took 4 eva to heat up compared to the sedu or the solia. i have really curly hair and it made it feel coarse. it is bigger than the sedu so you cant do your roots that well. it looks weak and hollow. it just doesnt compare to the sedu, which is also cheaper. would work for straight hair with mild to moderate waves. i recommend the sedu, 1000x better.
Breaks easy

I like the way it works on my hair, but I only had it a month before it broke. And many of my friends have the same problem. Either with the cord or the heating process.
DO NOT BUY

Whatever you do please do not buy this straightener... i read these reviews and you don't know the full story.. i bought this from the girl thats has done my hair for years.. i have really thick curly hair and it's middle of my back long... i have also colored it for many years.. and i no you are saying well thats not my hair at all and if your hair is like mine i'm sorry.. back to the point when i first bought the straightener i was soooo excited... my hair looked better than all the girls that were useing the chi... everyone wanted my straightener... i didn't use it all the time because i didn't want to damage my hair... about after i had it for 5 MONTHS at the most it broke... i would turn it on and it would not heat up... the light would not come on... if i wiggled the cord around it would work for a little while then it would stop again... normally it takes me at leat 45 minutes to perfectly straighten my hair... after it broke IT TOOK ME 2 HOURS AND IT STILL LOOKED LIKE CRAP... i would post pictuers but its completely broken now.. even if i stand on one leg and hold my tounge to the left and pray to god for it to work it won't... and after this i sent it back and they wouldn't give me my money back because it looked like i wrapped the cord around the straightener and it caused the wires to disconect and if i would have read the instructions and warenty details is says DO NOT WRAP CORD AROUND STRAIGHTENER... THATS BULLS**t I DID NOT wrap the freaking cord around the straightener... so beware please do not buy this straightener... it's not worth your time or money... Thanks

i just bought this flat iron a few days ago and it is absolutly amazing. i have curly hair and most flat irons do not work at all. this one straightened my hair in half the time that it normally took.
not worth the money

my CHI broke after 6 years of reliable use. I had to borrow my roommates Paul Mitchell flat iron and I hated it. first of all, it kept shorting out and would stay heated up. Next, I dont like the adjustable heat. The CHI goes to the right temp automatically. dont waste your money when you can buy a CHI for cheaper.
The iron is a fire hazard...

THis iron is a fire hazard. It works great while it works. I have never wrapped the cord but it burst in a pile of sparks and smoke on day while I was curling my hair. Can you believe it....never again...be very careful if you buy this product..

I have had this straightner for 3 years now and since I have had it I have dropped it many times. The cord has been chewed through and twisted beyond belief and I have left it on for 48 hours straight more than 5 times and it still works very good. The only problem I have ever had with it was the turning on and off but I'm not complaining after all I did put this straightner through hell and back.
Swivel Cord ruined the whole iron !!

The swivel cord was the reason why I only gave this iron 1 star. It was a good iron until 3 months after using it, the red light (indicating the iron was ON) would turn on and off depending on how I held the iron. When the swivel cord moved, the light went off..The iron never worked right, and never kept heat because it was consistently turning itself on and off. I was really gentle with this iron, and never once was did I pull the cord, twist the cord or drop the iron.
All in all...I will be hesitant to buy ANY iron that had a swivel cord...I don't see where it's really necessary, and it seems too fragile.

My daughter is a hair dresser and I am an electrician that also was a tool repair person years ago. The flat iron stopped working and I took it all apart to find there are 2 fuses under one of the ceramic pads. They are both blown. Sad thing is, Paul Mitchell does not sell repair parts for there product. The fuses are probably 40 cent parts and unfortunately are unique by design and cannot be replaced with a standard fuse. I would not do buisness with someone that won't sell parts for there product.
expensive and not worth it.

i bought my first paul mitchell 4 years ago and within 6 months it broke. i loved the way it made my hair soft and straight so i went and bought another one, it broke within 8 months. keep in mind, i spent $150 on each straightner, it was not worth it.

I absoultly love this flat iron... it is by far the best I have ever used. Not only does it heat up fast, but I have really thick curly hair and it get's my hair straight in half the time of any other flat iron and leaves my hair silky and shiney!!!!

I am a stylist and have tried atleast 10 different brands anywhere from $40 to $250 and this is by far the best iron i have ever had the pleasure of using. When they first came out I did have to return one as a defect. But there was no problem at all they sent me the new version and it even surpased the performance of the first one. The company has been incredible and has the best tools I have ever worked with and I have been a sylist for 14 years.

Better than the Chi! My mom is a stylist and she has a lot of irons. The Paul Mitchell is the best one. It heats up extrememly fast and gets really really hot. My friends always love it when they use it.

amazing product, after 18 months of use it starded to make strange sounds, then a big sparkle, a lot of smoke and...no more paul mitchell products, I swear

Wow! I'm surprised to read about some of the problem's people have had with this smoothing iron. I've had 2 now and each has lasted for a few years. I've (accidentally) dropped mine on a tile floor multiple times and wrap my cord around it daily and it's still working great. I'm planning to buy a 3rd one just to have on hand since my current one is getting old. I really like this curling iron! I hope by posting this comment I didn't just jinx my third iron!
The same problem

I have the same problem...I have had it for about two years now but now the wire is all messed up and it's extremely frustrating because it was so expensive...but other than that I loved it...time for a new one.
good, but.....

This straightener is a better iron then the CHI for sure bc it can go higher in degrees. The problem with this iron that I had and I had with the CHI is the cord is shorting out. It happened on my CHI and I found out that when you rap the cord around the iron thats when it looses its connection at the meeting point of the cord and iron. So I got the paul Mitch iron and DID NOT wrap the cord ever! The iron still shorted out on me. So now im switching to a different iron again
