Electrolysis works by introducing a very mild electrical current into the moist base of the hair follicle which stops the blood supply to the root. The hair root is then neutralized by a chemical action which prevents it from regrowing. Home Electrolysis is designed for removing embarrassing hair from the upper lip, eyebrows, chin, chest and bikini line. It can also be used for arms and legs but the treatment will take time and patience. As with all electrolysis, some hairs are resistant and could regrow. These hairs will require more than one treatment. Directions: Please read enclosed instructions carefully before using your Home Electrolysis. Preparation for use: - Cleanse skin and stylet tip with alcohol before each session and allow to dry.
- Perform a "sample test" for sensitivity of at least 5 hairs. Wait 24 hours before beginning treatment.
- Do not treat an area larger than 1 square inch (25 x 25 mm) at any one time.
- Moisten fingers with a salt solution (half a teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of water) and hold the touchband with moistened fingers. Moisture is vital to conduct the gentle current necessary to remove hair. Finger must remain moist throughout use, however, do not allow water to drip onto stylet tip, as this will cause it to operate prematurely.
- A magnifying mirror is helpful and good light is essential.
To use your home electrolysis: - Set Comfort Control Dial to position 1. Push the slide button forward to expose the stylet tip. Hold the stylet like a pen with fingers around touchband.
- Do not squeeze skin adjacent to the hair being removed. Excessive pressure will cause skin damage.
- Note angle of hair growth, insert the stylet tip along the underside of the hair and into the follicle. Use only downward pressure as sideways pressure will blend the tip.
- Hold the stylet tip firmly in place. When proper contact has been made, you will feel a tingling sensation. If you do not feel a slight tingle, gradually increase the setting of the Comfort Control Dial until a tingling sensation is felt. This indicates that the current is flowing. In addition, try gently rotating the stylet tip in the follicle a few times to make sure you are contacting the hair root.
- When you feel the slight tingling, hold the stylet firmly in place and count to 15 slowly. This will indicate that you have treated the hair for approximately 15 seconds. Removes stylet and use tweezers to gently try to remove the hair. If the hair resists, or if the skin "lifts", re-insert the stylet and treat for another 15 seconds. Treatment time will also vary depending on the position of the Comfort Control Dial and upon the area you are treating. Experiment until you find your treat cycle but do not treat for more than two 15-second cycles at a single sitting.
Warnings & Precautions: - Do not use Electrolysis if you have any of the following conditions: Diabetes, Hepatitis, Blood Disorders, Pigmentation Problems, Lupus, Scleroderma (Pigmentosis), Impetigo, Chronic skin disorders; or if you: scar easily, wear a pacemaker or similar device, are pregnant, are taking medication that may cause skin sensitivity - such as steroids. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist.

Featured Customer Reviews: Works well for me Reviewer: Fage Vizares from Australia, Melbourne 2007-10-15 I purchased th Onetouch system after reading all positive and negative reviews. It is working fine for me, however I would suggest you test the what setting is right for you, on different parts of your body. Its obvious that if the setting is too high for your skin type or if you leave the needle in too long you will cook your skin and in turn scar. Its an excellent value, but you will need to get some practice. Most hair should dissapear after 3 sessions. I suggest to use an antiseptic cream after treatment, to help the skin heal quicker. skeptical, but trusted reviews and am so happy Reviewer: Jenny 2007-10-15 I had real electrolysis performed once. This is after having laser hair treatments that work, but are NOT permanent and are very expensive! I saw the amazing results of electrolysis, but did not want to go back for embarassing treatments and spend the money as well. I tried one touch, and although it does take some getting used to, it really does work and I have been absolutely hair free in the areas i treated. It can hurt, depending on where you use it and also how accurate you are with the stylet, but it is pretty easy to get the hang of and understand what a successfully treated hair follicle looks like. It can cause pitting or burning of the skin, but from what I can tell the pits turn into tiny scabs and will heal with some calomine lotion or antibacterial cream. I definitely recommend this product and am pretty amazed that such a simple, inexpensive contraption really works! Better than expected! Reviewer: Shannon Sun May 01 2005 The one touch has has been easier to use than expected. Results have also been fabulous. Although some irritation results, areas treated the very first time of use are still clear after 1 month. Its the perfect product for me. Professional results at home!! Reviewer: Debbie Fri Apr 29 2005 Great product. Does what it says it will do. I read all the reviews