Okay, so I'm 16 and mixed with black and white. I usually get my hair pressed at a salon every 2 weeks. So my hair totalled up to 90 dollars a month. yeah...plus my parents were paying for it, god forbid I got in trouble and they threatened to not pay for my hair that month. I would have to walk around looking like all crazyheaded. Okay so I finally got a sedu, not only is it worth every penny, it bascially cheaper then going to salon. I would pay perhaps 150 dollars including products once versus 90 dollars every month.
I washed my hair using the pantene hair care line for relaxed and natural hair. Then I would put some heat protectant and super skinny relaxing balm from paul mitchell and blow dry it using a dryer with a comb attachment from Gold N Hot. After that I would put some biosilk, IC hairpolishing heatprotecter straightening serum from sally's plus some oil sheen. and then i flatiron it on maximum heat. Mind you, i use alot of products becuase my hair needs it and doesn't look good without it. Everyone
s hair is different and you may need to expirament until your hair looks as good as it can be. Some people barely use any products and not as much heat. it all depends on your hair.
However, this flat iron is perfect! If it works on my biracial hair, and on african american hair. IT WILL WORK FOR YOU, but remember product also make a huge difference.

I got this to replace my MaxiGlide that quit working. This iron straightens very nicely, and heats up quickly. I was used to the straightening pins on the old one, so I had to get used to brushing through each section before straightening to get it looking its best. Sometimes I even use the brush that came with it and brush down while following with the straightener, works very well once you get the hang of it. It took me a while to get the curls and flips down, but I can make it look the way I want to now. It takes longer since it's smaller, you have to work with smaller sections of hair. But I do love it and never leave home without using it first!

I just got my flat iron yesterday, and I was very excited to use it. I decided to purchase the Sedu over the CHI and Paul Mitchell after reading the customer reviews. I must say, at first I was a bit disappointed, but once my hair got adjusted to the new iron I was amazed. It literally looks like I went to the salon. After using the Sedu the first time, my hair was so sleek and shiny. My old flat iron used to make my hair very fluffy, but the Sedu gives you a very smooth look. It's so easy to curl your hair, and the curls last and are so pretty. I always thought what's the point of buying an expesnive flat iron when my $15 Wal-Mart flat iron works just as good. But after using the Sedu, I realized that it's definitely worth the money. I would definitely recommend this flat iron to any and every one!

Ok, this is my first flat iron to own, i bought it last week, so i can not compare it to anything, BUT...it is just amazing. The hair feels really healthy and bouncy after using it. It doesn't pull hair, slides easily, light weighted and comfortable to use.
See pictures - before and after, plus i used it to curl my friend's hair (after watching all the videos on youtube ;)) - and i never used a flat iron before! This is how easy it makes to style the hair!!! And, if you want the curls, buy 1 inch iron - this is how i decided. First, i wanted 1.5 inch one for fast straightening, but trust me - 1 inch straightens the hair just fine and i do not think that extra half an inch will make a difference. It will make harder to get those curls though.
Absolutely in love with this flat iron, also easy to carry in a heat-proof pouch. Now i want to purchase Sedu blow-drier as well as i am very impressed with the quality!!

Well, I did a lot of research before I bought this because I brought straighteners that just didn't do it for me. I must say I was HIGHLY impressed with this thing. You do need to be careful (it gets hot), and still take your time. (Don't be scared, it does cut your time in half) It works great, and now everyone is asking where I got my hair done. I just keep saying how I bought this straightener!!! I get compliments all the time. Those women of color who are worried, don't be...this works!!
FYI-You do need to use a gloss, oil sheen, hair serum, etc. I use John Frieda's hair serum. (the thermal protectant)/and/or oil sheen.

I have tried about five different straighteners over the years that have all been dissatisfying one of which was a Helen of Troy, and another was a ceramic. Since none of these worked on my thick, Italian, curly, frizzy, often uncontrollable hair, I sometimes resorted to using the regular iron.
With this new Sedu straightener, my hair is straighter than i have ever seen it before! i have had my hair straightened by a CHI before too, and that didnt work half as well as the Sedu. The Sedu also cut my straightening time down from about 3 hours to only 1 hour and 45 minutes. The size of the plates is also perfect for reaching very close to the roots, and works well for flipping the ends under for a different look.
The only thing i would advise is to not straighten your hair every day. I have only been straightening my hair once about every 2 to 3 weeks. This way, your hair can maintain its health without facing severe damage from heat. My hair is always very shiny, frizz free, and healthy looking when i use my Sedu. It was definitely worth the price!

