I have only had mine for 9 months and it is doing the exact same thing - am sure I sent in the warranty so not sure what I do now...it does have a date of June 30 2007 on it but I did not purchase until October of 2007 - this is the second one I have purchased and not LAST though I totally like it when it IS working | warranty

WELL I AM SO GLAD TO SEE THAT SOMEONE ELSE IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I AM ON MY 2ND FLAT IRON AND THE GREEN IS COMING OFF. I WENT TO MY BEAUTICIAN TODAY AND SHE CALLED THE COMPANY THEY ORDER FROM AND THEY TOLD HER THAT I NEEDED TO STOP USING IT AND THAT THEY WILL SEND A NEW ONE. THERE WAS A BAD BATCH THAT WAS PRODUCED AND THEY ARE VERY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. SO YOU NEED TO SEND IT BACK. MINE WAS ALSO ABOUT 2 MONTHS OLD. HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL TO YOU. | | Reply by MICHELLE

OK THIS IS MICHELLE AGAIN. I DID GET MY FLAT IRON REPLACED. THIS ONE ONCE AGAIN, THE GREEN IS COMING OFF THIS WILL BE MY 4TH IRON TO EXCHANGE. I DID FIND OUT THAT IS THE DATE ON THE WHITE STICKER,ON THE INSIDE OF THE IRON, SAYS 2006, IT IS A DEFECTED IRON. SO HOPEFULLY MY NEXT ONE WILL NOT BE MADE IN 2006. SO IF IT HAPPENS TO YOU AGAIN GO GET IT EXCHANED EVERY TIME. PAUL MITCHELL IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM SO IT IS NO TROUBLE TO GET A NEW ONE.

You may want to contact the phone number listed on the direction, safety tips and warranty sheet included with the iron. The phone number is: 1-800-941-8999. You might be able to send it to them for repair or they may inform you of an authorized service dealer. | compare to ghd
im really having trouble deciding between paul mitchell, ghd, or sedu- why would yours be a better iron? my hair is very dry from color, just want it to feel better again. my magic ionic is on its last leg, but worked great for a while. wanted to try something differnt. I have the Sedu, Solia and the Pink GHD MK4 irons and out of all of them, my hands down favorite is the GHD. I have never tried the Paul Mitchell iron, but it is probably similar to the Sedu and the Solia. The GHD is the "Rolls Royce" of straightening irons and is worth every penny. I really liked my Sedu iron and decided that I wanted to try the GHD from all of the great things I heard about it and I am so happy I did. I had to run the iron over each section of hair with the Sedu iron to get it very straight and with the GHD you only need one pass and it is straight, shiny and stays that way for a long time (until you wash it). The GHD iron is AMAZING and I can not say enough good things about it. I also have color treated hair and my color has not faded at all with the GHD. You can also use the GHD to make waves, curls, flips, etc.
Definitely buy the GHD! | Comparison

Unless you use greasy products when using a flat-iron, theres is no need to clean it...but if you insist on take just a bay wipe and wipe it when its OFF and NOT hot, you can alos just take a little squirt of lysol on a napkin that will work too. | | Reply by ayla

try using some cheap perfume, rub it in a little then gently try to scrape it off with your nails, it worked for me and i had some really bad product build-up i mean like the whole thing was brown. | | Reply by Gerilyn

Recommended cleaning from the manufacturer states:
"Make sure the iron is unplugged and cool to the touch. To protect the ceramic coating, clean the paddles with a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol or glass cleaner." | | Reply by Megan
