I have wavy, thick, coarse hair, and this works better on dry hair than wet. I normally use this on wet hair, but it makes it still pretty frizzy/flipped. I use it on setting 30 on dry hair and it works fine.

It does make my hair smell burnt, and the plates are rusting a little, but it is two years old and I use it occasionally.

Even though this thing is great, I am investing in a nicer one and am going to only use this one on travel and for touch-ups.

(It takes a minute and a half to heat to the highest setting)

I've had this straightener for several months. The first few times I used it I thought it worked great. About a month after that once I plugged it in and let it heat up it smelled burnt. I looked at my pictures about a year back, and my natural hair then looked a lot helthier than it does now. I used to have naturally curly hair, but now my hair is naturally poofy and frizzy. I once had healthy hair with barely any split ends at all, but a few months after I began using this tool it was never then hard to find split ends on my hair. I STRONGLY WOULDN'T RECCOMEND this. I've had several other hair straighteners in the past that probably did damage my hair, but probably not as noticable as the damage that this ironer has done to my hair.

The plates are awful and will not "glide" down the hair. Did a terrible job flattening the cuticle of my hair so it was still frizzy.

I bought this in the 1 inch model from the drugstore in March. The popping I heard while doing my hair, was frying the ends of my hair. It didn't really smell burnt, but did have a strange smell. After 2 weeks it shorted out and died. I guess I got what I paid for, but after researching, I recently bought a Solia. Much happier now.

Product Rating: 3 a pretty good straightner
Reviewer: anonymus   Sat Apr 26 2008

i think this is a good straightner, its not expensive and it does a good job. i have gotten split ends but i use my straightner almost everyday. it's nice not having to dry my hair first because i have really thick and frizzy hair and drying just takes forever.I would recommend this straightner i think it's a great thing to have when you feel like wearing my hair down.

i got this straightener two years ago. and i am still using it until my parents will let me get a sedu. but i think this iron isn't bad, it straightens pretty fast and heats up in less than a minute. it has many heat settings and allow you to use it on wet hair. don't try it! it makes your hair frizz up and completely sucks the moisture out of your hair! it will do fine on damp or dry hair but not wet. surprisingly, it works better on damp than on dry. it seems to have less frizz and stay "straight" longer. this is overall a pretty nice iron.

Product Rating: 1 Half decent
Reviewer: Isabella from Minnesota  Sat Apr 19 2008

If my hair is really curly, it at least makes a difference. Here are some Pro's and Cons.

Pros-
-easy to hold/use
-able to use on wet/damp hair
-cheap

Cons-
-when used on wet hair, it cackles and fries it, and the steam burns me
-beeps loudly when setting temp/heated up (not good for morning use)
-Leaves ends flipped/split/fried
-Hair doesn't stay straight
-Smells like burnt hair, and makes me smell like burnt hair

Overall, this is what it's worth... and possibly a good travel/starter iron.

I am getting another nicer one because my hair still flips on the ends... not worth it.

Product Rating: 2 Save your money, don't buy this iron
Reviewer: Stephanie from Houston, Texas  Fri Apr 11 2008

I would NOT recommend this iron! I have had this iron for 6 months but it is starting to get rust on it, it takes a long time to heat up and I have to go over my hair multiple times for it to straighten at all! I have wavy, kind of fluffy hair, but it doesn't make much of a difference unless I spend a lot of time going over the same piece of hair multiple times. Also my hair won't stay straight all day, by the end of the day it is starting to get some waves in it. Some of my friends have CHIs and they are worth the price. Save your money and don't buy this iron, you will be disappointed!

this thing is supposed to work well with wet hair but it will only make things worse. DON'T USE WITH WET HAIR! the steam will burn the crap out of your hands! pus, it takes forever to straighten hair while its wet. don't bother wasting your money on this, spend a little more and get something worthy.

Product Rating: 2 Not worth it!

Someone bought this as a gift for my daughter. She has thick, wavy hair and it did a decent job straightening her hair. I'd never used a straightener before. My hair is very thick and frizzy. It took FOREVER, but it made my hair look awesome! I used it a couple of times after that, but quickly noticed that it was frying my hair. It caused severe damage and split ends. I never used it again. But my daughter uses it all the time, and her hair looks horribly damaged! I'll stick with my curling iron to deal with my wild hair.

Product Rating: 2 an OK straigtener, for the price
Reviewer: Katy from Missouri  Mon Mar 24 2008

i've had this straightener for about a year, now. it straightens fairly well, but it only stays straight for a couple of hours. my hair has a natural flip to it, unless i kinda flip my hair under, a couple hours later my hair is all flipped out again. not to mention my hair gets snagged it it, which HURTS, it also breaks my hair and i now have split ends. (which i never had before i started using this straightener) you also want to be sure to NEVER use it when your hair is wet. BIG mistake. it does not straighten OR dry. just makes your hair a frizzy, fried mess. and i wouldn't go by the temperature guide. i have to put it on 22 to even straighten my hair half-way decently. the only good thing about this straightener is that is isn't to bad for the price, and the temperature adjustment is a nice feature. although i do have to give it props for being 10x better than those cheap conair straighteners!

Product Rating: 4 Its really not that bad...

These other people are obv exaggerating. I have fairly straight hair already, but after i straighten my hair w. this iron, i can see the diff. friends even asked my if i got a haircut because it looks like it would after the salon blow dries and/or straightens your hair. My hair stays straight for a few days, too. i straightened my hair yesterday morning and now it is still pin straight, the next day at 730 pm, like it was right after i straightened it. I will admit that a little frizz comes, but not a lot. my friend came over one day right after her shower and she straightened her hair, when it was still wet. it dried w.in seconds-no joke. These other reviews are of ppl w. thick, curly hair, but if you have straighter hair like me, it works really well.