and instructions prior to first use, which really helped. You can tell when you have hit the hair follicle, because you will see a small amount of discharge from the follice when the tip is inserted. Good light and a magnifying mirror are definately a plus. Just be patient; like anything else that you have never tried, it takes practice. No more painful than professional electolysis, but MUCH cheaper. If you are thinking of buying this product, go for it! If you don't like it your not out a lot of money. Good Luck! Be careful Reviewer: k from Canada Mon Mar 28 2005 You can do permanent damage to your face with this product. Positive results are extremely difficult to achieve since it's hit or miss to actually contact the folicle root with this device, probably through no fault of the machine itself, just by nature of the task at hand. Sticking a tiny needle into the right pore is not easy. Applying the needle on the lowest power setting, into a pore for about 15 seconds resulted in a deep pitting scar on my face that will hopefully go away after time. It has been about two weeks already. I've decided to save up my money and consult a professional. You probably know deep inside that you should too. Great product, but be careful Reviewer: Carrie Rosado from Texas Wed Mar 23 2005 I gave this 4 out of 5 stars because it is imperative that you be very careful while using this product. The first time I used it, I had the dial set at 1, and still burned my face, which has scarred now. DO NOT insert the tip at an angle, but go straight down with it. The tip actually went just under my skin and made blisters. I did try again, though, with great results. The product works very well, after learning what I did wrong. With proper use, there is a minimum ammount of pain and no hint that anything was ever done except hairless skin. Just be sure to have a magnified mirror and really good light so that you don't have to "search" for the pore and burn the skin around it. I would recommend this product, just warn to use caution. Love it! Reviewer: Sherry from Seattle Wed Mar 23 2005 A couple of months ago I spent 100 bucks on Finally Free, and could never get the thing to work. So I went back to this dependable little one which I have used before. Only problem is that you have to have a LOT of patience because it is very slow progress, at one hair at a time. Hair cycle is such that a new and different batch of hairs show up 2 or 3 times again. But this happens with any permanent hair removal program. To get completely done took me nearly a year. (Could have been faster if I was doing it regularly) I was so embarrased about my bikini line though, that it was absolutely worth it and the results are real. I will finally wear a bikini now! THE BEST! One Touch Hair Removal Reviewer: Lissette Very pleased with the product, I have been using it for a couple of years and the only thing that I find negative about the product is that it doesn't last that much, but then again is better than spending money everytime you do it with a professional.... One Touch Hair Removal Reviewer: Gail Thu Mar 10 2005 Very pleased with the product when it worked. Does just what it is supposed to. My only concern is the product is not durable. It does not last a reasonable amount of time before it fails to work. There is no other alternative product for a consumer unless you want to invest in a professional machine. Electrolysis (permanent hair removal) Reviewer: Jackie from WI Fri Feb 25 2005 Product is very good. If you are thinking about this for a large amount of hair removal I wouldn't recommend it. However, works wonderfully for small amounts. Just remember to read the directions...very important! One Touch Hair Removal Electrolysis Reviewer: Irene Sat Feb 19 2005 This is the only product that I have used that permanently removed unwanted hair. Very happy with the purchase and the service received from this web site. Product arrived in a timely matter and with no problems. The product is reasonably priced. Would highly recommend it. careful with the tip! Reviewer: anna from texas Fri Feb 11 2005 i am pleased with this product over all but i am unhappy with the fact that one of my tips (you get two with the order) bent before i even got to use it! carful when putting together. i used this for hair on my chin....they haven't grown back so i would recomend this if your looking to remove a few hairs for good. I love it as much as I did before! Reviewer: Wendy B. from Northeast Tue Jan 25 2005 I had one of these a few years, and bought another one when wires finally broke by battery connections. I use it to remove hairs in pimples and inflamed spots, as it easily "boils out" the infection at the same time without pain or damage to tissue. Amazing product, awesome price for the help it does for me! update on my previous review Reviewer: Sue Sun Jan 09 2005 I reviewed this a few weeks ago after using it one time. I was pleased and just wanted to update my experience after using it these past few weeks. I have been using setting #6 for hairs on my chin and #3 for fine upper lip hairs. I love it. I was able to cancel my electrolysis appointment last week and won't be going back for 2 more weeks. This is perfect for extending the