How to make loose powder portable submitted by: Mary, Sat Mar 03 2007

I've used loose powders of all kinds for many years. Usually they are not packaged for traveling; so the simple solution is empty a reasonable amount into a small plastic container to carry with you. Most drugstores sell these. They even have small round ones with a filter on top (small holes) and a cover. Simple - no reason to carry around leaking containers. Also, if your skin is truly oily - cotton balls/pads are much more hygienic. I learned all the tricks years ago when I started using the Erno Lazlo skincare line, when it was only available at Bergdorf Goodmans in NYC in the early 1970's, and that was the only commercial skincare line seriously addressing oily skin in this country.

Here's how I use the loose powder: I put on my foundation and makeup; then I shake the powder to the top without the pad in it and then blot it with the pad. I then blot it all over my face... I don't rub it in. I then take a brush and blend it in all over. It is like magic - smooth, light, glowing but not shiny - and stays a long time. One last note - I keep a rubber band tightly around the one in my purse otherwise it would open up.
