I was sceptical since as far as i was concerned these products were for persons with almost straight hair.
Folica impressed me - got my shipment one day before the seven days they had predicted - I live in St. Lucia in the Caribbean.
The maxiglide works well- better than i thought - my hair is natural - has never been chemically treated . Now its soft and i have no complaints
Like the other reviews i must add- it gets heavy when you have to be at it a while - i have very thick and full hair.
used it once...it broke!!

I bought the maxiglide last friday and used it once and the next day it wouldn't heat up and I noticed that the plastic on the outside was warped and had melted. i took it back yesterday and bought a $40 tourmaline remington that seems to work WONDERFUL and reminds me of the one my stylist uses!! obviously the $80 is for the dvd and the case that comes with the iron because it's definitely not made well!!

I have really curly hair and followed the instructions to the tee. But if I even drop a bit of sweat my hair is curly again. So it is an okay product.

this is great and all the ppl that say it dont heat or it damages the hair it's probably that ur not using it the right way. i dont know why if its so simple... u turn the knob and put it on the temperature u want it and it leaves ur hair straight, soft, and with a healthy looking shine. and if it gets stuck in ur hair its because u haven't cleaned it ur hair is way damaged or u put too much stuff in ur hair.

This thing costed a pretty penny but did not provide proper results. I have thick curly hair. I was sucked in by the infomercial's salon results. However, despite following the directions and even using expensive products I still found myself back @ the salon. I was hopeful because girls with my hair texture were featured on tv, but I know something else was done to their hair. If not then I must have gotten one lemon of a product. You would do just as well(better price wise to go to your local beauty supply or drug store)!
My final ruling is that it sucked!!

I have had this straightener for about 6 monthes. First the steam stopped working then half the iron wouldnt heat up. It worked good at first but its really not worth the money... buy one of the better ones and spend a little extra it will be worth it.

This product works well on 4a or 4b hair. This product really straightens african american hair and because it has the detangling feature it works better than the chi iron at getting my hair straight. I have heard some people say the the machine broke within a few months but it has a year warrenty. The product works so well for me that if it did break I would buy another one.

OMG!!! when i recieved the maxiglide 3 months ago n started using it; i realized i SUX.Its the worst staightener:it pulls your hair,takes a long time to heat up,takes forever to straighten hair, leaves you with an unbelievable amount of split ends,and your hair looks dull and feels sooo dry!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY..BUY A SOLIA ITS MUCH BETTER!!

I have fine hair. This product, when used properly, straightens my hair quickly and easily.
I love the little combs that help to straighten the hair.
I had the Solia Tourmaline previously and had to work much harder to iron my hair.

I was so excited when I ordered this flat iron but when I got it was a complete disappointment. I spent over $100 on this product and I used it twice. The first time I used it, it kept getting stuck in my hair. It does not get hot enough to do the job. Keep your money and avoid buying the maxiglide!!!

This straightener is such a waste of money, honestly. There is nothing that makes it better than the $25 at walmart. It does striaghten the hair very nicely, but not $80 nicely. Also, I bought it in July and it just started blinking uncontrollably, and it wont heat up. Also, Maxiglide the company wont replace it :(, so dont buy this. A GREAT but cheap straightener is the white one by REvlon. Take my advice and save your eighty bucks

I am white with very fine VERY thick wavy hair. I am so pleased with this product. I have tried about 3 different straightening irons in the past... never with these results. I don't have a huge budget either, so my hair will usually be straight about twice a year from a trip to the salon ( wich still took about 2 hours ). To straighten my hair by mylesf before was about a 4 hour event. Blow dry, add de frizz, iron, brush blah blah over and over.
This iron does exactly what it promises in about 45 minutes. The next time I have my hair cut I'm taking it to show my stylist!! Wow, this is the end of all other irons out there! Thank you so much Mr. Maxi!!

hey well likei wanna say this is an AWSOME straightener but like it DAMAGES ur hair like alot so like ya but other wise its VERY GOOD!!!

