One of the BEST!!! (African American Hair)

I purchased my SEDU Iron about a month ago and it is purrrfect!!! I am of African American decent and those who are also can relate to what I am saying. I washed my hair during the time I needed a relaxer to give it the ULTIMATE test. Needless to say, it came out great with a few setbacks. I did not use any product on my hair prior to flatironing and I have blonde highlights. Some of my highlighted hair popped off but that is only due to my own fault. Other than that, this flat iron if one of the BEST! I recommend it to any and everyone. I am using it now still and I haven't relaxed my hair since I bought it. It straightens just that well. A few pointers, you do not need to put it higher than 180. Actually, 160 does just fine. And it does all the things it says as far as curls, flips, and whatnot. BUY, BUY, BUY!!!
The Best!

I cannot say how pleased I am with this flat iron! I have had cheaper brand ones in the past and they have damaged my hair with each use. When using this one, my hair started out damaged after having a perm and color treatment done; and it actually improved the look of my hair and made my hair feel healthy again! I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a straightener!!
Love my Sedu!!

I bought this flat iron a month ago and i just love it! It heats up really quick and straightens really well! Leaves my hair shiny and not dry looking.. I used to have the Hai Stik and I definitely recommend the Sedu over Hai.
Great product! Don't waste your money on the cheapy flat irons because it'll just damage your hair and it won't look as nice. =)

This is one of the best flat irons I have ever used. It heats up quickly and has consistent heating. I would definitely recommend this flat iron.

Bought 2 for my daughters for Christmas and they are extremely happy with them - they said it was one of the best gifts I ever bought them! Highly recommend for any teenager/adult! A friend of theirs who got a CHI hair straigtener for $185 said the SEDU is way better and wished they had gotten the SEDU instead!
Hai vs Sedu for African-American Hair

I have been searching for the Holy Grail of flat irons for close to 2 years now. I have African-American hair with a relaxer (I have fine hair)...and I have to say that the Sedu Flat Iron (1 inch) is probably the best I have come across. I have used the Hai...I loved it until I dropped it and it broke in half. However the difference between the Hai and the Sedu is:
1) The Hai straightened my hair, but it tends to leave a bit more moisture in my hair.
2) The Sedu straightened my hair to salon perfection. It is silkier, straighter and moves with ease.
3)The Hai is a bit heavier than the Sedu.
4) I was able to curl and flip my hair easier with the Sedu.
5) At times the Hai would catch my hair in the corners of the flat iron plates...the Sedu is super smooth...the plates are balanced perfectly and does not catch the hair at all.
6) Overall, the Sedu has come out the winner. I have not ventured into the extremely expensive live of flat irons...and since it is a hobby of mine..I probably at some point will start purchasing the higher ends, just to see how they perform.
7) Lastly, I'm in human resources as a profession, and I must say that Folica.com's customer service is outstanding. They have a state of the art tracking system for your purchase, and the representatives are extremely helpful and honest in helping you pick the right product for your needs!

This is my first "expensive" flat iron and it is fantastic! I never owned a Chi, but I have used them and this flat iron is just as good, if not better. I looked at the reviews of both and I read the Chi doesn't last very long, so for the money, I decided to purchase this one. No regrets!!

I wished I had paid more attention to the watts on this curling iron. Does not get as hot as I need to get to flat iron the weaved hair I wear. For my natural fine hair this tool is excellent. I am an African American with fine, thinning hair. The only portion of my hair I have out is in the front. Unfortuately, for the price I paid I am rather disappointed. I still need to purchase something for the rest of my hair.
If my hair ever grows back and I no longer need a weave, this will definately be an outstanding tool for me.
Excellent product FAST heat-up

I bought your SEDU Tourmaline 1" flat iorn for my daughter as a Christmas Gift. It arrived on time. When she opened it Christmas Eve she was very suprized and couldn't wait to use it.
Early Christmas Day I got a phone call from her. She was amazed at how fast it warmed up and how smooth it made her hair. She tossed her other iron in the trash. She is VERY happy with her gift.
Great Straightener!

