This is a great tool for straightening even my extremely curly wavy hair. To save time , I just let it dry naturally after applying a leave in conditioner then go about whatever I have to do. Then I straighten it when I have a little time--even when watching tv with my kids..don't even have to use a mirror. With my busy life, I dont have much time to fuss. This is a time-saver because I can go with it for a few days before shampooing again since my hair is not greasy. I love it..well worth it.
folica exchanged after 3 uses trying same flat iron #2

After three uses the plug just fell out, I called folica and they were most helpful and sent a new one. My daughters have thick coarse curly hair and it takes a while to completely straighten but this iron does the trick. I like the on/off button and temperature control position easy to use. The plates are solid and not coated like the less expensive ones. (after wear the coated ones start to pull on the hair and cause damage) I would have rated higher if the cord incident did not happen. Folica backed their product (after the the return time)great customer service.
It Was Just "O.K."

I must admit, all of the wonderful comments written about this product on Folica persuaded me to make this $119 purchase and jump on the Sedu bandwagon. I gotta tell ya, the flat iron was not "all of that."
My hair is relaxed straight and I am currently 5-months post touch-up. I attempted to use the flat iron to staighten my newgrowth - didn't happen. The effect on the length of my relaxed hair left much to be desired as well.
I will say that the sections of hair that were
"straightened" stayed that way until the next washing.
All in all I say the Sedu Flat iron's performance was average and I could have done the same job on my hair with a $20 flat iron from Sally's.
I reconcille myself for this purchase by saying that the heat source is less damaging than a cheaper flat iron.
try it first!

I've had the sedu 1 inch iron for about 3 weeks now. I ordered it because it got such great reviews. my hair's very curly but it's large curls, not tight ones. I wear it very short, but I'm trying to grow it out now and I really wanted an iron for the growing period because it tends to get bushy and seems to grow all around my head instead of just downwards if you know what I mean. the sedu really helps to keep the bushiness out. BUT, my hair looks wavy after I use it, not completely straight, even though I use the 200 heat setting. this could be ebcause I'm not an expert at using it. the only other flat iron i've used before is the revlon that costs around 50 bucks. I don't notice a lot of difference but I don't wan't to ruin my hair in the long run by using a cheaper iron.
the sedu does make my hair much softer and silkier than it's ever been before. however, I have to use it every time I want to go out. the breeze tends to make it curl.
my advice: try the chi, the bion, the GHI, and other brands in the same price range as the sedu BEFORE deciding which one to buy. but, definitely, spend the extra cash to get one in the higher price range because the cheaper ones really are not ceramic plates. they only use ceramic heating technology and ceramic coating on metal plates. it's not the same thing.

Hello all;
I have been using conair flat iron that i got from target, it wasnt bad but i have really dry frizzy hair so it wasnt much effective on my hair, i wanted to buy a good flat iron so i searched the net reading reviews of different brands, i searched and searched and then finally decided to get sedu from folica.com, when i opened the product i was little shocked as it doesnt look as shiny and sparkly as it looks on the website, but if you scroll down to: "Easy access temperature control" picture it looks exactly like that material, so i got relieved that i didnt get any fake prodcut.
i have short hair and i have used it twice so far i am happy with the product. i havent used that many products so can't rate it but i would say i am satisfied especially the temperature control option is good. i hope my review helps you in making a decision. thank you.

I love the Sedu flat iron and can't live without it -- and even recommend it over the Global Beauty Chi flat iron. Here's to straight hair forever!

The Sedu flat iron gave my course hair great shine and softness, and it made the color appear richer. For exceptional shine, use the iron following a good shine enhancing styling cream or pomade.

