Fantastic Flat Iron

I read a lot of these reviews before I decided to buy the Sedu, and was interested to see if straightening with the Sedu would really hold up to humidity and moisture in the air. And I am very happy to say that it really does! My hair didn't get frizzy and wavy when it was humid (after using the Sedu) the way it usually did with other flat irons. I got the 1" model, but I can still straighten my hair faster than with my older flat iron. I strongly recommend the Sedu to anyone who has difficult to straighten hair and to anyone who has to deal with humid weather.
FANTASTIC!!

I bought this last year, and have been meaning to write ever since. I rarely used flat irons, because I only tried the cheaper versions. They didn't seem to work and took forever. I have very thick, wavy, frizzy hair and read all the reviews and decided to try the 1" Sedu. It's wonderful! doesn't take long (my hair is fairly short) and makes my hair softer, and lasts for a couple days. Thanks so much for a great product.

I am a black woman from the Caribbean with natural, mixed, very curly, below the shoulder length-hair and have never put any chemicals in my hair at all. It took me many years and finally months before I decided to get a straightener because I am very skeptical about damaging my hair.
After months of pondering and reading reviews on folica.com, I bought the 1 inch Sedu after consulting with my hair stylist. I was going to buy the Maxi-Glide and decided against it because of the negative comments.
I was so excited to see the Sedu arrive within days of ordering it online and seeing how small it is. It heat up in seconds and while it took me sometime to get through my hair because I wasn't familiar with straightening it, it did the job. I was able to get very close to my scalp and face to get my curly grains and I didn't get burnt. Which I was the most afraid of. Now I just need to learn how to style it and use hair spray to keep it in hot humid Louisiana.
I definetly recommend it for black women with natural hair who're looking for a good iron or never used one before. I think it is worth the cost when you figure in salon visits a year.

I compared the Solia, and Chi to the Sedu (tried all 3). The regular Chi fried my blonde color treated hair totally (non-temperature adjusted). I was so upset that I had to go and get it cut after only 2 weeks after my last cut! So the comparison was between the Sedu and the Solia. The Solia has the option of having a lower heat setting, and seeing as how I fried my hair with the Chi, this appealed to me. However, below 250F didn't do a thing anyway, so it was not an issue. So I tested the Sedu and Solia at the same heat setting. The Sedu won my purchase.
At the same heat setting, the Sedu straightened my hair better. The Solia produced better results when I turned the heat up, but what good was that? It is worse for your hair! The Sedu grabbed the hair better and made it straighter as you were working with it.
I have to say, I am wasn't an advocate of buying the Sedu at first. I heard Folica.com owns the company that makes Sedu, and I thought maybe they were just promoting themselves. Well, whether they are or not, it doesn't really matter becuase it is a great product nonetheless!
Overall quality, the Sedu beat the Solia in my opinion. The construction feels "better made" in your hand.
I'll check in and let you all know how I'm doing with the Sedu in a few more months. That will be the sure test!
PS: I got compliments today when I used the Sedu.

I am definitely not one who likes to take alot of time with my hair so this is perfect for me. I have medium length hair and it takes me between 10 and 15 minutes to do my whole head. I just love this flat iron. I would strongly recommend this to everyone.

I have very curly hair and was told that the only thing worth buying was a Chi. But, I meet one person that told me about the Sedu and how well it works. She was right. I love it. Easy to use and works well.

Buy GHD

I bought the Sedu after giving up my GHD flat iron that I bought in London before GHD started making irons that can be used in the United States. The British version didn't work well enough with the adaptor so I decided to try the SEDU. It was cheaper and does not work NEARLY as well. Spend the money and just buy the GHD. I returned my SEDU and did ust that. It does not smooth the hair nearly as well as the GHD and I ended up looking like I had split ends, when my hair is not damaged at all. The Sedu frizzed my hair where the GHD leaves it smooth and shiny. Spend the extra money and spare the headache.

The Sedu straightener works great. My hair also feels so smooth and silky when I am finished. I had the Babyliss which did not do as good a job. I bought this for myself after having purchased it for my daughter who has extremely curly hair. Her hair comes out perfectly straight and lasts for days. Be careful because it does get extremely hot. It is definitely worth the price. I have only had mine maybe a month, but my daughter has had hers for almost a year and hasn't had any problems with it. Delivery was also quick.