Everytime I use it, I get perfectly straight hair.I love this product and went through my fair shares of hair straightners. Maxiglide steam burst makes my hair look shiny and feel silky.

The Maxiglide is heavy and takes forever to heat up. It doesn't even give me super straight hair. The more I use it the more my hair get dry and damage looking. The steam burst doesn't help either (more split ends). When six months reach the blue coating on the plate come off that's why results will not last. They don't tell you that on tv, but make everything look so easy. I expect better quality for such high price. Even my Conair Instant Heat Ultra Hot Ceramic Straightener work ten times better and just twenty dollars.

I have very curly hair. I am a retired cosmotologist. I have used everything to straighten my hair. I can not believe how great this product is! Its easy to use, fast and just the best! I cant say enough about it. Im very, very pleased. It almost makes me cry because I have wanted hair like this my whole life. Now I have it!

My cousin got one... it really pulls the hair a lot. (my hair anyway) i didnt like it, my hair was straight enough. And..your not supposed to push down with it because you might break it..$90 and its that fragile? its aslo reallly heave and big.

We're a Sicilian family. Me and my brother's hair has always been quite long, thick, and curly. I've always kept my hair curly and long because frankly, it looks good, and I take exceptional care of it, but my brother wanted his straight, since he really didnt put much effort into pampering his hair, and it normally came out in an afro. LONG CURLY HAIR TAKES ALOT OF WORK.
Anyway, I got it for him so he could e seen in public again, and what a difference, pin straight, and shiny. For anyone saying that after using it for so long that it loses its effectiveness, dries out your hair, splits your ends, pulls your hair out, etc. I believe that the problem lies hence-forth. YOU NEED TO DO THIS BEFORE USING IT
A. Shampoo & Deep condition,
B. Cocktail a silicon and oil based serum such as John Frieda's Extra strength hair serum with a good leave-in cream conditioner THAT PROTECTS FROM HEAT such as Nexxus Headress Volumizing Leave-In Conditioner and the straightening fruit gel that comes with the iron.
C. Thouroughly mix the cocktail through your palms and run it through the length of your hair, from root to end, and back, making sure to massage the scalp with a little bit as well.
D. COMB OUT THE HAIR WHILE BLOW DRYING(I reccommend a ceramic blow dryer to keep moisture in your hair) TO GET RID OF KNOTS!! NEWSFLASH - IF YOU HAVE KNOTS IN YOUR HAIR AND YOU DONT COMB THEM OUT BEFORE USING AN IRON WITH TEETH YOU WILL GET YOUR HAIR PULLED, DUUUHH!!
E. At this point in time, if your hair is thourouly dried NOW YOU CAN USE THE IRON!!
NOTE: If all of this is a bit too much for you to keep HEALTHY straight hair, I suggest leaving your hair the way it is!! Other than the prep work,the iron works great.

I bought this product for my 7 year old bi racial daughter who was upset that she couldn't wear her hair down because her hair is so curly and frizzy. She even had her hair hair straightened the old fashioned way with a hot comb on the stove and her hair frizzed up within a day. I used the maxi glide on her and within a half hour she had beautifully straight hair. The next morning alls I had to do was give her a quick touch up. I strongly recommend this product.

The very first time I used the Maxiglide, I used it on a setting of 3. It worked nicely and was very straight. But, it still wasn't very soft or shiny when I finished. However, every time I used it after that, my hair seemed fuzzy and was dry and hard to brush through. I tried increasing the temp setting, but the result was the same: straight fuzz. I even started adding a serum to my hair before using the iron and nothing helped.
Well, tonight I replaced the comb plate w/ the flat plate and set it to #8 on the temp. It made a HUGE difference. My hair turned out soft and shiny for the first time. I'll con't to use it this way for the next few wks and see if it con't to give me these results. If so, then I'll be much more pleased.
So, basically, I like the straightener w/ the flat plate, NOT the comb plate.
