This is the best flat iron i have ever used, so worth the money, you will not regret this purchase. Folica is a great company and I really appreciate the great price they give us on this item.

I am pleased with my Sedu...it is definitely better than all the other irons I've used over the years which I mostly bought from stores such as Sally Beauty and Walmart that ranged from $15 to $30. I was nervous spending over a hundred dollars for a flatiron, but it was worth it just for the amount of time I save straightening my hair. It probably took about 30-45 minutes before, and now takes about 15-20 minutes. I only have to run the iron through one time slowly, or two times at a regular speed because this iron is alot hotter than the drugstore models.

First, I have to start by saying that I loved my Chi and never, ever expected to like anything more. The first time I ever used a Chi, I was amazed that my hair could look that good. I wasn't looking for a new straightener; however, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence and after reading about the Sedu, I decided to trade in my Chi for a Sedu....AND I AM SO GLAD I DID!!!!
I got the Sedu around Christmas time and immediately started using it. My first week back to work, I got asked 5-6 times if I got a new haircut. I had to say, "No, but I did get a new straightener." Inevitably everyone responded with,"Oh did you get a Chi." Nope. Had one but upgraded. My hair must look pretty good though, because one of my co-workers followed suit and bought a Sedu as well.
Here's what I think the Sedu has over the Chi:
1. Your hair does not get stuck in the Sedu and pulled like it sometimes does with a Chi.
2. The Sedu gets your hair as straight or straighter than the Chi but leaves it with some body and movement. This is unlike the Chi-which leaves your hair flat and stick straight without any body or movement.
3. (This is my fave) Sedu makes your hair shine and smooths any flyaways or split ends you have. With a Chi, you can see every split end.
4. The Sedu does not feel like it damages your hair. With my Chi, I could always hear my hair sizzle, but with the Sedu I feel like my hair is being treated more delicately.
The Sedu wins the matchup in every way. I do feel I have to point out one thing-a lot of the other reviewers mention that the Sedu cuts your straightening time in half vs. other straighteners. Don't expect this if you already use a nice straightener (like a Chi), because you already have that benefit. Sedu takes an equal time as a Chi to straighten hair-no fuss here, I think they are both fast but I just wanted to clarify!
If you are thinking about buying this product, do not delay! It will be one of your best decisions, believe me!

I was suprised when my daughter asked for this for Christmas. She just moved to a new area for a teaching position and her new stylist used this and recommended it for her(when it's humid her hair normally doubles in size!) I was a bit skeptical but I ordered it anyway.
She was absolutely thrilled with it --- she loves the way her hair looks and she can style it in just a matter of minutes. And no more wild hair on rainy days!

I bought the sedu for my daughter who has really course and curly hair. We had a CHI straightener, that had to be replaced before the 1st year was up. The second overheated, and melted the plastic around the plates, causing the plates to fall out. This all happened while she was using it, not as if it was left on or anything by mistake. She really loves the SEDU, and has shortened the length of time it takes to straighten her hair. Her hair is very shiny and soft looking too. JUST LOVE IT!!!!

I had previously been using a Chi iron and the Sedu is vastly superior. It leaves my hair silky straight and it works super fast. I have very curly hair that usually takes an hour and a half to straighten with a blow dryer, the Sedu does the job in 20 minutes. The first time my husband was startled by the change. My husband, who never notices anything, stared at me and said "wasn't your hair different just a minute ago." That's how I felt also, because it works so fast.

I also have the 1-1/2 inch Sedu Tourmaline flat iron when I had longer hair. The smaller plates of the 1 inch are great for shorter hair. The Sedu heats quickly and most days it usually only takes one pass per section to straighten my course curly hair, unlike other models I've used that take several passes. Past models I've used have created more damage to the hair because of the excessive time spent between the heated plates, to get the look I want. Thank you Sedu!

My daughter loves this product, but our first Sedu was sent back one time and then broke. It lasted 1 year. I would think a straightener would last longer than a blow dryer or a curling iron.

I have been using my cheap Remington Wet/Dry for years and was o.k. with the results. But was very frustrated when I left the house and entered the humid hawaiian weather, that my hair would frizz up again. I have very, thick wavy, full hair. I ordered my Sedu last Friday night after alot of deliberation and received it on Wednesday. I immediately washed my hair and the only thing I put in my hair after was some P/M, Super Skinny Serum because I wanted to see just how well this iron worked on my hair. I blow dried it and low and behold, this flat iron is AMAZING!!! I AM TRULY A BELIEVER!!! My hair is so smooth and silky. It took me about 45 minutes where as it would take me 2 hours with my Wet/Dry. I used it on Wed. and I have not washed my hair yet, but even after sleeping on it and twisting it up with hair clips, it has still not lost its straightness, not even a dent. I haven't had to touch it up once. I'd encourage everyone who's tired of dealing with cheap substitutes to try this flat iron. You'll fall in love with the results just like I did. I'm recommending it to all my friends and they can tell the difference as well. No more spending $300 at the salon for chemical straightening. I GOT MY NEW BEST FRIEND! MUCH MAHALO SEDU!

This iron is perfect for you if you also like to scrunch your hair sometimes. I don't have hard to straighten hair, but after using the cheap straighteners my hair was breaking and so dry that it wouldn't scrunch into a curl anymore. I have had my sedu 2 months now and my hair is so much smoother and moisturized that if i decide to wear it curly in between straightening it, it looks great!

I bought this around Christmas (for $75) and love it. I previously had a Wigo flat iron and it has so much build up that I couldn't get off and just wouldn't work. I love this Sedu flat iron. I have hair just below my shoulders which is relatively thick...BUT each strand is quite fine. It saves me soo much time in the mornings! I recommend!

I was formerly a Chi owner, but decided to try this model based on specs and other consumer reviews. All true! Leaves my moderately wavy/frizzy hair very smooth. People are surprised to learn that I have naturally wavy hair,lol. Easy to use, plates are the perfect size and heats up in literally seconds.

I bought this product after doing ALOT of consumer research about high end hair styling products. This by far has given me the best results I've ever had with a flat iron. And that's saying alot, because I have tightly curled ("kinky") African American hair. I read some of the reviews before purchasing the Sedu and I thought there is no way that all of these are legitimate. Someone must be working for Folica or Sedu and lying about the product online to get people to buy it. But honestly it is the single best flat iron I've ever had in my life, and it really does help to make your hair smoother and healthier. As with any product though you should be using high quality hair products for your hair type to get the best results. Don't expect to use 2 dollar shampoo and conditioner and get the best results ever. I spend a bit more $ (Nexxus, Biosilk), and get salon quality results on my own with more expensive hair products.
If you are African American, the product definitely helps straighten your roots between touch ups on your Texturizer or Perm.
