I NEVER used to believe in products that are marketed on the net anywhere. I am NOT an online shopper. However, while researching ceramic straighteners, I came upon SEDU CERAMIC 1-1/2 INCH STRAIGHTENER....and almost instantly, when I saw the pictures of the women with curly, frizzy or wavy hair come out with salon, pin-straight hair, I WAS IMMEDIATELY BOUGHT.
But before I rave about SEDU, I would like to tell you about my hair : I am Asian, but for SOME REASON, my hair has come out very thick, coarse and very wavy to curly. IN fact, I do get a lot of compliments on my hair curly, but it's time for a change. I have always wanted Jennifer-Aniston pin straight hair....but never managed to get it at home. I have spent YEARS of purchasing expensive straightening lotions, tonics and potions from Trade Secret etc....I have spent many years in trying to straighten my hair with high-powered blow dryers....but something was ALWAYS MISSING. There was always some stubborn wave, stray hairs here and there that JUST DROVE ME CRAZY! :)
TODAY, I got my SEDU IN THE MAIL. Around 2 hrs ago, I was still a skeptic. I scoffed and said, " Hmm...I bet you I will return this and get my money back guarantee. " MY GOD, WAS I EVER WRONG! SEDU IS.....ABSOLUTELY DIVINE!
- In a matter of SECONDS, the SEDU heated up.
- I started off with the MIDDLE HEAT setting just to see and it straightened the section AT ONCE. INSTANTLY.
- I then moved onto the HIGHEST SETTING to test it, and IT STRAIGHTENED IT INSTANTLY AS WELL. But I find that I don't even need to go to the highest setting ( and believe me, I have VERY VERY THICK, COARSE HAIR. Each strand of my hair is very thick and wiry ).
- In 20 mins, my WHOLE hair was DONE! ( and I wasn't even sweating - unlike blow drying it straight where you sweat like a pig ).

I got my sedu hair straightener for christmas this last past year and I love it so much. I think it is probably the best thing that my mom has ever bought me. It doesn't leave my hair growse feeling and dry. It makes my hair feel smooth and has so much shine. I have tried so many hair straighteners, like the cheap ones and some of them didn't work at all and than some would work and than I would walk outside and my hair wouldn't be straight anymore. But all I have to say that it is the best straightener and it is worth the money to spend.

Ok everyone, I have to admit I was VERY skeptical when I purchased this iron, even after reading the reviews. I am a black woman with texturized hair (neither completely straight or completely natural) and I've tried other flat irons that have not gotten my hair as straight or sleek as my hairdresser. Well, a picture says a thousand words! This is the best flat iron I have ever used and my hair feels soft, smooth and is very shiny. For you black women who think that this won't straighten your hair, take it from me...this iron works! Just try it. Thank you Sedu!

This is my first flat iron purchase and I have to say it rocks!
It heats up really fast and very easy to use and handle. The weight of it holds easily in your hands and you can do the entire head in a few minutes. The smaller model is great for making waves that last and are smooth.
Some reviews have said that they have had some bad experiences or it was not as expected. I figured out that if its not working as well as you hoped it would...you probably didnt turn the temperature high enough.
My purchase came with a free gift that was the traveling case which is a Must!
It protects the surface of your bathroom countertop and is perfect for traveling.
Even if you dont get it as the free gift, it is definitely worth the $20 they charge for it.

I had been using a Ceramic flat iron by Hot Tools that was okay, but the difference in using the Sedu is amazing, my hair actually feels healthier using this iron! I wouldn't use any other iron now!

I researched and looked at reviews, whatever I could get my hands on. The Solia and the Chi were ones I really focussed on and the Sedu. I have naturally curly hair. My daughter has straight hair with a little wave here or there. My step-daughter has wavy hair. I cannot keep them away from my Sedu. Yea we like it that much. And it makes my hair feel sooooo soft. When my step-daughter used it the first time, she came looking for me and said what is this and where did you get it? Some of my daughters friends have the chi. (Guess it is a popular name.) They don't seem last too long. Like I said, I have now owned mine for one year. The others just don't last, they pull or break your hair, or they dry your hair out really bad.

