Stay Straight? NEED TO KNOW ASAP!
Okay well I have read the reviews on several websites about 3 main straighteners (Sedu, Solia, and Chi) and I think I am going to get the Sedu but there is one thing I need to know before I buy (and please only people who have used the Sedu respond). Well I have sort of curly hair and right now I am using a Revlon gold plate straightener. It used to work pretty well but after almost 2 years it is starting to give up on my hair unless I spend an unreasonably long time on it. My question is though, I live in Memphis and it gets pretty humid here, well after you straighten your hair with Sedu does it stay straight?? Because I straighten my hair now and like 2 hours later it is not that straight anymore! So I REALLY need to know before I make this purchase especially because of the money. So does this straightener keep your hair straight ALL DAY LONG?

i live in a very humid climate also and yes, the sedu keeps my hair straight and poof-free. :) if it's an extremely humid day you might need the help of a humidity resistant product (try makeupalley.com if you're searching for a good one). the only problem i have are the cowlicks near my forehead .. if i'm sweating or if it's more than 85% humidity they still curl up, no matter what iron i use (and i've tried all 3 that you mentioned).

several questions
I have several questions, if you can answer ANY (1, some or all) it would be greatly appreciated.1) is it hard to get straight right by the scalp/roots... does it burn your head? or how far away from your scalp do you have to start?2) my hair tends to be real flat when straight...like almost static cling stuck to my head. im thinking it may be too much product, but if i use less product it gets frizzy, any suggestions?3) those with spiral curls, when you straighten your hair, how long does it last? can you put it up in a shower cap and take a shower without it 'freaking out'?4) do you brush your hair before straightening or do you just let the iron get all the spiral kinks as they are?

I get as close as possible to my roots then as I pull my hair through I give a slight twist and that helps my hair from looking so flat. Also, when I blow my hair dry first then use the flat iron I find that my hair has a lot more body. I use very little product because a little goes a long way. (in the palm of your hand about the size of a penny) When I put the product in my hair, I rub my hands together then I start at the Bottom of my hair and work up. I never put the product on or close to my scalp!! I hope this helps you.

try putting product only through the lengths of your hair concentrating on the ends, if you put it near your roots it will make your hair flat and greasy. i have really frizzy spiral curls but if i put product on when it is wet, blow dry it,clip it up, then leave it for a while before i straighten i get a better result. i clip my hair into sections, and straighten about 2 inches away from the scalp using a brush as i go. which gives my hair lots of body. - hope this helps

I have spiral curls and the longest I've gone between washings is 12 days...but I'm a dirty kid. I just wrap it up and take a shower and then touch it up a little. I blow out my hair first using protective product (pink lotion), Laminates Drops, and Paul Mitchell Straight Works, then I iron my hair with the Matrix Iron spray and it looks like my hair is naturally straight...which it isn't. The whole process takes me about 70 minutes, but it's worth it!

No, I've had the sedu for more than a month, and I've been using it about every other day, and I don't see any visible split ends at all. My hair used to be SO damaged, to the point that I can pull on the end of one strand, and it will break off from the rest of the strand! Also, the ends always looked very brown (I have black hair) because it was so fried by my old iron. That's when I knew I needed to change to a better iron. And ta-da, the Sedu helped that problem. It's been a month, and my hair feels and looks as if I've just had a trim a week ago! Now, I'm not afraid to grow out my hair long and still look healthy anymore. Hope this helped answer your question.

difference
what makes this straightener BETTER than lets say the Solia or the CHI for example. The plates are the same and they both go up to the same heat, so whats the difference?

Sedu's plate contains tourmaline, which is supposed to be protect your hair, while CHI is a regular ceramic iron. Another difference is that Sedu has ultrasmooth plate, it run thru your hair without pulling.

I was also debating between Sedu, Solia and Chi until I read this article. If Sedu is good enough for Jennifer Aniston' hair, it must be good for me. No regret here.

I've been using a CHI for about 3 months and using it about 3 times a week. At first it was really good. It got my hair straight and shiny. Recently I've started noticing that the ends of my hair get extremely dry from using the CHI and I have tons of broken hairs. I can actually hear the hairs snapping sometimes. The CHI get the job done, but the Sedu is easier to get through your hair without causing breakage. =)

Will it damage my hair?
I just bought my Sedu lest week and Iam very happy with the results, my hair looks wonderful I have used 3 times, but may only concern is that why would like to know if this flat iron is going to damage my hair. I have been using on the lowest setting the first time I used on 120, but the second 140 and I notice that my hair was even more straight. This is what I do before using the flat iron I wash my hair and then use the conditioner, towel dry and put a lot of frizz remedy on it, but I notice that this makes my hair oily, but Iam doing this because Iam afraid to burn my hair if I don't, and I don't like to have the ends of my hair looking crisp and burned since all the others flat irons that I had damaged my hair really bad that I had to cut to get rid of some of the damaged. So I wonder if a thermol spray would really help against damage. I also would like to know if after a while my flat iron still is going to work as good as it is right now. I read a rewiew that after I while it does not work so well. So if anybody have been using this flat iron for a long period I would like to know if you could answer my questions. The most important I really would like to know if caused damage to your hair and if look burned after a while???Thank you!!

Well the higher you put it on, the straighter it will get because theres more heat. and your hair might be oily because theres a possibility you are putting too much remedy on your hair, which does cause the hair to get very oily. so just try to put a little less. also make sure your hair is completely dry when using this iron or else it can damage your hair, and the straightener. And i would consider trying the thermol spray, because you never know what it can do until you try it. like any other straightener out there, your hair will damage and look burned. thats why they have these oils so you can control that. so just try different kinds and see which one will work best ...but remember to not but too much. hope i helped !

Just wondering if the 1-1/2" model can curl. Also, can it reach the roots of your hair?

I'm afraid I don't have an answer to your question. I'd just like to know if you bought the product and liked it. I too have super thick, coarse, color-treated and curly hair and it drives me crazy.(it's half african america, half asian hair). I have no idea how to use an iron, but I'm thinking of getting this one. It's awfully expensive, but if Allure magazine says it's good, I'll try it. Any tips on whether I should straighten dry or wet? Also, which styling product do you use when you straighten it? If you email me, please identify your message by calling it Sedu or something I would recognize. Thanks.