I purchased this item for my daughter who has very thick curly hair past her shoulders. The product works great. Her hair comes out very straight and looks shiny. Her does does not look straight and poofy, it looks nice and flat, like her hair is naturally straight. It lasts for days with light touch ups in the morning. Just be very careful, because the iron does get very hot when you have it on the higher temperatures. All in all a great product; especially for people who have the hard to manage curly hair and are looking for the straight look. It glides easily throught the hair. So far so good, she only got it in December. We have tried other straighteners, but they haven't gotten her hair as straight and flat.
Fabulous product!

I bought the Sedu Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron after quite a bit of research and could not be happier! My hairdresser suggested the Chi, said it was great, but my reseach pulled up too many unsatisfied customers for me to feel comfortable spending that much. Since I have very thick wavy hair and a brand new haircut (inverted bob) a flat iron was a necessity. My order from Folica was processed and shipped very quickly and I received my Sedu in time to take with me during the holidays. With every other flat iron I've ever owned my hair would always go back to being "big"...not with the Sedu! It heats very quickly, I have to use it very little to straighten and it even gets out weird little flips and waves. I love it. Definitely worth every penny.
the best one yet!!

I was a little reluctant to spend this much $$ for a flat iron (but why not? if you buy 3 cheap ones it's the same thing!) it does a great job, the smoothest action i've experienced. i only wish it had an automatic turn off feature. by accident, i left it on overnight, but it apparently didn't mind! i rate this product EXCELLENT!

Great item, but a week after I recieved it for some reason could not get to turn on, in any outlet in my house I messed with it for a while and then finnaly.. Weird, but anyways I like it much better than the Chi, it works great I have just a wave in my hair towards the bottom and it does the trick. everyone commenst about my hair all the time now.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Disappointed...

It did not straighten my hair at all, my $40 dollar flat iron worked better. It claimed that it did a great job for thick wavy hair, I never once experienced this. I even turned it to its highest setting, and still nothing. I returned it after 2 weeks of trying different methods (i.e., sectioning off the hair, using straightening balms, shampooed clean hair vs. next day hair). The only thing I can say in its favor is that is does not pull the hair compared to other straighteners.

I bought this for my daughter, as her beautician recommended it as a great product. It really is one too. My daughter has very curly hair, and it makes it poker straight, and it stays like that till she washes it, and that itself is quite a feat with all the humidity we have down here in Florida. It is very easy on your hair also, hers stays nice and soft. Also, the service was wonderful. Even though it was Christmas time, I received it very promptly. I would recommend the product and company, both highly.

Hey, I just got this thing today, from folica.com. I have awfully frizzy, wavy, stupid cowlicky hair. It wants to be straight, but no matter what, I can't get it straight. Until now. Wow, what a product. I have never used a hair straigtener before but this was suggested by one of my best friends, a hair stylist from San Francisco. What a difference. And my hair isn't even washed fresh... it was just dry and I couldn't wait to use the Sedu so I just ran it through my hair as it was. It worked perfectly. I don't have any pictures right now but I will post before and after in another review coming this week. But seriously, this thing is amazing. I had it set at the 230 setting because my hair is fine (and relatively short, only goes down to my eyebrows basically). But what a difference. No joke. Worth every penny and then some. I was skeptic, as most people are, but I'll never go another day (or every other day) without using this. What a confidence builder.
Thanks, Sedu.
Better than the chi by far....

I had the Chi for a year and then it just stopped working one day. The sedu works much quicker and makes my hair alot smoother and my hair is course and curly. A must if you have thick hair!!!
Better than Solia

I originally ordered the Solia but returned it after I suspected there was a short in the electrical cord. I decided to suck it up and pay the additional money for the Sedu and what a difference!
*First of all, it grabs and holds onto your hair so much better.
*It heated faster.
*It curled and flipped my hair so much better.
*And it straightened my hair after only one time through vs. a couple of times through with the Solia.
Spend the extra money and get the Sedu!
Sedu works great!

My daughter and I are both enjoying the Sedu flat iron. We have tried many others and they have not worked nearly as well. My daughter has incredibly curly hair and this iron makes it perfectly straight. I would highly reccommend it!