I had previously owned a chi for 2 years- was awesome. . .I left it when I was out of town and had to get a new one. My mom got me the 2" Chi, and for some reason it never got as hot as my old one. It sucked! So I was in desperate need of something that worked. I finally decided on the Sedu and I love it! It takes maybe 5 minutes to do my hair. Heats up in 20-30 seconds- highly recommend it! I just hope it last for a while. But Folica says w/ this product, you get a 2 yr. warranty, so that's good. . .and shipping was fairly quick as well!
Sedu is a must!!

For the past 5 or 6 years I used the cheap Revlon irons I use to get at walmart. I was tired of the hair pulling and my hair looking burned and dried out. It was awful, so I finally decided to check out some good irons. I looked at folica.com and saw the sedu and all it's wonderful reviews, I decided to buy one!
I have wavy/curly hair , it usually takes me about an hour-hour in a half to do my hair, with the Sedu it only took me less than 30min!!My hair looks healthy and shiny! I am totally in love with it and would recommend it to anyone!! My bestfriend and mom wants one too lol!
This is definitely a MUST HAVE!!!

I just get my Sedu today (so excited~~)and the result is amazing~~~I want to thank you all of the users from the folica who introduce this wonderful product.I strongly recommend this product. Note: Before I use the Sedu, I apply the "CHI silk influsion" to my hair, the result comes very well. My hair is much softer and shiny~~the Sedu is worth for every cent~~

I did a lot of research before I decided to chose the Sedu. I've had a Chi in the past, and like most of the reviews I read it died out on me in less than a year of use. I was ready to buy another one because I loved how it worked on my hair, but after reading about the Sedu I decided to give it a go. I love the iron. I used some leftover of my Chi Silk Infusion as a protectant as some others have and it worked wonders. It cut time in half by a long run! Now I am not saying I was done in 15 minutes, no that's not the fact. I am mixed black and white, and no matter how good a flat iron is, it's going to take time to do my hair. However, an hour and fifteen minutes is a lot better than three and a half hours! My hair is silky and smooth and my husband can't keep his fingers out it! Yes the Chi is a wonderful product, however the Sedu beats it by a longshot! I will never, ever buy a Chi again after using this iron. And take it from someone who has that coarse, thick, NAPPY hair!!

I got my iron last week and its great! I am african american with relaxed hair.I relent my hair after every wash because it ends up being this big thick poofball. Anyway I used my new Sedu , with a little bit of chi silk infusion (as a heat protectant) and it came out very silky and soft.I had to turn up the temp a bit, to get it straight like I wanted, but that was ok. I have a old vidal sassoon flat iron that works well too, but the Sedu is better at protecting the hair from heat damage. It is also very lightweight and thats a plus as well.
*remember to always use a heat protectant whenever flat ironing or curling your hair*
*the first picture was before and the second is after using the sedu with a little chi silk infusion .

Up until now, I had always used a round brush and a blow dryer to straighten my hair... works beautifully, but takes FOREVER and is a pain in the hands. I decided to go on the hunt for a straightening iron in the hopes that one could at least give me as good of results without hurting my hands or being so time consuming..
I started out ordering the Solia because, honestly, it was cheaper. It also had great reviews. Unfortunately, this was NOT the iron for me. I have very long, very fine curly hair, and the plates did not meet correctly on my Solia. It didn't close strongly enough to hold my baby fine hair, which would just slip out. Needless to say, this just did not work for me at all.. whether it was a single defect of that particular iron or not, I cannot say, though I have seen others complain about the plates not meeting right.
So I decided to give in and exchange the Solia for the 1'' Sedu. I didn't have very high hopes, as I had such a bad experience with the Solia. I am MORE than pleasantly surprised!! The after pic you see here was taken the day I got my iron and tried it for the first time. It held my hair beautifully, glided through so smoothly, and left my hair silky, soft, shiny, and straight. I also experimented with doing little flips and curls, and this iron also does those very well with a little practice. I couldn't be happier with this iron thus far, and am grateful to folica for all of the great reviews which pointed me in it's direction... fantastic iron.. I hope I continue to love it as much as I do right now!

mmkay so I couldn't find my camera when my hair was wavy/curly so I can't really show you how my hair looks before but it is definetly not straight, it has many layers cause I was dumb and got it cut weird. I used to use the herstyler until it damaged my hair A LOT. So I decided to try out this straightener. The first time I tried it no lie, I didn't really like it. Until the second time, OH MY people noticed that my hair looked a lot better :) the only problem I have is that I had to press the reset button but other than that I loveee it :)) I made waves in my hair which you can see in the pictures. BTW: my camera has 1.3 megapixels (which means its crappy) and my hair looks much better than that! I'll probably post another review with actual before and afters & a video of how to make waves <3

