i heard it can be used on damp hair AND wet hair but it seriously sews up ur hair if u use it while ur hais wet =] hope i helped x0x | Sedu better than Tru Ceramic Pro?
I currently straighten my hair with the Tru Ceramic Pro, an iron that I saw on a tv infomercial. Both irons are basically they same price and I am happy with the results I get now. However, I worry that I am damaging my hair, after all the Tru Ceramic Pro heats up to 400 degrees! And to straighten my hair I usually use about 370. I was wondering if anyone has used both flat irons and finds that the Sedu is better for their hair and gives good results. Also, how hot does the Sedu get? It appears in the picture to only go up to 200. Question posted by Trying to choose Wed Aug 03 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Jessica Killian

Of course! True Ceramic Pro is a consumer brand while Sedu is a professional line. Sedu also has Tourmaline technology: more ion and smoother.
I tried both (plus maxiglide), trust me. Infomercial products suck. | | Reply by Hayley

The only way to permenantly straighten your hair would be to use chemicals. You could get it relaxed, or you could get something done like the Japanese Straighening process. Any flat iron you use is only going to straighen your hair temporarily. As soon as it gets wet it'll revert back to its natural state. | | Reply by mamady

No, you can only PERMANENTLY straigten your hair with chemicals. . | | Reply by Allison

The Japanese Straightnening process works VERY well, but does not permanently keep it straight. I got mine done in Thailand while I was visiting some relatives and they did an AWESOME job!!! It only cost about $50 too (versus the $300-$800 price in the U.S.). The downside was that it took a good 7 hours to get it perfect, but it lasted a good 6-7 months. So if you're thinking about getting it done here in the U.S., I'm not positively sure you will get the same results as I did since the style is quite popular down around that area and they are probably more experienced. I'm going back this winter and I know I'm DEFINITELY getting it done again :) | FLat Iron

ok well i had a chi also for three years, and i loved it.mysister recently bought the solia. i did not like it as much as my chi. then again everyones hair is different because it works good formy sister. i am stuck between buying the chi 2" and the sedu. i am nervous to pay so much money for something i am not sure will positively work for my hair. in my opinion i would buy the sedu,or another chi, if you liked it. hope this helped you. | to sedu or not to sedu?

hey, if you arent going to straighten your hair every day its fine! the sedu works really well and it doesnt fry your hair like the cheap ones. trust me it works so you should try it. and another thing, if your parents arent willing to pay the whole 150 dollars or however much it costs then save up and split the deal. and dont worry, after you get this thing, you wont regret it cuz yourll end up straightening your hair as often as you can. | I have african american kinky hair does sedu work for that
I have african american kinky hair. Does the flatiron brand Sedu work or is there other brands? Question posted by Perry Sun Jul 24 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Racquel

Yeah I'm thinking of getting one for my hair, but I know for sure it works because my friend has one and she let me borrow it and that's how I found out about it. Except she paid about 200 for hers so take the deal while it's here. I promise you won't regreat it.I looked so good, and I"m just dieing to get mine. = When you get it though use it with a gel straigtener so it will feel extra soft and silky and depending on the one you get, it will also protect your hair from some damage. | | Reply by Niki

It works for me. I have 3b, 3c hair. I blow dry my hair first but it works. Also try biosilk on it before flat ironing. | rounded edges
i have been reading reviews for the sedu from other websites and some people have said that the sedu leaves a ridge in your hair because the plates are completely flat and not rounded like the solia, which helps to curl, flip, hair. Is this true? are the plates flat with no rounded edges? Does the sedu only straighten and not capable of curling? please help anyone because this answer will help me decide between the solia and the sedu. ( i like a little curl in my hair to make it look natural) Question posted by mya Sat Jul 23 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Hayley

Hi, I was worried about this same thing (the flat plates/ridges). What I've found is that you'll only get a ridge in your hair if you 'pause' while you're running the iron down your hair. If you straighten in one fluid/continuos motion, you won't have that problem. :) The plates are flat but the mouth of the iron (where the plates are) have rounded edges and they get a bit warm, so it's easy to get a nice curl/flip with a twist of the wrist. | Can i use it everyday?
I really want to use it everyday, and i thought that if you bought a heat-protecting spray before straightening your hair it would be ok. I dont want to TOTALLY burn it to a crisp. What should i do? I dont think i want to buy a straightener like this, where its so effective, yet EXPENSIVE and only be able to use it only once a week.-Thanks <3 Question posted by Emily Thu Jul 21 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Lindsay

I have been using my Sedu everyday since I purchased last January. I use a heat protective product (Redken Satin Wear), and have not seen any drying or "frying" of my hair. I try, about every two weeks, to use a deep conditioner (nothing fancy--just the small packs you can purchase at Wal-Mart), and that really yields off any potential damage. I have been extremely happy with my Sedu purchase, and I'm sure you will be too! | | Reply by Andrea

You CAN flat iron everyday, even though it is not the best idea. If indeed you choose to flat iron everyday make sure you use heat protection for your hair, also wash your hair every other day so that you do not totally flat iron over all your hair everyday. I sleep with my hair down and then in the morning I go over my hair a little bit with the flat iron, but I do not flat iron it as much as I would if I just washed and blow dryed to make it super flat. This will help you a lot because your hair will stay pretty flat over night and it won't be as strenous on your hair to try to make it flat from scrath every single day! :-) | | Reply by Jamie

It's all in the temperature you use. I would start low and experiment until youi find the lowest temperature that works for you. If your hair smells burnt, the temp is probably too high. I have chemically relaxed and highlighted hair (and it was fine to begin with) and have had no problem with damage. I use it every day, although mostly just for touch ups because I wash my hair once a week. I use a heat protectant spray and also biosilk which is expensive, but worth it. I was worried about the same thing before I got it, and it was totally worth it! Good Luck. |
