I Love it!

I actually stole this flat iron from my little sister, after using it for the first time. I have very dry and wire like hair, so nothing could get my hair to look great after 2 hours in the Florida weather. But this iron worked wonders for me. I use to get up at about 4:30 in the morning to straighten my hair, now it only takes me 45 mins compared to 2 1/5 hours. Yes, it is a little poorly made and it went out on me after about 6 months but every iron is going to go out on you eventually.
I am a national title holder and I love this flat iron. I take it with me everywhere I go and I don't think I could ever use another.

Many probably are pursuaded to buy this item because of those infomercials on TV that just look so convincing but don't waist your time on it. The Maxiglide is a huge heavy clunky item that tugs at your hair. I bought my set from the maxiglide site and it was horrible. The maxiglide I got looked used and parts of it were burned. The miniglide is useless, it doesn't get hot enough to do anything. I had to return everything for a refund. A brush and regular hair straitener might just be better.
Works great

I have fine blonde hair and live in Colorado, so my hair gets very dry. I like the Maxiglide because the teeth help straighten my hair. I do not have to turn the hot iron on as high as others I've used and I only have to go over each section once, which means less heat damage for my hair. The steam option is nice for the areas of my hair that are particularly dry.
Do Not Buy It

I had received a maxiglide for christmas in 2005. At first, it worked great. But in about 4 months I noticed it gradually took longer to heat up and I wasn't getting great results. It took me 5 hours for it to finish heating up yesterday. I have bought a chi and it has worked wonderful for me. In my opinion I would suggest you not to waste your money on this I beleive there are better ones.
Excellent at straightening hair but cheeply made

The maxi glide is a great straightener. It saves time and makes my hair look perfect! Then after about 9 months the temperature setting spinner broke, it would not heat up all the way anymore, and the steam burst button would not work properly! Now I'm exchanging it for a new one because I'm still am happy with how it works for the limited time.
Try an alternative

I recieved this flat iron as a Christmas gift in 2005 in replace of my Hot Tools Ceramic which completely damaged my hair in the first place. My friend had it and it always made her hair look beautiful. When i began to use it I saw great results of my very straight hair. As time went on, i began to see the flaws in the product. Like most flat irons, this damaged my hair a lot because the steam is harmful to your hair; it is like straightening it wet which is a big no no in hair. Everyday someone would come up to me asking me, "Did you get a haircut? Youre hair looks shorter." When i hadn't gotten one, I began to wonder... is this thing shrinking my hair? I am still unsure if that was the cause. I got a haircut as I do about every 6 weeks and most of the damage is gone although some remains. If you are going to use this product, use the flat plate instead of the one that supposidly "brushes" the hair. I found that it ripped out my hair and almost oxidized it.Overall, I think that you should try an alternative product, although my friend uses it everyday, as do I, and her hair is beautiful and healthy.
love it... the only problem is..

When changing the plates one got stuck half way and that is why I have to purchase a new. Other then at issue this is a remarkable straightener. It saves time..
It works for all kinds of black hair

I disagree with Bettie from Alabama who wrote that the company misrepresented its ability "to straighten black hair by featuring black models who have non-black textured hair." There is no such thing as non-black textured hair on black people. Millions of blacks (and black Africans) have hair that ranges in texture from nappy to loosely curled. Kinky is not the only texture to black hair and never has been, and this product works for all of them.
not worth the money

I bought a Maxiglide for $80 after watching a very convincing infomercial. I have had several flat irons and, at first, the Maxiglide worked wonderfully. It straightened my hair exactly as it should. In just a few months it was taking longer and longer to heat up and working less and less. The temperature was very unstable - sometimes it wasn't hot enough and one time it actually burned some of my hair off and I never changed the temperature setting. It was very unpredictible. After a year it completely stopped heating up. I used it from 2-4 times weekly. I recently bought a Sedu for $120 and so far, I recommend it over the Maxiglide. It's faster and doesn't leave my hair with a burnt smell.