I have had a cheap conair for about a year and it just sucked, burnt my hair and took way to long. I wanted to get a new flat iron but the only thing I was caring about was the health of my hair, I have natural curly, wavy, medium length, and ALOT of hair. If I go curly I need to be ontop of putting product in my hair if not I am frizzy no matter what the weather. SO I was AFRAID to spend the money for a sedu but let me tell you, I did and damn it works so good. You control the temp and b4 it took about 1 hour to blow dry and flat iron my hair, now, it takes about 20 minutes to blow dry and flat iron, if I air dry then flat iron it takes about 10 minutes, I have three kids so I do not have time to do mommy's hair, I love this iron and will not change to a differ one. I have had it for about a month now and I am still amazed every time. I use a little bit of biosilk on my damp hair then again right b4 flat ironing, u do not need alot. I seriously love doing my hair now and that is what is the best part, if u feel good u look good !

I'm writing this review for my Friend MaryAnn. I bought it myself to use and I absolutely Love it. But she has very long hair, and I have been using my Sedu on her hair, which always turns out beautifully, without lots of effort. I just wanted to share some before and after shots, so you can see the drastic change, and this is before she added any styling products, she can't wait to get one of her own. Thanks for the great product, I will continue to tell all of my friends about it and tell them where they can get one of their own.

i had the CHI straightener for about 3 years, and I thought it was the best out there, and it used to take me 45 minutes to straighten my whole head. then i just recently bought the Sedu and im in shock! it now takes me 20-25 minutes to straighten my whole head, and i have very curly, thick hair. it also leaves my hair VERY smooth and shiny as well. i think it really is the best flat iron out there, its amazing i love it.

I must say I purchased the Sedu because of all the great reviews. I was expecting a miracle to be performed on my hair. My hair isn't bad, just kinky when I wash it. It is in it's natural state as most black americans know, you have to work with it. Anyway, after receiving my Sedu in just two days I was excited to put it to work. I was disappointed because I didn't get instant results. My hair would frizz after going outside in the humid or not so humid weather. It didn't straighten as well as my Maxi-glide and Le Angelique flat irons, but I kept trying the Sedu to acheive the results I wanted. The purpose in buying the Sedu is to prevent damaging my hair any farther than what was done by using the other irons. I wanted an iron I could use everyday with no damaging affects. This is day number 20 and I finally got what I was expecting to acheived. My stylist would straighten and flip my hair and it would last up to 5 days even after I pull it back in a ponytail and sleep on it, I could shake my hair out back into the same style. I would have as much body as the day she flipped it. I got that today with the Sedu after trying again and again. The Sedu maynot yet give me the long-lasting straight look I wanted, but it looks shiny, healthy and has the body I want when I flip it. I was ready to pack it up and mail it back. My hair had to get use to the heat and feel of the Sedu and then it responded to a new styling iron. I would tell everyone don't be in a hurry to send your iron back because you are afraid you will run out of time to get a refund, give your hair time to adjust to something different. I have to admit I no longer doubt and my hair is loving the care it gets from a not so harsh iron. Don't give up. Change your shampoo and conditioner, serum or whatever you need to do to get the results before you return it. If it doesn't work then, your hair may respond to a different iron. I hope this review helped someone. Sorry only one picture, I didn't expect to post today. Maybe next time I'll have before and after pics.

I have had my Sedu for over 3 years now and it is still going strong!! I love it, my hair is 3b/c natural and highly textured. I don't need to go to a salon to get salon-swingin hair. I have tried various other irons and none compare, if my house was on fire, I'd grab my dog and then my Sedu!! This thing is wonderful...BUY IT!!!

im hispanic,and have baby doll,sherly temple curls.[i have tricky hair]i read all the reviews and wanted to get this, i have a chi,conair infiniti,bedhead tigi light me up straightner,i've also tried the corioliss and this one is by far the most reliable straightner.there's a bigggg difference between how it leaves your hair. btw,the 1 inch is sooo light on your hands and is so much easier to smooth your hair out with!!! GET IT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!<3<3<3<3

i just go my SEDU straightener 3 days ago and i just love it! it only takes me half the time to straighten my hair(30min), its amazing! i have tried my other hair straighteners, but this one is the best!