I would put what I thought of this product into one word and that's dissappointing! After reading all of the great reviews on this product I thought wow this one is really good, but after taking it home and using it I realized it is a crappy straightener and any other product that you could get a target or walmart would work prolly better if not the same. I would not recommend it at all unless you have money to waste on something that doesn't offer very much satisfaction!
Easy Canadian Shipping

I ordered this item on a Tuesday from Canada, and it was here Thursday, so I am really satisfied with Folica.com's customer service for Canadians. It's very light compared to my old ceramic iron (a Babyliss one) and at first seemed way too small to do the job. I've always bought the 2" irons before thinking bigger was better, but this one works on my hair just fine. I have hair that is about 14" in length (past my shoulders, not past my bustline) and it is neither straight nor curly, just obnoxiously wavy. This iron works really well for its size and I really like the versatility - I can straighten the kinks I always get near my bangs and closer to my roots. I use flatirons every day (but only wash/dry my hair every other day) so I am interested to see how durable this iron will be. Its light/compact size will be great for travelling, even if it does not hold up to everyday use, I would highly reccommend it for travel because of the size/weight. The 1.5" version is probably only necessary if you have really curly or thick hair, anything else I would just save yourself the extra cost and get this iron as it is much more maneuverable.

I used to use a cheap 3/4" flat iron. I've only had this 1" Sedu for about a week. So far it works great. The tempurature is much hotter and my hair gets done much faster. I would recommend it. :o)
Sedu Best One For Me

I was given the Sedu Flat Iron as a Christmas present. I have very fine hair and this is the only flat iron that was listed for my type of hair. I have enjoyed it and I don't have the hair breakage that I had with other flat irons.
The only problem that I had was it stopped working in April 06. I contacted Folica customer service and spoke to Amy. Amy told me how to ship and what Folica would do about the flat iron. Within 1 week I received a new flat iron. There was no problem in returning the product.
I would purchase again from Folica because of the customer service and quality of products I have received.

I had the sedu flat iron for 6 months before it started having electrical problems. When it worked it worked great. It got extreamly hot and straighted my hair very quickley. Then it started turning off while i was using it. Something went wrong with the internal wiring. My fiance use to be an electrican and said it would be more work to take it a part to try to fix it then replace it. My next flat iron is going to be a solia.

I purchased this flat iron, because I did not realize the benefits of using a flat iron. The salon I went to, uses a CHI (with wonderful results). So I purchased a Hot tools flat iron (trying to save money).I found myself going over the sections of hair several times a day. I later learned these evidently do not get hot enough. It is all about the temperature and the plates that are used. This then, made me investigate other flat irons like the CHI. However, when I started researching the "CHI" too many complaints about it burning out, doesn't turn on anymore, bad quality product, scared me. If I am going to spend more than a $100 bucks, I want a purchase that will last me more than a year. I picked the SEDU only because the ratings were better than the CHI and I can not afford a GHD (however I would like to try it). I have only heard of good things from the GHD. Is the SEDU better than the CHI? Well both are about the same price, the SEDU is not perfect according to other reviews but will hold up a lot better compared to the CHI. (My opinions are based off of other customers). It does the job and does it right. Smooth, shining, and straight. I do not show signs of my hair burining or breaking. Also, I take care of my hair, using hot oil treatments every so often and a silcon based conditioner that is awesome (Silicon Mix). So, I have excellent results with this iron and my hair looks very healthy. Basically any hot iron that you are going to use, make sure you take care of your hair. You do not want to overdue it. Then when I am done using the flat iron I reinforce my hair with a silicon based oil, so it doesn't look dry, remains shiny and moves like normal hair. Nobody can even tell theres even oil is in your hair.
On the negative:
Yes, I agree with other users. The exterior gets extremly hot. The area that gets hot is behind the heads of the metal plates. I, on the other hand have no need of using my fingers to press down on the head of the flat iron. I simply just hold it where you are supposed to hold it and still remain with great results. If you are one who insists on holding the flat iron with your finger tips. "DO NOT BUY IT". Otherwise, if you will hold it normally (like recommended) it will not even bother you.
Good luck with your purchase of a flat iron and please do the research.
It's really good!

Best Straight Iron So Far

Just received my straightening iron a week ago. So far this is the best one I've had so far. I've been using straightening irons for about 8 years now. I had one of the old Chi Irons first. It lasted forever and was just worn out. I couldn't adjust the temp on it, but it was great. Then I just purchased a new Chi Iron last year with temp control and within a year it just quit heating up. They said they would replace it if it was a year old, but it was a year and 1 month old so...too bad! I decided to get the Sedu based on the reviews and it is really an improvement from the Chi. It doesn't pull your hair or burn it which I've found with the Chi. The Chi would snap your hair just by getting it caught in the iron. The Sedu just glides through and makes my hair so shiny, soft and natural looking! Would recommend it to anyone!!! Worth every penny so far!! LOVE IT!

The sedu hair straightener is a dream come true! My hair isn't frizzy any more and it makes my hair look healthy and shiny! It heats up in a few minutes and you only have to go over your hair once to get the results you want. I would recommend this to anymore! :)
