Amazing

Works very well on my thick, coarse curly hair. I have ringlets that pretty much do their own thing if they are not straightened out. Plus, my hair is highlighted so it is a little damaged. The steam really gets the kinks out and smooths your hair. I have owned this for years and I love it. I just bought another to have as an extra to keep at my boyfriend's apartment.

I am of African Canadian decent...I bought Maxiglide about a year ago, I love it. This is the best hair straightener I have ever used. I bought another hair straightener before this one and it didn't work, but when a friend of mine told me about Maxiglide, I couldn't wait to try it.
My results were amazing! My hair is soft and shinny and straight, I love it.
I have read some of the other negative reviews and I think that maybe some of these people need to read the instructions. I agree that the light is a bit bright but so what, you don't even see it while you are using the straightener.
It is somewhat awkward and a bit heavy, but so are all the other straighteners out there. Once you have used it a few times you get more comfortable with it.
As far as the ceramic teeth pulling out your hair...comb it first! Part small sections of hair and don't hold it so tight. If you come to a knot, comb it out and start again. If you try to do large sections of hair at once, you are not going to get the same results and holding the appliance too tight will cause breakage. READ THE DIRECTIONS.
If you use the steam too close to your scalp, you will burn yourself, hot steam will burn you! Again READ THE DIRECTIONS!
Okay, it only lasts for three days? I'd say that three days is pretty good especially in the summer or if you are working out and sweating. Probably time to wash it anyways, and unfortunately if you want that straight hair...guess you're going to have to do it all over again. A little pain for pleasure.
Once again, I love this product and would highly recommend it. I did my friends hair and obviously it was much easier than doing my own. She loves it and plans to buy one for herself.
Sometimes when we buy things, we think we know how to use them, it seems pretty strait forward. But that is not always the case. If you read the directions you can avoid the majority of the problems that these other people have had, because most of them are addressed in the user guide.

I've had the maxiglide for about 3 years now. It works really good if I blow dry my hair straight before I straighten it. If I didn't blow dry it first, my hair would still be poofy. Lately, I've noticed that this straightener has made my hair look dry and the plates are sorta getting rusty that's why I'm gonna try the HAI Convertable. I recommend this product, but it won't last for years and years.
This is the BEST!

I have been straightening my hair for over 20 years every time I wash it. I bought this product february 2008, and I love it. It does wonders with my hair. I have curly hair and after I wash it, all I do is let it dry and then use this hair straightener. Love it, Love it. I am telling everybody I know about it and I encourage them to buy it.
It is so much easier now to get my hair straight.

I bought this and although my hair went from curly to almost straight and it was shiny, this flat iron really poofed my hair it looked horrble everytime. I had to blow dry, flatten, then wrap my hair to get it straight. I have naturally curly hair. Would not buy it. I just ordered a sedu so i will see how it works
Love it

My son seen the advertisment on tv late one night two years ago and purchased it for me...The maxiglide has been such a blessing, it works wonders for my hair which is very long and very thick. My only complaint is that the cord had gotten extremely twisted. Somehow the top part of the base has broken in half so now I'm looking to purchase another one, I knew I should have had a backup one.I would refer the maxiglide to anyone. It Is Great!!!!
Excellent but bulky.

I actually love the maxi glide. I have type 4c hair. Very thick, kinky, course and long. I've had the maxi glide for about 2 years now. I just started using the flat iron and I've found that it works better than the one with the teeth. VERY IMPORTANT: My hair gets extremely straight if I use a little bit of The End product and the Beyond straight together while my hair is wet. DON'T USE TOO MUCH THOUGH, just a dime size is enough of both products. Then I blow dry my hair, then flat iron. I can not use the steam feature AT ALL. I've tried it, never again. My hair is too course and kinky. When I'm finished straighting my hair I rub 1 drop of THE END product in the palm of my hands and put all over your hair. Then style.
I would not buy it

If you are just looking for a touch up and have perfect hair then go for it. If you have curly hair this will not help it does technically straighten my hair but it poofs it out so it looks like a big A. It sucks basically now I have to end up buying some other flat iron. save yourself the hassle. It also pulls ALOT of hair out.
Best ever

At first I didn't believe the Maxiglide would work but my mom bought it for me last christmas cause she knew I was struggling with my hair. It's very coarse and other straighteners were leaving my hair dry and damaged which caused it to break at the ends but this one actually worked. my hair is soft and straight from the root to end. My only complaint is that it breaks to easy. Mine broke about a week ago and all I did was take the plate off to clean it and it just snapped in half, no idea why either but I still think its worth getting another one.

