I wouldn't recommend it!

My hair is wavy and curly but this product isn't any better than a CHI iron. In fact, it made my hair look drier and alittle more frizzy, even with hair products. Furthermore, the blue steam release button doesn't work properly. I definitely wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I was fooled by the infomercial.:(

If you are planning to buy the maxiglide: I shall now tell you your future:
The maxiglide will seem bulky.
The maxiglide will seem heavy.
The "advanced steamburst technology" will just add frizz.
The water from the steam will leak A LOT.
Your maxiglide will emit a VERY AWFUL burning plastic smell.
Your maxiglide will quit working after 5 months.
You will waste your money.
MY maxiglide did all of the above. Except on top of that, it melted shut 5 months after I bought it!! I read a review here where somebody said that the manufacturers claimed that they have never heard of that happening before. DONT beleive that, I have met other people online who said their maxiglide melted shut, too; as did mine. This thing is such a ripoff.
I tried to get sent a new maxiglide because I thought it was under warranty but apparently it's not. So if you're looking to waste your money, don't even bother with the maxiglide. Might as well flush 90 bucks down the toilet.

I am african american with african american, that should give you an ideal as to what I am dealing with. I watched the infomercial and decided to try the maxiglide. I was amazed and glad it took my non chemically processed hair and made it bone straight. only it still took me over an hour to do my hair which is better then the 2 it usually took. So in the beginning.....I was happy. Fast forward to six-7 months later. Noticed my hair was extreemly damaged those little teeth are great if you do not have afro hair, if you have afro hair, you will slowly rip you hair to shreads. The ends of my hair we ruthlessly split. Result: Major hair cut and in my angst I went into a protective hair style for a while. When I came back to my maxi glide which mind you is just over 2 years old and really only had been used about for 6 months it died. I think that was a sign for me to try another flat iron. I see great reviews for the Sedu so that is whatI have purchased. I recommend this is probably good, i really liked the steam feature. But I NEED a great flat iron. I say to African american women with very kinky hair the love affair with the maxiglide will be brief and dissapointing in the end.
NEGATIVE 5 STARS IS MY RATING! THIS THING IS AWFUL! WORST HAIR EXPERIENCE EVER! PLEASE READ!

OK I bought this maxiglide 2 months ago because I was so WOWed by the infomercial. I started to use it on a section of my hair but it would not get straight! So I ran it through that section again and it STILL would not get straight. So then I slloowwwlly ran it through my hair for one minute. Then I could not get it out! I was pulling at it and trying to unclasp it from my hair but then my hair started to burn and there was a sizzling sound. The maxiglide started to MELT INTO MY HAIR!! I started to scream and then I unplugged it.
I was trying hard to pull it out of my hair but it had melted into my hair! I started to cry as I realized it was stuck. The plastic hardened and then I had the stupid maxiglide hanging from my hair. Eventually the maxiglide pulled out all of the hair that was in that section and now thanks to this AWFUL CRAPPY THING I have a bald spot in my head! I was SO ANGRY!

I have super curly hair and have always wanted straight hair.I had seen the infomercial on this propduct many times and decided to buy it. I have had it for almost 2 years and it has worked wonders on my hair. I noticed it wasnt going to last very long when it began to make this burning smell. The light indicating when the maxi glide is ready also stopped working. Now it no longer works at all! Both plates stopped heating! This hair straightener works really good but doesnt last very long. :( Althogh it stopped working, i do recommend it because it got my tight curls pin straight. I am probably going to buy another one, thats how much i liked it!

My best friend got this straightener for her birthday and after we played around with it and our hair came out GREAT every time, i thought i HAD to get it!
Once i convinced my mother, i used it all the time on all my friend's hair... even my friend who had tight curls, it went through her hair and came out smooth as glass and pin straight! I was in love... untill one day the straightner came to it's untimely death. I plugged it in for only 15 minutes then decided not to do my hair that day. I unplugged it, went to class, and when i came back 3 hours later, it was deformed and melted out of shape! It had cooled after melting and would no longer close. The light turned on but it didn't get hot at all... I sent it back to the manifacture and they said they had never heard of this happening before! I guess it was a freak straightener. I would have said it was great before this, probably one of the best i've had... but not so much anymore. (as you can see in the photo, it's not supposed to look like that...) Hope yours is better!

