Customer Image 1:

I am Caucasian with naturally curly and extremely thick hair. All of my daughter's are mixed Caucasian and black. All of us absolutely love the Maxiglide right down to my 11 year old.
I have been a Maximus Maxiglde customer since the infomercial first came out. I am nothing but pleased with this product and I recommend it to any and everyone I see and talk to. I have told people about it at work. I have told people about it on the hair isle at my local Wal-Mart. I am totally excited by this product!! I am here on the site today to order my second one (and one for my daughters so I can have mine all to myself LOL).
My first one broke, but that was due to a careless teenager and no issues with the product itself.
I have read many of the reviews here and realized that when I first owned this product I had run across many of the problems (i.e. hair pulling, steam burst burning, frizz when it's all done) that have been described in other reviews. I can assure everyone that MOST of the problems with the Maxiglide derive from not learning to use it properly rather than product defect. I cannot stress how important it is to learn how to use the product and experiment with different methods.
If the combs are pulling on your hair there are two SPECIFIC reasons for it. Your hair is not completely detangled or you are holding it closed too hard. If you completely comb out your hair and keep any un-straightened hair that you are not working on tied back so it doesn't tangle up again and don't squeeze the Maxiglide completely closed then the pulling on your hair is very minimal. Besides, the teeth are what set this product apart from those over the counter straighteners! Those are just plain old irons that are flattening your hair, not truly straightening it.
With the burning issue, the ONLY way it burns you is if you do the steam burst while it is right next to your head. I have done it and it HURTS! The instructional video is very clear about having it 1-2 inches away from your head before releasing the steam. I use it sometimes with my hair only partially dry. I make sure to completely dry the roots, however, to avoid this burn issue as well. If used properly the burns will only happen if you accidentally put your fingers where they don’t belong.
The steam is also very important in helping with the frizz (which seems weird). I have tried using it without the steam and that's when I experience the frizz issues. The frizz issue will also happen if you don't make sure to steam all the way through to the end of each stroke. One other thing that can cause the frizz is doing too much hair at one time. You need to do small sections of hair. Larger ones will give you exactly that---frizz. The last trick is holding the Maxiglide at the end of each section for at least a few seconds. If you don’t, then I guarantee frizz will result.
I am sure there are some that will have an issue with what I have stated, but it is not fair to down a product for issues that very well may be human error. Try it! Experiment with it! Enjoy it!
Love it!

Believe it or not, this product actually works like they say it does. You can even go to bed with wet hair (and wake up with the biggest frizzy mess) and still straighten it as smooth as silk with very little effort in the morning.
This product is awesome!!!!

well on the site it had all the things saying how well it worked so i was really excited to get it. then when i got it, i hate it! it makes my hair all frizzy if you use the steamer. i hate it! i need a new striahgtener now. and it takes longer time to do my hair then my cheap straightener does. i put it on ten heat and still have to go over my hair about 3-4 times. its really annoying. and the mini glide one SUCKS too. dont buy it. !!!
Dont waste your $$$

This works amazingly on my thick, curly, dry hair. It makes it silky, smoothe and beautiful, I love it. The only real way the product could do something bad is using it improperly. I don't need to use the steam feature, so I choose not to, and it glides through my hair PERFECTLY after I comb through it with a sort of fine tooth comb. Anyone who has hard to straighten hair GET THIS PRODUCT. Don't mess with it too much or I see how it could break (don't try to go too fast, don't use the steam if you don't need it, don't try to adjust the temperature all the time), just use it like any other product. It's only a miracle product if you treat it correctly.
The MAXIglide is...... alright.

I've had the MAXIglide for a few months now, and I'm pretty much happy. I've used better straightners (CHI has to be the best). A few cons to it though. (1) It's super-heavy! But you do get used to it! (2)If you use the steam feature, the water leaks! (3) Many straightners can also curl your hair, this one can't. Only because it has ridges to FLIP your hair (not really into that).
Overall, it's a pretty good straightner! My hair is always straight, BUT doesn't always stay straight.
Good Luck!
Its a miracle!...