First of all, I have thick, VERY curly hair. It's about 5" below my shoulders in length. I do like this straightener, but it has its downsides.

Pros:
-Quick heat up
-Multiple temperature settings, plus a beeping alert when it's ready to use
-Can be used on wet/damp hair
-Helps hair look less frizzy for a little while
-Ceramic-coated plates work well while the coating lasts.
-Good price

Cons:
-My biggest problem with this straightener is that the plates are ceramic COATED, and the coating wears off after a few months of everyday use.
-It usually doesn't keep my hair straight for very long. I'm not sure if this is just my hair, but I don't like how it sometimes gets frizzy and wavy again in just mild humidity or simply after a couple of hours on a regular day.

I've bought two of these straighteners. The first one never broke, but the ceramic coating wore off the plates except for the very ends (basically where my hair rarely touched them). I do have to say, this straightener does a pretty good job for it's price. You can get it for around $25. Also, I have dropped this thing so many times and it still heats up quickly and straightens well. I don't use this when I get out of the shower, because I don't like to crank up the temperature all the way to one of the "wet" heat settings, but I have used it when my hair is damp. I usually leave it on the "18" temperature setting (it goes up to 30). I don't recommend using this when you're hair is soaked...use it if your hair is damp at most. I actually think my hair looks a little better and stays straighter longer if I straighten it when it's damp but almost dry as opposed to completely dry. This flat iron makes a great "emergency" tool in case you need to run out and your hair isn't fully dry yet. I hate blow drying my hair because it makes it frizzy, so I always resort to this straightener if I'm in a rush.

3/5 stars for doing the job it's supposed to. I just wish the ceramic coating on the plates wouldn't wear off, and that my hair stayed straighter longer after using it. Overall, though, I think it's a good quality flat iron for the price.

Product Rating: 1 Couldn't even tell the difference..
Reviewer: Hayden M. from CA  Sat Mar 15 2008

My hair is slightly wavy with several curls here and there but isn't so thick. When I tried this flat iron you couldn't tell the difference if I used an iron at all..really my hair looks quite straight but a little wavy and flipped on the bottom. it just made the bottom part seem straight but my hair was a bit frizzy and after a short time of two hours the bottom part came wavy again.

Product Rating: 1 I HATE IT
Reviewer: JESSICA from HICKSVILLE, NEW YORK  Sun Mar 09 2008

I WAS ALITTLE NERVOUS AT FIRST FOR A GOOD REASON. I TURNED IT ON AND SHOULD HAVE KNOWN FROM THE BURNING SMELL OF IT HEATING UP IT WAS GOING TO BE REALLY BAD. I GAVE IT THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT AND TRIED TO USE IT ON MY TOWEL DRIED HAIR AND OMG IT'S HORRIBLE. IT WAS LIKE BURNING MY FREAKIN HAIR, I SMELTAND WATCHED IT FRY MY HAIR I WAS LIKE WOW I'M NOT EVEN GOING TO ATEMPT TO FINSH THAT SIDE OF MY HAIR. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FOR SUCH A CHEAP PRODUCT. TRY IT IF YOU DARE BUT I WOULDN'T EVEN BOTHER IF I WERE YOU UNLESS YOU DON'T MIND BURNING YOUR HAIR AND LOTS OF FRIZZ.

Product Rating: 2 Bad but not horrible
Reviewer: Amanda from Iowa  Sat Mar 08 2008

I wouldn't necessarily recommend this hair straightner because I would never go back to having a store bought straightener, I have a Solia now and I love it. But the wet2straight is one of the more decent straighteners if you use heat protectant and some shine serum afterwards. It did snag my hair and I was sick of the split ends but I will say, for the price, I'd buy this over a Chi hair straightener anyday. It's also about the shampoo you use, but it's not a horrible flat iron.

Product Rating: 1 HATE THIS REMINGTON
Reviewer: Heather from St. Louis Missouri  Wed Feb 13 2008

I have had this straightener since about july 15 2007,and i LOVED it at first and thought that i couldnt live without it but then it started taking forever to heat up and all it did was damage my hair and much like one of the other reviews how straightners are suppose to keep you hair straight untill you get it wet it will only me last me a few hours out of the day and my hair will get soo frizzy at school because the whole school is HOT and HUMID. about 7 months ago i would reccomend it but now i HATE it sooo much i just want to break it and alot of my frineds have the Chi Farouk band flat iron and LOVE it and i can tell so much of a diferece between my hair and theirs mine looks soo unhealthy and theirs looks healthy and will stay straight all day and mine wont even last me 3 blocks out of the day..i am really wanting a chi even though they are a little on the pricy side i would pay for it all of my friends says it is worth the extra money and I have 3 straighteners and i have not out of the three found one of those that i like I have 2 conairs THAT SUCKS..I would not reccomend a conair or a remington to anyone.I have natural banana curls that are super frizzy and hate them i am really trying to find a good straightener and have found NONE what so ever and my friends keep on telling me i should get a chi and i am that is the only straightener that my friends LOVE they adore their CHI...so i give this straightener 2 thumbs down..NO were close to being a Five star product it suck soo bad

Product Rating: 1 IT'S A DISGRACE!!
Reviewer: Dilley from Kelton, New Jerzey  Sat Feb 02 2008

This piece of junk is AWFUL. People may think it is good, but they do not know that this is actually VERY DAMAGING. How long does it keep your hair straight? ONE DAY. Flat irons are supposed to keep your hair straight for weeks, or at least until you get your hair wet. DONT BUY THIS