This iron is the best ever. It is a bit bulky... but once you get the hang of it... wait for the miracle to happen!!!
It straightens your hair out in seconds! But don't do it more than 2x a week, b/c it can damage your hair, just like all heating products.
Have fun!
Too bulky and heavy and just plain AWKWARRRD

This maxiglide works okay but here are the problems!
1. It seems bulky
2. Its heavy and made my arm sore
3. It feels awkward to use; I kept dropping it.
4. It takes so long to do my whole head.
5. The water leaked on to my maxiglide while I was using it and the thing was steaming for 10 minutes.
6. It stinks SOO BAD
AWFUL!

The maxiglide is an awful hairstraightner. I watched the infomercials and I thought it would be a great product. I ended up buying it, and it turned out to be very bad. The tiny combs on the straightner pulled out my hair, and left my hair frizzy. The worst part was that the maxiglide gave a very weird odor as it was heating up, and it would give me a headache. The odor was sometimes even left on your hair. I would MOST DEFINATELY recommend the CHI instead. Don't buy this product.

Fooled Twice...

I purchased this straightener, tried it twice and returned a few days later. This product is nothing of what it says it is. My hair is normal and healthy, wavy to curly. This product is HORRIBLE! First, it wasn't hot enough, I had to go over and over and over the same section three to four times. It usually takes me 20 minutes to straighten my hair, with this straightener it took me 35 minutes. The iron pulled my hair because of the small teeth on the top plate; their built on the plate, so you don’t have the option to take them out. When you use the steam feature, it's even worse! The steam is moisture being put back in your hair...we all know what humidity does to our hair. Anyway, to top it off, I think I purchased this straightener twice. The first time it was from the store a couple of years ago. I had the same problems so I returned it. The second time I bought it online a couple of months ago and lost the original money for shipping and when I returned it I had to pay for shipping again. It was the worst experience I've ever had with a hair straightener. Expensive doesn't always mean better quality!!!

I have really curly frizzy hair and I was tired of trying and failing at blow drying it myself. So I saw an infomercial on tv and thought omg this is it this is for me. I bought and sadly I can say its okay. I think this product is better for people with wavey hair and not curly or coarse like mine. I litterally blow dry my hair and flat iron it then to wake up in the morning to have to do touch ups. And I live in FL which is extremly humid and my hair doesnt last not even 10 minutes outside without my bangs going curly on me. I mean I cant knock it its a great product but its not worth the price or all the hype. I seriously wish I could get refund and buy the CHI instead or a Maxiglide. Hope it helps.

Wonder Straightener

This brush is 100 times better than a traditional flat iron. I had a flat iron that cost over $100 that doesn't come close to the job the MaxiGlide does. It takes a little practice to master the technique, but within a few minutes you'll be straightening like a pro, So don't give up. And the styles lasts better too, because of the steam. Compare it to dry ironing a blouse to steam ironing a blouse. I realize that anyone under 50 probably won't understand that analogy, but trust me - this straightener is the best I have ever seen.
Stick with what you have.

Missing her Chi

Honestly, I should have just bought another Chi. I am MUCH happier with my professional Chi iron. I received a combo package of Max's shampoo, conditioner, miniglide and maxiglide. It's a shame every single one of these products was horrible. The shampoo made my baby-fine hair coarse feeling, and the conditioner did pretty much nothing for it. The miniglide was horrible when I tried it on a shorter part of my styled hair. It left it frizzy and dry. The maxiglide itself? Horrible. The smell it emits is terrible when in use and it stays with your hair all day. I'd also like to note that my thin hair feels better when in use with my Chi iron as apposed to this monstrosity.
Like many have said, it's heavy, takes FOREVER to straighten hair (even shoulder length AND slightly wavy hair like mine), and requires a lot more maintenance to keep this product even semi working. It's a real let down.
I really wouldn't recommend this product, especially if you have fine hair. I think better results tend to occur for women who tend to have thick curly hair, or women who just aren't used to having their hair straight at least somewhat decently.