timeframe between visits. None of the hairs I have treated have come back and the pain is very tolerable. I do get more swelling than when its done professionally and sometimes I even get scabs. But they go away after a couple of days and I have not had any scaring. I highly recommend this product as it does what it says it will do. My advice is to follow the directions and don't treat too many hairs at one time. I tend to overdo everything and the day I did that, I was very swollen and red and it took about 4 days for it to disappear. If you are thinking about purchasing it, DO IT! If you don't like it, you have not wasted alot of money as its very inexpensive. very good product Reviewer: Dave from Belgium Wed Jan 05 2005 After a lot of hesitation I finally decided to order the product. At first I was a bit scared when I read a few reviews pointing out the pain it will cause, but.... I tested it today and I only felt a minor tingling. It was great, no pain! If I had knew this before I would have bought it a lot sooner. Don't know if the hairs will grow back but I'm very pleased for the moment Greetz from Belgium So far, so good Reviewer: Sue Sun Dec 26 2004 I get professional electrolysis done about every 3 weeks for some coarse chin hairs and fine upper lip hairs. I have had good results, but had been reading reviews of various home electrolysis devices. I wanted something inexpensive that would work between visits, when I had a stray hair or two pop up. What I had been doing, is using cuticle scissors to cut them down between visits, as an electrolysists will tell you not to pluck them because it makes them harder for them to remove them permanently. I plucked them for years before finally taking the plunge to get electrolysis and she said I would have had much quicker results if I had not plucked them. I finally purchased the One Touch and just used it this morning. I zapped 2 thin hairs from my chin and a few thin ones on my upper lip. I also tried a few bikini line hairs. I used # 3 setting. It did work and was not too difficult to use. It took me some time to get used to it, but it did remove the hairs and was not very painful. However, I don't experinece alot of pain during professional electrolysis except for the hairs by my nose (OUCH!). I have some swelling now on my upper lip, but I get that when I have it done by my electrolysist. My thought right now is that this is perfect for between visits or for people that just have a few hairs to remove. I don't think it would be possible to use this for a large area like legs and I doubt I will ever devote enough time to get my bikini line, but so far I am pleased. The only negative I can think of right now is that it does seem cheaply made. But for $30 I guess that is to be expected. I don't think someone who has never had it done professionally would have alot of luck with it. I think it might seem painful to them and it is hard to sit there and count SLOWLY to 15. Its also very important to read the directions and start with a low setting. As I said, I only kept it on #3. If the swelling and redness go down quickly, I will crank it up to #5 next time. Thanks for all the people who reviewed this previously!! It helped to make my decision about whether or not to purchase this much easier!! As promised, but not easy Reviewer: Audrey from New York Mon Dec 13 2004 This product absolutely does what it says it will. It is difficult though. If you are desparate to remove a few hairs then I highly recommend it. It is very tedious, however, and very easy to over-do it. After my first experience it took 2 weeks for the areas I treated to heal. I would recommend using the lowest setting even for someone with coarse hair. take a painkiller and get to it! Reviewer: Erin from Massachusetts Wed Nov 10 2004 This is a pretty user-friendly, economical way to permanently remove hair. It is time consuming, but it is cheap and you can do it whenever you want, in complete privacy. Electrolysis with a probe that sends current down the hair shaft (as opposed to tweezers) is the only method proven to work, so this is it. Advice: Prepare for the pain and local irritation. Take a painkiller beforehand, an ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory if you can tolerate them, and it also wouldn't hurt to prepare the area with a topical anesthetic. (Each electrolysis feels like a super-vicious mosquito is biting you. Not fun. The needle is not painful at all, it is the current that stings, and I had it on a setting of 2 or 3.) Then follow the package directions. Afterward, apply a light film of antibiotic ointment. You might have irritated skin (raised red bumps, similar to mosquito bites) for some time afterward, so it's probably not something you'd want to do before a night out. This could obviously take weeks or years, depending on how large an area you want to have hair-free and how much time you have to invest in it. You have to wait for the hair cycles to make sure you have electrocuted all of them. The woman whose review said she had it for 15 years -- I don't see a problem with that. I have lots of things lying around the house which I only use from time to time. All in all, I'd recommend this product. Read all customer reviews ... |
