Great straightner

I have long, very thick, coarse hair. I used the Chi for many years and it did the job but it took me over an hour to straighten my hair. I had to go over each strand three times to get my hair straight. Which was ruining my hair. My hair dresser always used the Paul Mitchell straightner and my hair came out great and it was always quick but I figured it was because it was the hair dresser. I bought the Paul Mitchell straightner and it only takes me 30 minutes to straighten my hair. The straightner really is the best. Try it, you won't be sorry.
good while i had it!..

well i have always wanted a PM straightener for a long time. My friend bought one and always did my hair, and i loved it!...she has had hers for like 3-4 years. So finally when graduation came along and i got tons of money, i figured i would buy one of my own. So the day i got it, i took it home and used it...it was awesome. I have really thick wavy hair so it helped alot...and my hair was really straight. But after only 3 days it completely stopped working!..so i just now sent it back for a new one and my mom wrote a note to send w/it to tell how rediculous it was that it just stopped working, and above all that...we had to pay shipping and handling:( can you say pricey!..

This straightener works amazing! I have had it for four years now and it still works like when I first bought it! I have fairly thick, wavy hair and it takes me 20 min to get a very straight look...or I can run it through my hair like a brush and I'm done in 5 (with a straight, but somewhat volumized look). Highly recommend!

I am Latina and I have extrmeley thick and full hair..I purchased the Paul Mitchell iron at the salon and it worked great..THEN..the green started peeling off. Turns out there was a defect in a large batch because they were manufactured elsewhere than China. I had to purchase another Paul Mitchell in the interim...THEN..this one did the same thing..I must say that Paul Mitchell has been great and replaced my flat iron for a new one. I am now struck with two...So now I am trying to sell one..lol...BUT..I WILL say that the Paul Mitchell iron is fantastic..because I have so much hair, I can style it much quicker with this iron. Ive used the Chi and corrilosi and Paul Mitchell is still my favorite. I must say it is good...just a poor business decision. They took care of me though. It happens.
reason for the mixed reviews

I have had my Paul Mitchell flat iron for about 3 yrs. It works as good today as when I took it out of the box for the first time. The reason that I am writing this review is that I have read all of the mixed feelings about this iron and want to offer some insight. My sister works for a salon that sells this iron, she had hers for years also and used it every day on a ton of clients, it lasted a long time even with excess use. When it finally broke and she ordered another one, it did not last a month...the plates turned brown, and there were problems with the cord, these are the same problems that the people writing bad reviews had. The irons were manufactured in China originally, these were the good ones. Then they were made in Korea, these are the ones with the problems. The Paul Mitchell customer service people told my sister this and sent her a new one (made in china again) and she has not had any problems. Please just make sure you get one that is made in China. This really is an awesome iron, I use mine very often and it does not damage your hair at all, it seems like it makes it nicer.

My friend has this same iron and seems to be very pleased with it. We both have frizzy and thick hair, but we have always wanted that look with the long shiny flat and straight hair. Well, she got this iron as a birthday gift, and allowed my to try it. I was amazed at the results! It was incredible! Im very satisfied with my hair now that i have one of my own!

I just fried my Paul Mitchell iron while in Europe and I have horrible hair now! I had my haidresser order me another one but it takes 1-2 weekds to come in. I was reading some of these reviews and I have to tell you that I've had my PM iron for over a year and a half and I've never had any problems with it. No cord troubles and definitely no problems with the ceramic plates. I love that you can change the temp b/c I like to use a lower setting and my daughter needs the highest setting for her curly hair. I highly recommend this product, but only if you get it from your trusted hairdresser. I've tried a PM straightener that someone ordered online and it was definitely a counterfeit!!

Ok so I have had my PM for about 2 years now which is alot longer than some of you guys but recently it just stopped coming on. I have to wiggle the cord around and hope that it comes on! I though at first that maybe it was something I did, but after reading everyone elses reviews, I now know that it's a defect! So back to the Chi I go!!
Best ever

I purchased this straightener because my hairstylist (which is not affiliated with PM) recommended it. It worked so well for the first month or so. Then after that the green coating began to turn brown and come off. The straightener still works but it probably isn't very good on my hair. I would buy it again because it worked well, but I shouldn't have spent the extra money and just stuck with a Chi.
It's pretty good

The Paul Mitchell flat iron is an ok product. I think it would work great on hair that is not as curly as mine. My hair is very long and curly; so it doesnt work so good for me. I definately think the Chi would have been a better investment. I like how the Paul Mitchell makes my hair feel smooth though. Other than that I think the Paul Mitchell is a great flat iron.
Best straightener i've ever owned.

I had a Paul Mitchell straightener for 3 1/2 years and it just recently resigned. I wasn't upset, but rather pleased. For a straightener to last that long for how often I used it and how often I forgot to turn it off before leaving the house, that's amazing. To me the Paul Mitchell straightener is the best.
it worked great for a few months....

I had been using my trusty chi for about 6 years (everyday) when it decided to break on me. In a panic I went to the salon for a replacement and they only had the PM, so I bought it. It took a little getting used to and pulled my hair at first but after about a week it was love. It kept my hair less frizzy than the Chi. Unfortunately the green stuff scratched off the plates in about 4 months. I returned mine for another chi. Overall, I would say the PM flat iron is an amazing product IF you don't mind buying a new one every year...I'll stick to the chi because it lasts a long time.
I COMPLETELY AGREE, DO NOT BUY

This hair striahgtner is a complete rip-off. I went to the salon and said I'm willing to pay the money just give me a hair straightner that will straighten my hair. I get offered the PM flat iron. In 2 months the green plating was coming off and they we're brown. Now 7 months later it won't turn on so i sent it away about a week ago and they're sending me a new one. However if i had my choice I'd be getting a whole different straightner. It's a complete piece of crap. All these people are right, DO NOT BUT IT.

my boyfriend bought me the iron last christmas. i was very excited about it bc my hair stylist had used it. well last month it started acting up. the chord is very touchy , i never wrapped my chord around it, and it turns on and off if i move it in a certain direction. not only that but the green is peeling off and is burnt. now it has a terrible burning odor when i turn it on.
blah i was so impressed with it at first... im sad that it has dissapointed me.

I keep reading these bad reviews and i can't help but wonder if they are written by Chi representatives. I bought the CHI first and my hair was silky straight and smooth but it seemed too hot for my relaxed hair and i couldn't adjust the temperature setting. I also kept reading about them burning out in less than a year and i didn't want to go through all the hassle of sending it back. I decided to buy one from a store so i could just return it to the store if it burned out. That's when the clerk told me about the Paul Mitchell iron. I like it because you can adjust the temperature and it has a swivel cord. Granted, I've only had mine for about ten months but it's working great. No 'green paint' has come off and it works just as well as it did when i bought it. I would highly recommend it, especially if you are worried about extremely high temperatures damaging your hair, because although it goes up to 400 degrees, you can always turn it down.

I bought this in December and by Feb the ceramic plating was coming off and it had burn marks all over it that WOULD NOT COME OFF. I am a cosmetologist and know how to take care of products and tools but this was just impossible to take care of. Get a Chi
