Product Rating: 3 African-American 27 year old female
Reviewer: Aisha from New York, NY  Tue Mar 07 2006

I think the product works better than expect but my hair is dry naturally and if you let your hair get too dry after shampooing/conditioning, it will break and shed b/c the tiny combs are pulling through the hair.

My sister's hair is a bit silkier naturally and it wasn't breaking her hair as much. However she had a different problem. Its kinda like trying to curl your hair twice. After the straightening, it wouldn't hold a curl! The MaxiGlide purports to curl the hair itself but it doesn't do more than "bump" the ends.

Product Rating: 2 Too bulky - detangling pins don't work
Reviewer: Karen from NJ  Mon Mar 06 2006

This product is very heavy and bulky. I thought that the time it would take to straigten my hair would decrease because of the large plates. It actually took me longer to straighten my hair because of the awkward design and bulkiness. The first time I tried to use this product, I was excited about the "detangling pins". I have curly/wavy hair. My hair is not thick and not kinky, BUT I could not get the detangling pins through my hair. I was not even able to straighten one section with these detangling pins. I could not change the plates because the iron was too hot, so I used my other straightener. The next day, I switched the plates and tried again. This time, it worked better, but I was not impressed. I could not get the root of my hair. The "steam burst system" only worked when it was too close to my head (which hurts) and when I was near the tips of my hair, there was still water left in it, but it did not work. Well, now I am in the process of returning this item. Folica has a wonderful return policy, so I am exchanging this horrible product for a Solia straightener. My sister has a Solia and it is the best straightener I have used thus far. Do not waste your money on a maxiglide. This product is not worth more than $20.

Product Rating: 3 Pulls your hair out.
Reviewer: Kaitlyn   Mon Mar 06 2006

I was inlove with this straightener for the longest time. My hair looked so, so pretty after I had used this. So much better than my previous straightener. After a few months though, the ceramic coating comes off and you notice alot more breakage. My hair gets caught between the plates all the time. The products from Maxiglide still work wonders, but I'm seriously considering buying another straightener.

Product Rating: 2 A nightmare
Reviewer: cass   Sun Mar 05 2006

Please.. if you have thick curly course hair i do not recommend it. i owed the maxi glide but returned it. it was a nightmare it pulled and dried out my hair.it is only good for people with silk and soft texture. i recommend the chi. it is very good and leaves your hair soft and silky.

Product Rating: 4 Great! but too heavy
Reviewer: Anonymous from Austin, TX  Sun Mar 05 2006

The MaxiGlide is a great product! My hair is coarse and curly and it totally straightens it out and it feels really silky.

My only complaint is that it is TOO HEAVY! I try not to use it too often because of that. My right hand and thumb really get sore after I use it.

Product Rating: 3 It was okay but....
Reviewer: Mocha from Miami, Fl  Sat Mar 04 2006

I used the maxiglide and noticed that it does straighten my hair better than any flat iron I've ever used. My hair also felt very shiny and soft afterwards. One thing that I don't too much care for is the plate with the combs on it. It seems to pull my hair out. I'm still trying to figure out a way for this not to happen. So for that, I think the product is a little above average.

Reviewer: Karyn from Lakewood, OH  Fri Mar 03 2006

I have been using this product for over a year. I have thick wavy hair, and have always wanted straight hair and now I can have it. I think the maxius works great. It works quickly, easily and I really like that it combs and straightens at the same time. I think it's definitely one of the best hair straighteners on the market. Now for the bad...after about 3 months of use, one side of the iron broke-- The side with the water/steamer on it. I think somehow the water got into the wiring and burnt it out!!??? Anyway, for the past 9-10 months I have been using it with only one side heating up. It still works, I use it everyday, but it really sucks that an iron this expensive would break this easily. As for damage to my hair. I think that any hair straightener iron will cause drying and damage if used frequently. I have to really condition my hair on a regular basis and get frequent trims to reduce the damage and split ends. My hair dresser suggests not using it everyday, but I do anyway. I like this straightener so much that despite part of it breaking I am thinking of buying another one.

I am very happy with the maxi-glide straightener. I have medium coarse hair and this straightener makes it super super smooth and sleek. I love it.

Product Rating: 4 A real time saver!
Reviewer: Kathy from New York, NY  Fri Mar 03 2006

Okay here's the deal: I am a latina with very very curly hair that is below my shoulder in length. I perm it straight to get that perfectly straight look when i blow dry but blow drying takes a long time. With the maxiglide it takes me 15-20 minutes and it does get my hair very straight. However, its not as glossy and shiny but hey - in between salon visits and when i dont have time to blow dry and if i dont need my hair to be hollywood perfect (just clean and groomed), the maxiglide works great. The steam feature is surprising effective. Folica has the best price for it too and the delivery was super quick! No complaints.

Product Rating: 5 the best!
Reviewer: Kim from Hardwick, Vermont  Tue Feb 28 2006

I tried my sister's Maxiglide after trying to straighten my hair with my ceramic (very expensive) straightener. It took me half an hour to get my hair wavy with mine. Then I picked her's up and in 5 minutes my hair was the best EVER!!!! I was totally sold. My husband was so convinced he let me order one. The first Sunday I went to church after getting it 4 different people came up and complimented my hair, including my hair dresser!!!! I have a muscle disorder and it was SO hard for me to do my hair before. Now it is so easy and fast!!! Thank you!!

Product Rating: 5 REALLY WORKS
Reviewer: Jasmine from New York  Mon Feb 27 2006

I have thin curly hair, when I straighten my hair Im such a perfectionist, it has to be silky and shiny, so I would have to blow dry it then flat Iron it (which would take some time). I took my chances buyin the MAXIGLIDE..and seriously this is the best Flat iron I have ever owned and I have owned about 4 of them..EXPENSIVE ONES at that. They work great, but the maxiglide does both the job of blow drying and flat ironing, and leaves hair shiny and silky, and takes literally HALF the time. I TOTALLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!

Product Rating: 3 I'm not pleased

Reviewer: petrycya from mass.  Fri Feb 24 2006

i ordered mine of the home shopping network. i paid 100.00 plus i got the mini glide free. i am not happy with it at all. first of all its to heavy. second of all i dont like the idea you have to add water to it. it has burned my hair it doesnt do a good job getting out the frizz. my hair is a little past my shoulders and not that thick so it should of worked on it better. my sister tried it also. she said it was to heavy and she didnt like the way her hair came out. it is not worth the money .

Product Rating: 1 DOES NOT LAST!!!!
Reviewer: Ashley from Texas  Fri Feb 24 2006

I saw the informercial about 5 times and finally gave in and ordered it. I was sooo excited, I used it the minute i got it. It worked soooo well at first. My hair looked thinner (i have really thick, course hair) and shinier. Then after using it not even on a daily basis, less than 6 months, it worked no better than the cheap 15 dollar one I bought at Target!!! It would pull my hair and the pins would get stuck. It made my hair look sooo dry and damaged. It's very poorly made, and does NOT last. Maybe it works better if you have thinner hair, but for those of us with thick, course hair, I do NOT recommend this. If you do decide to buy one, use it for 6 months and then come back and let us know how well it works. IT IS A PIECE of JUNK!!!!

Product Rating: 1 DO NOT USE
Reviewer: alex from jersey  Fri Feb 24 2006

this straightner is extremly horrible .. my hair was damaged severly and i recommend to NOT use it anymore unless you want your hair to be extremley damaged. the little sharp blades pull out ALL your hair and as soon as i used it after a week .. my hair dresser had to fix the dead hair to make it look better