The Sedu Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Straightener is a fantastic product - however, if you're one of those customers who is reading these reviews to see if the Sedu really is superior to the CHI, I have to say no. I originally had the HAI, which worked well until one of the plates fell off. Granted, I had the HAI for about a year or two, and I'm sure I've dropped it numerous times, but nonetheless it did break. All of my roommates own the CHI, and since my straightener had broken, I used theirs when I wanted to straighten my hair. It works really well - glides through your hair, makes it straight, is really easy to use if you need to straighten bangs (I have side-bangs so I do) or put in soft curls - and it leaves your hair really soft and frizz-free (something which the HAI wasn't as good at). But, after reading the reviews for the CHI vs. the Sedu I thought to myself, well if the CHI is amazing but it has a worse rating than the Sedu, imagine who great the Sedu should be! The truth is, they're fairly similar. I just finished straightening my hair and it looks wonderful - it's soft, shiny, and this too was easy to use to make soft curls (I don't particularly like my hair pin-straight). Maybe the Sedu lasts longer - I hope so - but only time will tell.
Oh - my hair is fairly long, curly, colored, and fairly resilient since it's been able to stay pretty healthy through all my hair coloring/straightening. And I don't even make an effort to blow-dry my hair straight with a round brush - it's a waste of time and doesn't accomplish much. But with this straightener, it takes about 30 minutes and I really do have professional-looking hair. It's a really great purchase if you have the opportunity to splurge.
Folica is also a really great service to order through - their customer service/shipping is fast and reliable.

OMG! My hair is thick, frizzy and curly. But for my birthday I got Sedu and have the most beauliful hair EVER!! I just recieved my Sedu and i decided that it was about time I wore my hair straight! All i can say is that this flat Iron is AMAZING. It DOES NOT pull or snag your hair AT ALL. The plates are extremely smooth. I'm in love. This is the best flat iron ever. It blows the T3 wet-to-dry straight out of the water. I love it!

I am a fashion stylist so I know whtzz best for hair.. and this is like THE best hair straightner ever.. I first bought a Hot tools I thought it was good and it suckzz it's not durable.. this is durable and three silkier ans smoother. I feel the diff. in me and just feel so beautiful. It heats up soo fast and easy to use!! Many heat settings. Just the perfect one any person is looking for!

I used to say I hate my hair. Does that sound familiar? I was embarrased to go out in public (especially on humid days). Now, I love my hair!
I have very coarse, thick, wavy to cury hair, so when I decided to grow my hair out, I did not know how I would be able to stand it. I now feel like I can without having to wearing a wig in the process!!!!!

This is the best straightener ever! I highly recommend it. I did a lot of reviewing before I purchased any iron, I was going to purchase a CHI but after reading all of the negative comments about the quality of the CHI, I decided on this iron...it works great! My hair is always difficult to straighten because it is so curly and I've used those cheap Conair straighteners and they just fried my hair...my hair has never looked healthier! The pictures below are from the same day, they were taken just a few hours apart.

I must admit, it's one of the Best things i've ever got as a gift :)... u can do "Soft Curls" Or "Flip In" Or "Flat Straight" at the end of the hair with sedu. The only reason i didn't give it 5 stars b/c it gets really hot.

I have only used this iron once and I am already in love. I came over to the Sedu from a CHI. I thought the CHI was absolutely fabulous until I found this dream. This made my hair so beautiful and silky. I can't wait to use it again. My hair truly looks "salon quality" now. Thank you, Sedu!

I was sort of skeptical buying this iron, because there were not too many reviews from African-American or Mixed women. However, I am so happy that I bought it. I use a relaxer on my hair, although I am due for another one in about a week. This iron keeps your hair so straight and smooth. If you have an iron that gets your hair straight already, you would much rather have this one because it toally changes the texture of your hair! I love it! I usually use it at 180 temp setting, and let me tell you it does the trick. I went working out at the gym, and my hair was still straight and smooth after I was done. I thought I would have to rewash and do everything again, but those days are OVER because of this iron. For those of you who are not women of color, if it makes MY hair super straight, just imagine what it would do to yours! :) I would get it very soon, because they are increasing the price because it is such a popular item. I bought my iron Feb. 17 and payed $98.00 for it. Get yours soon before it gets to be too expensive. It is an amazing iron and well worth the money. I am so happy with my purchase. I wish I could show you more pictures, but they do not allow personal contact iformation :(.

I have VERY curly hair and never thought anything could straighten it. Well, the Sedu does and it works great. My hair is silky sofy and straight... no frizz. It doesn't pull out my hair and is very quick to use. I give it 2 thumbs up!

My husband bought me this flat iron and I absolutely love it...when it is new. I have been through two of these flat irons in a year and a half (the first one was covered under the then one-year warranty...I am giving up getting another replacement). While I love the performance of it when it is working, I am going to another brand. It did work nicely, make my hair soft and got sufficiently hot. It would be perfect if it lasted more than 9 or 10 months (I used it once a day 5 days a week).
