What's with the Cord?

Okay, I am relieved to know that I was not the only with the cord problem. Don't buy the PM, unless you want to hold the cord in place to straighten your hair. No joke, it's very frustrating and annoying.. and even worse after you just blew over a hundred dollars on it. Con Air is better, seriously. What a rip off.

I bought this straigthner about a month & half ago and i absolutely love it. In fact its the same one my hair dresser uses! I really recommended it, i have really thick hair that is down to the middle of my back and takes me only 30 mins to straighten my hair. Aewsome product!

I love this flat iron. I tried the chi and it has nothing on this. I go everywhere trying to find a flat iron to do it better but so far it blows the rest away.

I have a CHI and PM...the CHI DOES NOT COMPARE!!!! SORRY... I've had my PM for 2 years NO CHIPPING OF THE PLATES AT ALL. Please get the iron and see for yourself. It's all about how well you take care of the iron. P.S. I'm a Black stylist and it works just fine on ALL hair types (fine,med & course...)

mm yea, you all say that the chi is better, and it last longer and what not,but honestly this one is better,The lady who cuts/styles my hair has had it since i was little,her's stays on ALL day,and whatnot,and its sill "alive" My chi ive had three yrs,going on four.Recently Stopped working.All in all,this is better

This was a great flat iron until my heating unit started acting up - I had to keep it turned all the way up to even work right. Now my cord started making a strange noise and tons of smoke came out. What a complete rip off!!!! I had this iron for less than a year. I'm a single Mom so I really have to watch my money - my hair dresser recommended this product and I took very good care of it hoping that it would last for years. My question is if so many people are having the same problems - why is the company doing nothing about it?

I've been through two of these flat irons. The first time I didn't even have it for a year and the power was cutting out and the green plates turned brown from my hair. I'm on my second one now and the green plates again are brown and it wont come clean. Also the green stuff is comming off. I had a friend who also had problems with the power cord. It does a nice job of getting my hair straight though. I'd shop around before you purchase this.

This straightener is the most reliable I have found. After looking for a quality flat iron for months and months and asking everyone I know in the hair buisness, most of them recommended this product.
Also, the Chi used to be good, which is why people that got them many years ago still have them, but I heard that they changed companies and are now being made in a low quality factory.
If you want a great long lasting product this is definatly the way to go, even if you have to spend a few extra bucks.

This product is AMAZING when it actually works. I had the product for not even 2 weeks when it overheated and melted the plastic on the straightener and almost started a fire. I went to the hair salon where I purchased it and they gave me a new one. Its barely 6 months later and now this straighten is not working AGAIN. The light keeps blinking on and off. It would be worth the money if it lasted longer

my honest opinion about the paul mitchell flat iron was great when i first got it. i took very good care of it, and it broke about 3 weeks after buying it. they wouldnt let me return it because i didnt keep my receipt. i dont know why it broke, it still looks brand new but while i was using it the flat iron started smoking. now it wont turn on. so my honest opinion is it is horrible. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON IT. AND IF U R TAKING THE RISK.. AT LEAST KEEP UR RECIEPT!!

I've owned my PM flat iron for about a year and although it works great, my biggest concern is the poor quality of the product! Within a couple of months there was a wire shortage and the flat iron would only turn on when in a certain position. I took really good care of it, so there shouldn't be a reason why it suddenly stopped working. Then one morning as I was straigtening my hair I heard a spark. The plug caught on fire. Since then I've been trying to contact Customer Service but still not luck! Don't purchase this item!!

I have very thick, coarse, frizzy hair, so finding a straightner that keeps my hair straight in humidity seemed impossible. My stylist uses this one and I finally decided that I'd spend the money and buy it. She did warn me that some of these straightners have had problems with shorts after about 12 months though. Anyway, I love this straightner. It makes my hair feel and appear smooth and soft. I do still have a few fly aways, but with my hair, I think it's impossible to hold every hair in place. I would recommend this to anyone, especially thick, hard to manage hair. I keep mine set to 400 and I only have to go over my hair once. I also use the Paul Mitchell serum and that seems to help too.

This flat iron seemed like a dream come true, until after only ten months the thing totally stopped working! Before this flat iron i had a chi, it was great too, but nearly a year later it quit working as well! This flat iron is truely amazing and much better than the chi, but for the price I expected a longer life. After only five months the green coating started chipping off, then i noticed that it didn't seem as hot as is used to be, then yesterday it just gave out. I took excellent care of this flat iron; i never dropped it or wrapped the cord around it. I did use it every day for at least 15 minutes a day; but this is supposed to be a salon quality flat iron, it should have lasted for at least 2 years. I have never been so dissapointed in a product performance, and the paul mitchell company has pitifull customer service. Don't waste your money, for only 10 months of use.

This was given to me as a gift- I used it for a year, took very good care of it, not wrapping the cord around the flat iron, etc.
Recently, the light started blinking on and off, similar to what i have been reading on here... the heat stops and what usually takes me 10 min to iron my hair now takes me almost an hour because I have to fiddle with it until the light turns on, let it heat and iron as much and as fast as i can, then let it re-heat. URRRGHHHH!!!!
I have been trying to contact PM customer service. wish me luck!

I've only had my iron for 14 months. For the price of the iron I'm amazed at the poor quality!! Within 10 months the ceramic was chipping off and now (just like many others have said) there is a short in my wire. It is impossible to keep it on and straighten my hair at the same time!!!!
My next flat iron will be a Chi! Many girls I know have had there Chi for 3+ yrs and No Problems!! Plus, they're cheaper!!

I have owned many different flat irons including the CHI and the FHI, I loved my CHI but after one year of use it broke, I wasn't very happy because CHI's are not cheap. So my hair stylist told me about this flat iron so I bought one and it is awesome it has lasted longer than the CHI and has done just as well on my hair as the CHI did for a better price... I highly recommend this product.

All the other ones of different brands lasted about a year I have now had this one for going on 4 years. Its the best of them all and lasts a while, as long as in is taken care of, like all fragile products. They dont get any better then this!

I had paul mitchell flat iron a couple years ago... then, i switched to a pink chi... turns out, it seems as if the paul mitchell achieved that pin straight look better than the chi!!! totally worth every penny and makes your hair silky and shiny!!!!!

I was very happy with this smoothing iron. It worked wonderfully and made my hair straighter than I could even had imagined. I loved my hair and used the Paul Mitchell for about a year and a half but soon enough, the light started to flicker and then turn off. The heat would not stay either. I am very disappointed in what I believed was a wonderful product. Also that is a more valued straightner at only about half the price of this. Any tips?
