I am on my second Sedu flat iron. The first one started acting up about 9 months after I had it. There was a short in the cord where it met the iron. I returned it to Folica and they replaced it since it was within the 1 year warranty. I have had this on since April and it sparked and burned my daughters fingers and again it is not working because of a faulty cord. I'll try to return it again, but I won't get another Sedu. I loved how it worked, especially having a temperature control, but I won't take the chance of it setting my house on fire or burning anyone again. I think I'll go back to a CHI.
Over 4 years old and is still like brand new!

I purchased this product from Folica over 4 years ago, and it still works as if I had just brought it home from the store. I have coarse or kinky, thick long hair and it straightens with out snagging or breaking the hair. It leaves my hair shiny, frizz free, flowing and straight. Great investment!

I was honestly amazed after the 1st use of the Sedu Iron!!! I was amazed at the change in the change in the feel and texture of my hair. It became instantly soft and straight. I did order this flat iron with the Biosilk therapy which you put on your hair prior to straightening it. So, it may have had something to do with the combination. I heard a lot of good feedback about this combination and coarse african-american hair. I just HAD to write this review immediately, I was sooooooo impressed! Now, I know what everybody else was talking about!!!!!!! Don't listen to those negative reviews, BUY THIS FLAT IRON!!!!!

My roommate called my new iron "a baby"...because it's small and light. AND FAST. I straightened her hair with better results than the Chi. I've always been a diehard fan of the Chi, but this iron is my favorite. It's really lightweight and leaves my hair shiny and smooth all day long. I've owned a hai, chi, corioliss, and the sedu is the best. It gets hot fast, and I can't wait to try it on my friend's afro! hehe..If you're looking to get this..Please do. I have long hair..but it's fine type..so I enjoy using the 1", but if yours is different, I'd suggest the 1.5".......okay, if all else, Please consider this as your #1 pick. You'll love it, too.

I've had mine for about a year now and I LOVE it! All my friends are jelous and sometimes try to bribe me into letting them borrow it. It makes my hair really straight and EXTREMELY shiney! This iron is actually HEATHY for your hair, and I've never seen it so shiney before in my life! I honestly LOVE this straightener, however, the one my hairdressers use (CHI brand)has about the same effect, but lasts for days, even after going to bed, its perfect in the morning. Only, this straightener costs almost double and apperantly damage your hair by the intense heat.
This is the best deal out there!!!!

This iron makes your hair so straight and soft, the best iron I have ever owned. It also straigtens my daughters very thick unpermed hair and it comes out long and straight on the highest setting. Great buy and investment.

I think that the sedu is so overated. I like how it glides through the hair with out pulling it but it did nothing for my kinky curly african american/ puerto rican hair. I'm sending it back and getting a CHI!

The SEDU is the best....
Not only does it straighten my hair in 10 minutes, it is the only straightner that keeps my hair frizz free and pin straight even after a night of dancing in a club....
everyone should get this straightner =)

I just bought this flat iron and I love how soft it makes my hair, as well as, how straight my hair is after using it. I love the results! Would highly recommend this to anyone with frizzy thick hair.

i have very frizy wavy hair. and this flat iron works reallyy good! i used to use the conair flat irons and they made my hair look very unhealthy and it wasnt bouncy or free at all.
i was going to purchase the chi flat iron but then i read all the negative reviews about it and i decided to buy this one! i highly recomend buying this flat iron! it works reallyyyyyyy good!!!

After reading the reviews and looking at all of the before and afters I had a good feeling that this flat iron would actually work well HOWEVER because I have unprocessed (ie not straightened) african american hair which for me does not straighten well at all...even with chemicals.
It just so happens that this flat iron works....it works so well that after using it it looked BETTER than it does when I do chemically relax it.
THESE RESULTS ARE UNHEARD OF.
My sister was in the process to removing braid extensions and as anyone who has had that done knows combing that out can be a painful experience. She was using a hot comb (murder on your hair) and it was smoking and burning her hair and I suggested that she use my flat iron instead.
Lo and behold it heated up in record time (unlike a hot comb which takes a good 10 minutes to get hot enough) and it GLIDED through her kinks and curls LIKE BUTTER.
She went over sections she had already done with the hot comb and the results were remarkable.
Had she stuck to the hot comb it would have taken her well over an hour to finish....with the sedu it took just about 30-40 mins (!!)
I cannot begin to tell you all that this is *the* best flat iron full stop. With it's heat settings it will work on everyone and ever type of hair.

I previously had a Chi flat iron which I thought was just okay. I actually had not even used it alal that much when it went out. I did some researching and decided on the Sedu -- I absolutely love it. The delivery service was excellent -- I had it within two days of ordering.
I would definitely order from Folica again!