...Those were my thoughts when I used the MaxiGlide on the first section of hair. I think the Beyond Straight and The End that come with it are essential products for getting good results. My hair is all natural, 4b, "black folk" hair and the whole process was painless on setting 4. It's not bone straight (because I love my hair too much to risk damaging it), but it is very manageable and soft. The steam feature works nicely. The process does take time, though, and leaves hair looking a little dry. Definitely prefer it to the old fashioned hot comb, especially because you won't burn yourself, even doing it yourself. And I imagine blow drying couldn't be as easy.
I FELT SEXIER & SLIMMER INSTANTLY!

I just got my maxiglide today. I was skeptical at first because my hair has an old perm and is very thick and i didn't think this was going to work. I thought it would take forever to do and end up turning out badly. I started taking 1 section of hair at a time and using the maxiglide and i couldn't believe it. It was so easy!! I did 1/2 my head and showed my husband the before and after look. He was amazed! It takes alot to get a response out of men! I got so excited i finished the rest of my hair and to my surprise i actually looked like i lost 10 pounds and have never felt sexier. I used to blow out my hair years ago and stopped because it took too much time and caused damage. I always through my hair up in a scrunchie. Now, i can have that sexy look whenever i want and i have the maxiglide to thank! Thank you for inventing such a fabulous product!!! I will tell everyone!

I really liked the product until it turned into a safety hazard. It has interchangeable plates that slide on and off. I was doing my ten year olds hair and one of the plates slid off and burned her arm and it immediately blistered. I thought maybe I did not put the plate on right so when i checked it, it kept sliding off. It was defective. I returned it and because of the circumstance i was given a full refund. Now I am looking for a new straightener.

I want to share this true story to all who felt the same way as I have. From my teens to my adult life I felt guit depressed about my hair. I felt my hair wouldn't looked good unless I tamed it with ponytails, buns, braids or twists that gave me headachs after awhile. I wanted hair that complimented my personality and set it free,I am an hispanic with very thick long curly hair. I've had my share of flat irons to try to staighten the curl and nothing worked. I've spent so much money on flat irons that gave me a dry hair look, split ends, and frizzy hair, this made me feel that straight hair just isn't for me until I saw the advertisement of the Maxiglide on T.V. I thought why not if it doesn't work I'll return it. Now 34 years old confident and with fabulous straight hair that seems as if I was born with it. I love it! I've been using Maxiglide now for 2 years. What really surprised me is that what usually takes me 2 and half hours to iron only took me,GET THIS 30 minutes! WOW! My hair looked amazing and it looked healthy. People believe I have natrually straight hair. Yea Right! If they only knew. I would recommend this to all who feel you haven't found that flat iron for that stubborn curly hair that won't straighten. It is amazing! Sorry I couldn't provide a picture. However, I feel very strongly about this product. I wouldn't waste my time to tell you this if I didn't feel this strongly about it. Enjoy your straight hair and feel the difference with Maxiglide!

I can't remember when I bought mine - probably 2 or 3 years ago. It really did the trick for me. I found, however, the accompanying products for the hair seemed to help staighten my hair better, but seemed to dry it out more too. My hair is just mildly curly and wavy, but it makes my hair sleek and smooth. I recently started using it more regularly on my teenage son's hair and just this week the light continued to blink after 15-20 minutes and does not heat up anymore. It's a great tool, but it sure didn't last long! This seems to be a common complaint. I just wonder what makes it stop working! I unplug it after every use and never abuse it. Doesn't make sense.

I read the other people's review and for those of you who said it took you hours, I don't know what you're talking about. Both my sister and I are biracial and I have very curly, very long, thick hair (as does she). It takes me between 20 and 30 mintues to straighten my hair, which is nothing compared to the 2 hours of pain it takes with a blowd dryer and a regular flat iron. The trick is to do it after you have washed your hair and worn it for a day. Then your hair will not be too dry or too greasy. This is the only flat iron that has ever worked on me because it has those little combs. I love MAXIGLIDE!

Worst iron i have ever used!!! The pins pulled on hair and pulled it out. Did NOT straighten hair like it said it would...And it took forever to get a patch of hair straight; NOt to mention it is so heavy and bulky. What a waste of money. My Sedu iron is much better.
