling me how wonderful my hair looked. It was soft, sliky, and frizz free.. I would recommend this product to anyone who has really bad, dry, frizzy hair...Its like magic...

After reading the mix of reviews, I hesitated buying Sedu. But, at its price point, it seemed more reasonable than some of the others. After using it several times, I am happy with the results. It gets hot fast which is ideal for a busy professional who is rushing out the door every morning. Its weight and maneuverability are perfect for an untrained user. The ceramic plates seem to be more gentle on my processed hair. Interestingly, my highlights shine when I'm finished with it. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase and I recommend Sedu.

I am African American with relaxed hair. I have tried Chi, Chi Turbo, Hot Tools, Wigo and True Ceramic Pro. SEDU is the best that I've used! I don't have to take it to the hottest setting and it straightens my hair beautifully. My daughter has coarser, relaxed hair and it's working for her too.
it really works

I was unsure whether to spend this much on an iron, because you can get them much cheaper in the drug stores. But my friend bought one of the $20 ones, and it does nothing. I decided rather than throwing away the first $20, I'd just go ahead and get this one. It was a good decision.
I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair. I used to when I was younger, but as it gets grayer (and now colored), the texture has corsened. This irons fixes that. I spend SO much less time trying to blow dry it, and I don't need to use product in my hair to get that shine. This also means that if I have to skip a day washing my hair, it doesn't feel gunky. I just whip out my iron, touch it up, and go.
This is by far the best money I've ever spent on a beauty product ever.

Just ordered my iron about 1 1/2 weeks ago. It took 6 days to receive it, I guess because I live in Florida. I love how light it is and is so easy to use. I haven't really experienced everything to do with it. But as far as the straightning part goes, its great. Havent lost a hair yet. Not like my other one. Would recommend this item to anyone.
Natural African-American Hair

have natural, African-American hair (shoulder length) and am somewhat disappointed by the Sedu flat iron. My hair was only somewhat straight and was frizzy by the next morning. The flat iron did replace the blow drying step, but then again, my hair would have been just as straight if not straighter if I had just used a blow dryer with a pick attachment. I still had to press my hair to get it as straight as I normally do. It might work if you have a loose curl pattern or relaxed hair, but if you have really coarse hair, you should probably try another flat iron.

I am a black woman with very coarse, thick hair. I have been wearing my hair "natural" without heat styling for several years. I tried the Sedu and I think it works pretty well, but I do use the highest setting (400 degrees F). My hair came out about as good as it does with a hot comb, but this was so much easier to use! It is lightweight and the swivel cord is an excellent feature. It does heat up quickly as advertised. The only problem I have with it is that some kind of heat protection guard should be added to the last 3 inches or so of the device because it gets so hot it is too hot to handle and grip while straightening. I would recommend using a thermal protector hair as well.

Hello out there, buy this product. I have curly medium length hair....haven't worn it straight in 20 years. With the use of new Neutrogena extra moisturizing products for hair coupled with the Sedu Ceramic Iron, I am in hair heaven. I look years younger and feel great. I started with an 1.5", which was a mistake and traded it in for a 1". It works like magic. Great product, worth the money, THANKS! Suzanne

I originally started out to buy a chi, but after reading the reviews decided to try this one instead. I have naturally curly, sometimes dry, flyaway hair. It is chemically treated, but in fairly good shape becaue I baby it....no hairdrying, and no harsh products with alcohol. My hairdresser straightened it for me (with a chi) at her shop a little over a week ago and it was beautiful. This Sedu made it look frizzy and broken. I thought maybe I had it oo hot or not hot enough, so I tried it with different settings and not once did it straighten it all the way. I received it a few days ago and will be trading it for either a Chi or a solia. It did fine on all of my daughters' hair which is thinner and straighter than mine. But if you have any chemical damage whatsoever, I think the infrared heat on the Chi or Solia is the way to go.

I have very thick, wavy, curly hair and this product straightened it right out. It heated up instantly and worked the first time I ran it through my hair. I don't know if it is any better than the Chi or other top quality straighteners because I never used them, but it worked really good. I would recommend it to anyone.

it is very light and compact and easy to handle but it didnt provide the silkiness i wanted. i have used a chi also and i would recommend getting the chi for anyone with very thick hair. for normal hair the sedu does a great job.in the beginning it took about the dame amount of time to straighten my hair but know that i have gotten the hand of it it has reduced my straightening time.