I love my maxiglide. I bought the package (including the miniglide, the end, & beyond straight) from maxxius for $120 and it's worth every penny. The thing that makes it different from other straightners is that it makes wonderful flips on the tips of your hair;very stylish. Also, unlike other straightners, you can get it kind of close to the roots and not worry that it'll burn your scalp, because it's protected from heat on the outside; SORT OF. Overall, wonderful product.
too much hype

I have owned 2 of these and have loved both of them!!! I can understand how it could damage your hair if you have the heat set too high, or have not detangled your hair before you run the maxiglide thru it but otherwise, it is all that it's advertised to be and I love it!!! I have natural (unprocessed) bi-racial hair. My hair is very thick and has a kind of kinky texture to it, although it is not a tight kink. The maxiglide has worked like no other flat iron for me and straightend out my hair beautifully. I do not over use the maxiglide and do not shampoo but 2 times a week. I deep condition my hair with a really good conditioner with a heat cap once a month and always use some leave in conditioner like products on my hair as I let my hair air dry overnight before using the product in the morning. With using the maxiglide like this I do not experience the damage that others have complained of and do not get it tangled or anything. It did take a bit to get used to the weight of the it, but it really isn't all that heavy and you don't have to squeeze it all that hard if you aren't trying to put too much hair in it at one time. It does take me about 45 mins to get thru my whole head of hair but it's worth every minute of it!!! The results are fantastic. Also, I haven't had any problems with melting my hair or the iron melting, etc. so I don't know what happened to the other peoples units, but both of mine have been fine. The only reason I have 2 of these was because I wanted a back up incase the first one died on me....I never want to be without my maxiglide and sometimes I even take it to work on exceptionally humid days in case I need a touch up!!! I have turned 2 ladies ladies at work on to the maxiglide and they both love theirs too! So my advise is get it, use it correctly and you will love yours too!
I've been waiting for a product like this!!

I have had a maxiglide for a year now. I use it at least once a week. I love my maxiglide so much that I have recommended it to all my friends with curly hair. I have even demonstrated it on thier hair for them to believe me. I would not use any other straightening product because it is not harsh on my hair and I don't have to use any more chemicals, to get my hair straightened.

The first time I got it, it worked perfectly and cut the time I spent straightening it with other brands. The results were obvious and I got praises fm my coworkers. The flip in the end is a winner. But as 3mos went by it took longer and longer to work and the results got so-so.
I still love it though and I'd still buy it just to get a straight hair.
Maxiglide recommended to anyone who wants a professional look done at home.

MY HAIR IS SO THICK AND FRIZZY AND AFTER USING MAXIGLIDE AS IF I DO NOT HAVE A FRIZZY THICK HAIR.... SINCE THEN I USED IT EVERYDAY AFTER TAKING A SHOWER... I JUST WASH MY HAIR WAIT FOR IT TO HAIR DRY AND USE MY MAXIGLIDE HAIR STRAIGHTENER, 20 MINUTES AND READY TO GO. IT’S WORTH EVERY PENNY. BUY IT YOU WON’T REGRET IT!

Love it but dissapointed!!!!

I bought my maxiglide 6 months ago. At first it was wonderful I loved the teeth and how it helped straighten my hair....then it started to burn and pull out my hair. I had to go to the beautyshop and get 2 inches cut off my hair. It may not see much to some people but it was a lot for me. I continued to use it but not at such a high temp and held it with a lot less force. It worked great for me. All of a sudden it started blinking in the middle of doing my hair and it would stop. Then the steam burst stopped working and now it won't straighten my hair at all. I am dissapointed because of after using it for 6 months it stopped working. The 90.00 was not worth it. I have had a gold and hot straightner for 10 years almost and it still works as good as when I first bought it and I only paid 20.00 for it. My suggestion is try to find something cheaper that gives you better results. I am not saying that this is not a great product, because it is I loved it. You just have to find the right temp. to use on your particular hair.... but if you can only get 6 months worth out of it then the 90.00 is too much.
