Used for over 3yrs now

I have used this straightener for over 3yrs now. Today it stopped working. The only thing you have to watch out for with this product is the cord. If it gets tanglled up and twisted it might stop working. Other then that, it has worked great, I get compliments on my hair style all the time (straight with ends flipped). People think it takes me hours to do my hair in the morning but with this product it takes 10-15 minutes at the most and leaves my hair soft and beautiful. I am ordering another one as you are reading this to replace mine, I will take better care of the cord and hopefully it will last me longer then 3yrs this time! If you purchase, please enjoy, just take care of the thing!

This iron is amazing. my younger sister bought one, when she married and moved out, i couldnt live w out one so i got one too, my older sister borrowed it and it took 4ever for me to get it back.
this product is super! makes hair absolutely stunning, silky but not flat, which i cant stand. but it does dry ends after many many uses. but u cant find a product like that on a shelf of a local drug store. i definetely reccomend it. its not cheap but when u start using it, u wont regret the money u put into it!!!

ok I don't like the maxiglide. I think it is a piece of crap. First/ of all it takes a while to striaghten your hair. Second/ the little teeth hurt. Third/ it leaves dents in your hair. Four/ use it for a while it start to stink. I would not recommend this. Now instead of the maxiglide I'm getting a Solia.

I LOVE this straightener! It is by far the best one I have ever used. Sure, you can find cheaper ones, but don't bother. This one gets hot enough to straighten even my super curly hair, but it's steam feature will leave it smooth and healthy looking too. I've been straightening my hair for decades, and I am so glad that I found this one. You won't be sorry!
not as good as it sounds in ads

I bought the maxiglide straightener not even a year ago and already it has stopped working. I plug it in and nothing happens. While it was working I did have to go over my hair a few times before it was completely straight and my hair is pretty easy to straighten. I found that if you brushed the section of hair before you straightened it it wouldn't get caught in the combs. It left the ends of my hair dried out and broken. Also, it got heavy after a little bit. Although it did leave my hair shiny and soft, I felt like it was damaged.
love the stream

this is a high quality straightener and I love the steam function. I have coarse wavy hair and this never fails. My previous one lasted at least 3 years with regular use, but it failed when I took it internationally and had the voltage problem. I have tried the shampoo, product line but it is onlt ok and not worth buying.

DO NOT BUY

Do not buy this at all. The teeth make it very hard to pull out of your hair, the plates dont reach each other unless you press very hard on either side, it smells a million times worse than any other flat irons, rips your hair out, DOES burn you, and the water leaks out and bubbles when the button isnt pressed.
Ive had mine for a couple of years and after a while the paint on the plates chip and takes much longer to heat up.

Folica.com is a great place to shop. Customer service and shipping time is outstanding. I am very pleased with the Maxiglide that I ordered. The only minus is that the miniglide is not included but you get a free leather makeup bag along with your order.
OVERRATED!!!!!!!!

I purchased this product a little over a month ago with very hight hopes. It turns out I can not even get it to run through my hair unless I use the flatplate that comes with it. When I use the plate with the little teeth I feel like it's frying my hair & I cant get it to "GLIDE" through. I have naturally straight hair & just wanted it for the extra shine, not what I expected...
HATE IT!

Customer Image 1:

I am Caucasian with naturally curly and extremely thick hair. All of my daughter's are mixed Caucasian and black. All of us absolutely love the Maxiglide right down to my 11 year old.
I have been a Maximus Maxiglde customer since the infomercial first came out. I am nothing but pleased with this product and I recommend it to any and everyone I see and talk to. I have told people about it at work. I have told people about it on the hair isle at my local Wal-Mart. I am totally excited by this product!! I am here on the site today to order my second one (and one for my daughters so I can have mine all to myself LOL).
My first one broke, but that was due to a careless teenager and no issues with the product itself.
I have read many of the reviews here and realized that when I first owned this product I had run across many of the problems (i.e. hair pulling, steam burst burning, frizz when it's all done) that have been described in other reviews. I can assure everyone that MOST of the problems with the Maxiglide derive from not learning to use it properly rather than product defect. I cannot stress how important it is to learn how to use the product and experiment with different methods.
If the combs are pulling on your hair there are two SPECIFIC reasons for it. Your hair is not completely detangled or you are holding it closed too hard. If you completely comb out your hair and keep any un-straightened hair that you are not working on tied back so it doesn't tangle up again and don't squeeze the Maxiglide completely closed then the pulling on your hair is very minimal. Besides, the teeth are what set this product apart from those over the counter straighteners! Those are just plain old irons that are flattening your hair, not truly straightening it.
With the burning issue, the ONLY way it burns you is if you do the steam burst while it is right next to your head. I have done it and it HURTS! The instructional video is very clear about having it 1-2 inches away from your head before releasing the steam. I use it sometimes with my hair only partially dry. I make sure to completely dry the roots, however, to avoid this burn issue as well. If used properly the burns will only happen if you accidentally put your fingers where they don’t belong.
The steam is also very important in helping with the frizz (which seems weird). I have tried using it without the steam and that's when I experience the frizz issues. The frizz issue will also happen if you don't make sure to steam all the way through to the end of each stroke. One other thing that can cause the frizz is doing too much hair at one time. You need to do small sections of hair. Larger ones will give you exactly that---frizz. The last trick is holding the Maxiglide at the end of each section for at least a few seconds. If you don’t, then I guarantee frizz will result.
I am sure there are some that will have an issue with what I have stated, but it is not fair to down a product for issues that very well may be human error. Try it! Experiment with it! Enjoy it!
Love it!

Believe it or not, this product actually works like they say it does. You can even go to bed with wet hair (and wake up with the biggest frizzy mess) and still straighten it as smooth as silk with very little effort in the morning.
This product is awesome!!!!

well on the site it had all the things saying how well it worked so i was really excited to get it. then when i got it, i hate it! it makes my hair all frizzy if you use the steamer. i hate it! i need a new striahgtener now. and it takes longer time to do my hair then my cheap straightener does. i put it on ten heat and still have to go over my hair about 3-4 times. its really annoying. and the mini glide one SUCKS too. dont buy it. !!!

This works amazingly on my thick, curly, dry hair. It makes it silky, smoothe and beautiful, I love it. The only real way the product could do something bad is using it improperly. I don't need to use the steam feature, so I choose not to, and it glides through my hair PERFECTLY after I comb through it with a sort of fine tooth comb. Anyone who has hard to straighten hair GET THIS PRODUCT. Don't mess with it too much or I see how it could break (don't try to go too fast, don't use the steam if you don't need it, don't try to adjust the temperature all the time), just use it like any other product. It's only a miracle product if you treat it correctly.
The MAXIglide is...... alright.

I've had the MAXIglide for a few months now, and I'm pretty much happy. I've used better straightners (CHI has to be the best). A few cons to it though. (1) It's super-heavy! But you do get used to it! (2)If you use the steam feature, the water leaks! (3) Many straightners can also curl your hair, this one can't. Only because it has ridges to FLIP your hair (not really into that).
Overall, it's a pretty good straightner! My hair is always straight, BUT doesn't always stay straight.
Good Luck!
