This product works well on curly hair. I use Redken water wax 03 with the Redken rough clay 20, and I never have a bad hair day. The hair is easily slicked back and looks awesome. These are great products for Black hair! As an African American, I originally bought this product hoping that it would give me that "wet" look. While it was unsuccessful at achieving that look for me, I found that its great at slicking down my new growth, or putting my hair into a nice, sleek ponytail, no matter how nappy my hair is. Whenever I have flyaways, this product also comes in handy. It costs a good bit but the price is definitely worth it because it lasts for such a long time. I've had the jar for over a year! The scent is also fabulous. If there is better out there I would love to know what it is. This is definitely a keeper! Let me tell you why. This may be a wax, but it is flexible and unlike pomades it does not melt down your face in warm weather. It may be soft and flexible, but it holds my hair all day long (better than creams). It's never sticky like some gels and hair sprays. You get a nice shine, but it doesn't look oily; rather, it makes my hair color look a bit richer. I have very sensitive skin, and for those of you who break out easily even from Crew products, this might work for you. FYI I have short, fine hair.