I had started out several years ago with a Kenta and thought that was great. Then...I moved on to a Chi Turbo and thought that was great until...I took it with me on a biz trip and lost it...Somehow and somewhere b/w here and there. I loved the CHI. I was going to purchase another one but decided to read some reviews on Folica first. I became very interested in the Sedu. As soon as I tried it I loved it. It is small and very lightweight, also like the swivel cord. It straigtens my hair even better the CHI which I would have never thought was possigle. If I find teh CHI I will have two great irons but for now...my fav is the Sedu!!!
HOT! HOT! HOT!

This iron is HOT! Certainly without a doubt, a real time-saver. I realize it's pricy, but the time saved is well worth this investment. My hair has always been long, dry, naturally curly and a joy, until I hit 50! My Nailtec suggested the more professional look, so I had it streightened. Not only do I have that "Polished" and "Professional" look, but its so much easier to maintain than that "unruly" curl. I did the "Wash & GO" for years. But, as an alternative I do prefer streight, and this iron maintains my look in minimum time. I am very pleased with this iron. You will be too!

Excellent product, works the way the reviews said it would. I just wish I had known about this product before I wasted all that money on many other irons which were junk.

Works very well - only issue is that it doesn't have a stand. I rest it on a stone coster, but would prefer not to have to.

After using a few different flatirons over the past 2 years, I finally broke down and bought the Sedu. I really didn't want to spend as much as this flatiron costs, but after reading the great reviews, and needing one that didn't rip my coarse & curly hair to shreds, I relented. Well....happy is the day I decided to purchase this wonderful tool. It heats up extremely quickly, and although I still get some pulling, it's far smoother than the other flatirons I've used in the past. I'm also applying Biosilk Silk Therapy to my hair prior to flatironing. Thanks to both the flatiron and the Silk Therapy, the formerly very tough job of hair straightening is now far easier for me. My hair is shiny, & silky smooth. I also want to mention that ordering from Folica is a most wonderful experience. The flatiron took only two days to get to me. Thanks, Folica.

My stylist has begun using the flat iron to "curl" my hair and I purchased this iron to mimic her tecnique at home. The Sedu heats up fast and hot. I have relaxed hair and this iron does a nice job. Word of warning, if you want to use a flat iron for straightening only, the wider (1" and up) sizes are better. For "curling", the smaller widths are much easier to manuver. They're also good for those with shorter hair.

Just received my Sedu and I used it three or four times. I love it. I had a cheap Conair and it did not work well and did not keep my hair straight. Since I am currently living and working in Chennai, India, where there is lots of humidity, my hair is frizzy. The Sedu has made it straight. It is easy to use.

A wonderful iron!- I live in Atlanta GA,where it is very humid. This iron keeps my hair smooth and silky for at least 2 weeks. I have very long, thick, relaxed hair. I blow dry my hair first, using a serum. Then apply a universal styling creme before I use the flat iron.

I have been very pleased with the performance of this item. I have very thick curly hair and it works like a dream. I do have a 1/2" Chi flat iron that has worked well. However, after reading the reviews on the Chi 1", I was not convinced I should go in that direction. The Sedu has worked great and I have no complaints, thus far.
I have good hair!

This thing is A-MAY-ZING. I have wavy/curly hair that, here in the South, is more like frizzy/fuzzy most days. With the Sedu I can quickly go to stick-straight without pulling or frying my hair. The adjustable heat is great, the swivel cord never gets tangled, and it's plenty long enough to use in any room without knocking things over trying to get close enough to the outlet. The plates are uber-smooth, and never feel like they're pulling or grabbing at my hair.
My favorite thing to do is let my hair dry naturally, then flatiron the top layers and the front. All the hair you can see is smooth and frizz-free, and the curly hair underneath gives me great volume.
I don't know how I ever lived without this thing. Don't hesitate -- buy! Folica shipping and customer service are fantastic. Go for it!
A great alternative to the CHI

I decided to buy the Sedu after my second CHI quit working. The Sedu works just as well, and it's lighter and glides through my hair easier. So if you're trying to decide between this and a CHI, go with the Sedu, CHI is a piece of crap.