I previously owned two Chi straighteners. The first one lasted 3.5 years and the second one 1.5 years - both failed due to problems with the cord which I understand now is a common problem for quite a few straighteners - especially a Chi. I would have never probably looked at another product as the Chi gets REALLY hot and was a good straightener but too expensive to have to replace this often. I also looked at an FHI and an HA and decided on Sedu based on extensive reading of reviews and technical specs (Sedu specs shows that high end hot temp as higher than all others).
Although the Sedu straightener is supposed to get hotter than the Chi, it doesn't. In fact it doesn't feel like it gets AS hot. I thought about returning it but the fact is that it straightens my hair just as good as the Chi, is less expensive, is smaller in overall size (even though the heating panel size is the same (1") and VERY lightweight. Much easier to handle than the Chi. I also liked the pouch that Folica offered. I would definitely recommend purchasing via Folica. I had a great experience and is much less expensive than buying at a store. I would recommend the Sedu over a Chi just based on overall experience (it doesn't appear from most reviews I've read that the Sedu has the same problems with the cord/not getting hot due to a disconnect/short or something). I guess I will find out as time goes on using my Sedu if that problem occurs with it as well.
If you want SUPER STRAIGHT HAIR the Sedu is a must have!

I got this a couple days ago and it works great! It used to take me an hour at the least, now it takes 45 minutes max. Not only does it make your hair straigter than any other straightener, it also makes it so soft and absolutley NO FRIZZ! If you know how to protect your hair from heat damage, then you rhair comes out feeling healthier than it was before. Spend a little extra money. and you will get the best straigtener ever!

I had the chi for over a year and was satisfied. But it then started to give me way too many split ends and it made my hair brittle. Then after a year the lights began to flicker and it didn't work properly. So I got the Sedu and must say that it's really good. Straightens well and makes my hair smooth and shiny. It also doesn't take as long to straighten like the chi did. VERY SATISFIED!

I have had short hair for years and it was always poker straight. I recently decided to let it grow out and when it did, it grew out kinda wavy and a little unruly. I was looking at flat irons and bought a Remmington at Wal-Mart. It was okay but my hair frizzed really bad and it pulled my hair out. I got my Sedu yesterday and had to get it out and try it. It was amazing. My hair is soooo smooth and soft. It didn't pull my hair out at all and it smoothed out all the frizzy nubs from where my old flat iron pulled and broke my hair before. I will always have a Sedu.

My hair dresser reccomended this flat iron after another client of hers started using it. The other client has very corse hair and my hair dresser could never get it silky smooth & staright. The other girl bought the Sedu and she loves it. Not only did it give her the results she had dreamed of but it is light weight and didn't pull on her hair or damage the ends.
My hair is very wavy underneath and dry from the other flat irons. I use the nanoworks conditioner and oil on the ends for moisture and I still had fried ends and thick hair. So I used the Sedu and could not believe the results. 15 min. instead of 30 to straighten it. No more brittle fried ends or thick poofy hair. Smooth, straight and healthy silky hair and I LOVE it. Everyone I know asks me what I am using because they love how my hair looks. I had a hot tools and the plates started flaking then I got a Weigo and it pulled so much hair out. My hand would cramp up and get stiff because they were so hard to squeeze. The Sedu is light and does not hurt my hand at all! My hair dresser bought one and uses it on everyone. I highly reccomend it to everyone, you'll be happy!

The following was my first review, when I first received my Sedu Iron, on November 8th, 2004. Three years later and my Sedu is still going strong!!! I have dropped it on a few occasions, without any consequences. I had shoulder length when I started using my Sedu, but now have short hair and it also works wonders on the shortest of hair!!! Still amazing after all these years!!

I ordered Sedu two days ago and received it this morning. I immediately tried it. We had an extremely humid day today. Guess what? I love it. It straightens the hair immediately (I have extremely curly and thick hair) and yes the results are long lasting. The plates are extremely smooth, unlike Wigo, Babyliss and Ceramix (Yes, I tried them all). Leaves the hair salon smooth. The best by far !!!

I purchased a Sedu 1" flat iron on 9-28-07 and it is wonderful! The only thing that wasn't as described was the amount of time it takes to heat up. I would give it a minute to heat all the way up. I have semi-thick course hair and it has lots of flyaways; when I use the sedu it makes it smooth, sleek, flat, and my hair feels so much lighter and thinner! It is like when you leave the beauty shop right after a cut and style! Except you get the style every day! I also used it to curl my daughter's hair, it was amazing. She has very thick straight hair and it made some very curly curls in just about 10-15 minutes! I have previously used flat irons from wally world and all they do is pull your hair, burn your hair, fry your hair, and the coating flakes off. With the Sedu there is none of that! Wonderful product, cannot say enough about it!