I got a maxiglide for christmas, and I love it. It works just like promised, but you have to follow the instructions and use it correctly. You can not use it like a straight iorn or you will pull your hair out. A little gentle pressure is all it takes, do not squeeze it tightly shut.

This straightener is made for people with a tiny little curl or basically straight hair. If you actually have curly hair, DO NOT USE THIS!!! It makes your hair reallllllly crispy and crunchy...if i rub my hair together, i could hear it CRUNCH!!!! After the first month, the plates MELTED INTO MY HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought a chi instead, and it works alot better. This is a low class, cheapo, good for nothing straightener. Don't waste your money.
LOVE IT ~ lost mine at a resort ~ came home bought another one

I love my maxiglide so much! I seen it on tv late night on a shopping channel and was like yeah right. I already owned two other flat irons I bought a local beauty store that is nation wide. I have wavy hair and it makes it straight as a board. my daughter has extreamly curly shirley temple curles and it works great on both of us - my sister has even tried to take it. we went from Diana Ross hair to Lucy Li hair thanks for making such a great product. Just make sure to use distilled water in it. I was absolutly rough on it use it at least 5 days a week on three people and have had it for over a year. had to replace because I was a resort and was rushing to catch my flight - it was hot still and left it on the bathroom counter on accident I MISS IT SO MUCH - I went to a salon to buy one they only had the chi and wanted $200 and $47 for them to flatiron my hair one time. cant wait for it to come fedex.
4 months later......

I bought the maxiglide in october it is now febuary. I an very happy with it. It is one they my best investments ever!!! I can straighten my hair at night and wake up in the moring and go no touch up nessary. Also with my old straightener it would take about 5o minutes now it is a quick 20 minutes. The problems i have with it is it needs to be cleaned alot! Almost every time i use it. Some changes i have noticed with my hair is my hair is even more fizzy befor i strighten it than i was befor i bought the maxiglide. Also i was nevous about buying such an expensive striaghtener so i went to bed bath and beyond and used a 20% cupon to buy it. I did go for those value packs that came with beyond and the end products. Now I know why they are sold together. With out those products protecting your ends you will get horrible spilt ends like me. I always put heat protceting spray on my hair befor i do anything ot it but my ends still get ruined. All in all the maxi glide is a very good hair straightener but BUY THOSE VALUE PACTS!!!!!!!
It has been two years...and it is still kicking

My Maxiglide is still working after two years. The shine on the plates has worn off. It also takes longer to heat up then when I first got it in the mail. It also is a pain to clean. However, I think the steam is better for your hair than other flat irons. I owned a Chi and had awful split ends. With the Maxiglide, my hairdresser tells me how healthy my hair is. Before I straighten, I use Get it Pressed flat iron spray by Regis Design Line. I highly recommend it! It smells great and works wonders.

I have had no problems with this product. I love how it makes my hair smooth when finished. I never thought I would find something that worked on my hair.
Went to my hair stylist last week and found out that she has the same one and has been using it the entire time I have been seeing her. Now I can have hair just like when I leave the stylist. Yippy!
Worked really great!

I just purchased the Maxi-glide for me and my hair is wavy and color treated and for my daughter who has african american & white hair combined. So her hair is very curly and can get frizzy. She always is begging me to straighten her hair but I worry about chemicals and what hairdressers would do. I will have mine straightened for 2 hours and no less than 120 dollars. So i purchased this and it straightened my hair in 20 minutes and my 11 year old daughters long curly hair in 30 minutes. I added THE END product that came with it and her is beautiful. When I tell you her hair is curly I mean it, she has ringlets. I was skeptical also but not anymore. I will never spend that much money for myself on straigtening again. As for my daughter she is hooked and she loves the results. The iron is easy to use and no hassle at all, at least to me.
Everything they promise and more

I have super curly frizzy hair which is waist length. It usually takes me about 3 hours to blow my hair straight and then it's never quite right. The Maxiglide is a miracle. I achieved better results in just 15 minutes! It was recommended by a friend who shocked me when I saw her with her hair natural. The Maxiglide does such an amazing job I assumed her hair was straight. You must, however, follow the directions very carefully if you want the best results. But I can honestly say that any product that works on my kinky hair will work on just about anyone else. Forego 3 salon blowouts (average NYC price of $30) and you've more than made up the price of the Maxiglide.
The worst ever

the worst straightener I have ever bought, don't buy it, waste of money and of your time since you will be sending it back. It pulls your hair and damages it.
