i would like to know if the 1.5 inch is good at making soft curls, or is the 1 inch better? (also, if anyone tried the sedu revolution nano, how is it? and how is it good for making waves?) Question posted by anonymous Sun Mar 11 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by linda

The sedu 1" is good for making curls, however the 1.5 is better for waves | Hair cut
I will be getting my hair cut today, and I know I will be needing a straightener. My hair right now is to the middle of my back and has a year old perm in it. So it is still kinda of curly. I am not sure how short I will be getting it cut or what it will look like. (I'm just asking my stylist what she thinks would look good on me) Should i wait to see how my hair cut is to determine if I should get the 1" or 1 1/2"? I was just about to order the 1 1/2" when I realized this. Thanks everyone! Question posted by Rachael Fri Sep 15 2006 Submit your answer | Reply by missmex

I think maybe the 1 inch is better because you can get closer to the roots, make better curlies with it, its cheaper, and you are still able to use it even if your hair is long or short, though you will take a little longer with it with long hair. Personally, i wouldve gotten the 1 inch instead of the 2 inch because its more ergonomical to get more to the roots and take up less space if stored in box for the cord to be in. | | Reply by kelli

I think it donsnt matter because you with have hair to straghten no matter how short or long it is..i understand you r saying that your hair is curly and you think that it should either be straght or curly all of the time but you have your moods for each day..my answer is BUY IT!! | Spilt Ends
For people that used this straightener and still is I have a question, does it give your hair a lot more spilt ends than usual? I know that having spilt ends is natural but after using straightener u may get more. Also, does it damage your hair or makes it dry? After using it does it make your hair shinier making it looks like its thin, because I have corse thick thick hair and it looks like its straight but not shiny, silky nor healthy. If you answer this it will be great. Question posted by Ally Wed Aug 16 2006 Submit your answer | Reply by Lena

Yeah I have naturally curly 3b hair and although I LOVE my sedu, it does give me more split ends. You just need to get them trimmed off every 6-8 weeks. Do that and you are fine. The sedu will dry your hair out though not as badly as other flat irons-I use deep conditioner along with regular conditioner everytime I wash. If I do that my hair does not get oo dry. The sedu DEFINITELY without a doubt makes my hair very very shiny and my hair is a total puffball after I blowdry it straight the sedu makes it look thin and manageable.
I love it. Hope I was helpful to you | | Reply by kyra lafaun

usually flatirons will give you more split ends. it really depends on the type of flatiron you use. From the information i read about the sedu it wont give you as much split ends as other flatirons.
As for the second question it all depends on the type of hair you have. but the sedu will most likely not make your hair dry.
I hope my answes helped you with your questions! | | Reply by Gretchen

All heat styling appliances damage hair. The heat can breakdown the proteins that compose the hair. Also is burns off the natural oils in your hair that keep it healthy. Lastly the intense heat can burn or boil internal moisture in the hair. All this dries out your hair and weakens it making is break more easily. The best way to prevent this and split ends is to use a conditioner and heat protection product (spray or gel).
Everyone is different though, it all depends on what kind of hair you have to begin with. I love straighteners and how they make my hair look healthy, smooth, and shiny, but thats just it .. look. So just take precautions and be nice to your hair. | What's the best way for boys to straighten there hair?

2.Blowdry.its as easy as that | Very Dry hair
I just received my Sedu. My hair is tick and very dry. I treat my hair with special coconut hair oil once a week and mayoinase deep treatment once a week, too. It makes my hair glowing and not too dry. After I wash my hair and dry it, I separate my hair into different section and start straighten it with Sedu. It works but my hair is still too thick and very dry. So I put a litte bit of Frizz-ease John Frieda and still not the way I want it. My hair is still coarse and not smooth. I put my sedu at 370. What else should I do to have a slick and shining hair? Thanks Question posted by Tienne Sat May 20 2006 Submit your answer | Reply by Amy

Try "slush gloss" by Framesi. I bought mine at my salon and it works great if you use enough (a quarter amount). You put it in your hair when it's wet or dry and from my experience, it never leaves my hair greasy looking. I live in Texas and it's always humid here. It controls frizzies and makes my hair shiney. I love it and haven't stopped using it since I got it. It also doesn't contain alcohol which is bad for your hair. | | Reply by light4Him

What I do to flatten my hair is this:
I take a section of my hair and leave it down and clip the rest of it on the top of my head. I part the sections I'm working on down the middle and put my hair on each side of my shoulders. Then, I straighten it in small sections. Then, when I'm done with that section, I let my hair out of the clip and select another section (around my entire head) and repeat what I did with the first section. It's basically taking your hair in parts and straightening it that way. I hope that this makes sense (it's hard to explain). It sounds as though it would be time consuming, but once you get used to it, it only takes about ten minutes to straighten all of your hair. I have thin hair, but A LOT of it and I can straighten mine in less than ten minutes now. Also, I've discovered that allowing my hair to dry naturally (completely dry) instead of blow drying it, makes my hair flatter and smoother. ALWAYS use a thermal protectant for your hair to prevent any kind of heat damage from regular use of your flat iron. Good luck! :) | | Reply by anomynous

I part my hair like where my part is (like how you have your bangs parted to the side) and make a line all the way to the back of my head. then I just do the side that has more hair parted first and go from the bottom up.
then when I'm done with all my hair I take a mirror in front and back of me a check to see if I got it all :) | Permed Hair
I have a curly perm (a year ago) and i remember the stylist telling me that the curls will loosen over time.. it didn't, it's still spiral-y. Hmmm I would be very careful if your other iron damaged your hair extensions... If they are made from human hair then if you used it at a low setting it shouldnt be problem. BUT>>> If you are unsure you could call the hairdressers you had it done at :) Hope this helps ^^ | | Reply by AtOmic CONche

I have human slip in extensions and I wash and flat iron mine all the time. Human hair extensions that are high lighted or dyed will always be treated with a silicone like coating to restore a soft shiny texture.
Therefore, after you wash your extensions with a mild shampoo ( I recommend a bay shampoo), you ALWAYS need to follow up with a deep nourishing conditioner. I recommend rinsing under the tap so they dont become tangled, and NEVER brush the hair when wet.
After you 've washed & condioned your extensions, I highly recommend a silicone based serum, like John Freida's FRIZZ EAZE SERUM. Trust me, That serum makes a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE!!! Once your extensions are dry, gently comb them out from the bottom first, and then procceed to flat iron. Your extensions will feel like SILK! Guarenteed! | What type of Heat Protection?

I love Sleek.Look Smoothing System by Matrix. These products come numbered and this one is numbered "3". It's a thermal protectant and smoothing system in one. I've used it for three years now and I only need to have my hair trimmed once a year (I straighten my hair at least three times a week.) Stylists are amazed that I only trim my hair once a year because of how often I straighten my hair. I know it's because of this product. Also, I RARELY blow dry my hair. I let it dry naturally (I'll shower at night and let it dry over night if I know that I'll need to straighten it in the morning). This also helps protect your hair from heat damage. | | Reply by ashley

I've been looking for a great straightening product for years and I've spent TONS of money on all of the really expensive "salon quality" products... but honestly? I've been using GOT2B CRAZYSLEEK Hot Smooth Iron & Blow Dry Lotion for like th past six months... it's like 4 dollars a bottle and works magic. I spray some into my hands and run it through before blowdrying, add a TINY bit more right before flat ironing (Like one spritz for my entire head), and then just smooth one more spritz worth over the top of my hair when I'm done for a nice sleek shine :) Definitely one of the best and most affordable products out there.
