I have chemically treated hair (relaxer), and, I too am undecided as to whether or not I should purchase the Chi or the Sedu. Although my stylist uses the Chi, he even acknowledges that they are rather fickle. I just want a product that will help reduce my natural frizziness and not compromise the health of my hair. Additionally, I live in Texas and the humidity is ridiculous. Also, I exercise 5-6 days a week so I need to be able to iron my hair nearly everyday. I've just started straightening my hair after years of wearing it natural and I don't want the breakage/damage that comes along with relaxed hair. I'm particularly interesting in hearing from someone who chemically straightens their hair and who has naturally course/ thick/ or extremely curly hair. Sedu is the best flat iron that I've used so far on my occassionaly processed (but constantly color treated) hair. It is gentle and takes out my frizz and curls in less amount of time than other flat irons that I have used. I would definitely recommend it | thick, coarse, wavy hair
Ok, my hair isn't exactly the most manageable. Its always in the way and its...well...huge. i'm considering getting the Sedu, but i want to hear from someone if it gets rid of puffiness. Like, i want my hair to be flat and silky, and the product sounds terrific, i just want to hear it from someone who has hair like me. Oh, and i also wanted to say that I'm really glad that it doesn't snag or break your hair because that was a problem i had with my other two straighteners. Thank you and please answer. Yes! My hair is thick, coarse and curly. This flat iron does the trick. I have to go over it a few times to make it really flat and shiny...also take smaller sections for really shiny flat hair - but it works! | | Reply by Diana

It will definitely get your hair flat especially if you use a comb and straighten or use a straightening serum. Try it you will be amazed! | Chi or Sedu?
Hi I have very thick curly and wavy hair. I was wondering if the Chi or the Sedu is better? Friends have told me they bought the Chi and love it, but after reading this website it seems the Sedu might work better. Has anyone compared the two? I haven't used the Chi yet, but I have read reviews for both the Chi and the Sedu, and it seems to me that the Chi has poor quality. It breaks down easily and doesn't give as great results as the Sedu.
I hope this helped you a bit. | | Reply by Sedu User

i have used both and well they work about the same. The Chi is heavier and doesnt get as hot as the sedu on the outside. | | Reply by Maria

I had a problem with my sedu after about a year it would not heat up and the on light would still be lit even if I turned it of. I was able to get a replacement under warranty with folica. Just remember to register your iron on the sedu website. | close tight?

Sedu most definately I have both Sedu is my favorite of the two ! | How many watts is the Sedu?
I need a flat iron with at least 200 watts. Does anyone who purchased the product know how many watts are indicated on the actual device. (I did not see this information in the product details). Question posted by AMR Thu Jun 30 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by NY Stylist

Sedu flat iron is 75W. If you are thinking higher wattage means more powerful, it is actually incorrect. Wattage simply means its power requirement. It does not necessarily make the flat iron more powerful. For example, if you take a Hot tools 170W iron and compare it to Sedu which uses 75W, you will find Sedu is actually much powerful and heats up much quicker and gets hotter. | does it really work
does it really really work or are you just lying ...because i really want this but my mom doesnt believe me that it is a really great one ...she says maybe you guys made the pictures look better by computer or somthin Question posted by brittany Wed Jun 29 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by rayana

| Curl the ends?
I am considering purchasing the Sedu, but don't see any information about being able to do flips and curls like some of the other staighterners. Does the Sedu have this capabiliby? Question posted by Michelle Wed Jun 29 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Debra

It can flip the ends too, it is more difficult to do with the larger plate though. I think 1" maybe better at curl the ends | Damage?
I've just purchased a Sedu, and it hasn't came yet.I've been using irons for 4 years already, and my hair has so many split ends! And sometimes when I pinch a hair, part of it would snap off!!! It's horrible! So I cut my hair a few inches off to try to have a "brand new start" with irons. I'm afraid my hair will be damaged again once I use the Sedu. Would someone WITH EXPERIENCE USING THE SEDU tell me how your hair condition is right now? How long have you been using it and how much damage does your hair have??Thank you sooo much for your reply! I've had the sedu for almost a year and it still damages my hair like it did with other irons but it is much slower. I have heard from stylists that it is a good idea to get your hair trimmed every few weeks as it will prevent your hair from getting split ends. |
