I first saw the maxi-glide on T.V., thinking Ohmigod, this is going to work. My mother says it wasn't going to work, boy did I prove her wrong! My revlon straightner takes forever! The maxi- Glide cut my time down so much! More than half!! I used to never staighten my hair with my revlon one, maybe two or three times a month. I straighten my hair 2 or three times a week with this thing? Why not everyday you ask? I don't need to! I don't even need to straighten it 2 times a week! I totally recommend the maxiglide! Best product ever! It did not pull my hair out or melt. I have shoulder-length thick wave/curly brown hair. Now it is straight straight straight! Totally not a waste of money! You should seriously buy this!

I'm biracial and my hair is very hard to manage. this straightener worked very very good. It lasted me about a year and it still works great but the smell of burning hair kind of got old so i just purchased and Solia and i hope it works as good if not better.

Product Rating: 3 Melts
Reviewer: Kadi from Delaware  Wed Aug 09 2006

This is a very good product for the first maybe..5 months. But after a while, the steamburst chamber overheats...and the Iron WILL melt, or the side of the iron with the steam will not work...I took extremely good care of my iron, but the steamburst side still burnt out...I've bought it 2 times and the same thing has happened. I don't reccomend this product because you're investing a good amount of money into it...and it won't last you the maximum time you'd expect

i have been reading these comments about not working for curly and thick hair, i am polynesian and we are known for our long THICK, CURLY hair. and this product is awesome. i have had it for maybe two years now, and it is still in great condition. you know products do last if you take care of it properly. it's an awesome product. i recomend it to anyone who wants straight hair.

Product Rating: 5 I love this thing!

1. If you are using any type of heat styling tool on your hair once a week without properly caring for your hair, it WILL fall out. This is common sense.

2. Don't put too much hair in flat iron or your hair will not get straight.

3. Do NOT squeeze the flat iron onto your hair or the pins will pull your hair out. This, again, is common sense and both the infomercial and the DVD tell you not to do this.

I have had this flat iron since Dec '04 and haven't had a single problem with it and I have very thick, curly hair nearly to my waist. It doesn't take as long to flat iron my hair anymore and my hair doesn't stink when I use it.

Product Rating: 4 Excellent straightner BUT not long lasting
Reviewer: Shannon K. from Colonial Heights, VA  Sun Aug 06 2006

I really think that this excellent at straightning wavy (curly), frizzy, coarse hair. It even was great in reference to helping my hair stay straight even through humidity. However, I no longer use the MAXIglide because it broke! I'm not exactly sure how long I used it, but I know that it was less than a year, probably like 4-5 months. On the side where the steam comes out it has stopped heating up and the light constantly blinks. It does have a year manufactury warranty but you have to keep the label of authencity and I didnt think I would need it so I threw it away when I got it. I just ordered a Solia, so I am hoping that it meets or exceeds the MAXIglide.

Product Rating: 3 2nd Maxiglide Broke Again
Reviewer: Jackie from Doylestown, PA  Wed Aug 02 2006

The first one was replaced under warranty, so I don't think they will replace the replacement. The light flashes but it doesn't heat up. It was the same problem with the last one. This one lasted a year. The pins do pull out your hair and it doesn't get your hair silky straight. I bought it after my CHI broke. I thought it was less damaging, but I bought another CHI to straighten after I used the maxiglide. The steam is more like a relaxer before you straighten. The mini doesn't work at all. This time I will not get another one, and an going to try the solia.

Product Rating: 2 Not great in the long run

I heard about the maxiglide from my friends who suggested it to me . . . and once I saw the commercial, I was absolutely convinced. Yes, it straightens WONDERFULLY, for about a week or two. I was absolutely ecstatic with it, I loved it. But then a couple weeks after I got it, I noticed that it was losing its performance level and leaving my hair only satisfactory-looking. After about 3 months it became completely useless . . . the light would come on but no heat. My Father checked it out and discovered that it was melting from the inside. This happens from the excessive heat, I understand, but if I don't put it on the highest heat setting, it is useless for me, and my hair isn't even than curly or frizzy to begin with. I've read in other reviews that it pulls hair out - that hasn't happened to me. But after two to four months, this straightener will become useless to you. I'd suggest the Sedu, which is much MUCH longer lasting and much quicker.

I BOUGHT THIS FLAT IRON RIGHT WHEN IT CAME OUT AND IT WAS SHOWN ON TV, IT LOOKED LIKE THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS A BIT EXPENSIVE ($130). wELL I GOT 6 OR 7 GREAT MONTHES OUT OF IT AND THEN I BROKE (CANT REMEMBER HOW THOUGH). sI THEN I BOUGHT THE SEDU FROM THIS WEBSITE A ABSOLUTLEY LOVE IT (WAY MORE THAN THE MAXIGLIDE). I REALIZED THE MAXIGLIGE WAS WAY TO HEAVY AND GOT ME TIRED TO EASILY, WHEN I GOT THE SEDU I HAD NO PROBLEM. i RECOMED THE SEDU MORE BUT I DEFIANTLY LOVE TO STEAM MY HAIR WITH THE MAXIGLIDE, iT WAS REALLY FUN!

Product Rating: 2 Not Long lasting :o(
Reviewer: Nikkie from TX  Tue Aug 01 2006

I bought it 1-2 months ago. At first it made the hair shined after each use. Then the cermanic wore out over the coarse of 1 month and it became less shinny ... and more frizzy straight. The steamer started to get clogged.... even with cleaning. Now... after just 2 months... it only heats up the bottom plate of the flat iron. Very disappointed. The extra small flat iron that comes with it is worthless. Both iron takes 3-5 minutes to heat up. So, unless you are rich and have money to spend every month on a new iron.... dont buy it. I never dropped this iron once... it just died on its own. :o(

Product Rating: 5 Maxiglide straightener
Reviewer: anonymous from OH  Mon Jul 31 2006

This straightener works awesome compared to other straighteners. I have extremely coarse and thick hair. When I used the other straighteners, my ends looked so split and dry. My hair also didn't look straight, it looked like it had been flattened with the kinks still in it. I won't use any other straightener because this one is gold! I actually have two; one for home and one for college. Two recommendations I can give when using this straightener are: always put on a thermal protective spray before, and do NOT go above the heat setting 6. The extreme heat temperatures will damage your hair so bad, and it will be very ungodly hard to repair!

Product Rating: 4 Pretty good!

Honestly, I only got the straightener because it was on sale. It works wonders though! Instantly takes away my frizz - The only qualm I have with it though is that it doesn't stay that way all day. Using the "steam technology" makes my hair more 'fluffy' than smooth and silky, so I honestly don’t use it. But if you keep a brush in your purse and have time to brush it once or twice throughout the day, it'll work! Just don't expect this to make your hair as flat/thin as paper.. :/

Product Rating: 2 Eh...

After seeing the Maxiglide on TV, I was expecting an amazing product. I was naive and fell for another informercial scam. This thing is just like any ordinary straightener; there are no specialities. I had to go over the strip of hair at least 4 times for it to be decent. I have thick hair, but my trusty 20 dollar straighteners worked better than this. I only bought the thing yesterday and am going to return it as soon as possible. I am better off using something from Revlon or Conair.

Just try it and make your own decision.

I LOVED the maxiglide as soon as i saw the commercial on tv. i got it for christmas this year and it worked wonders on my really thick. wavy hair.
the only problem? after a while the plates got dirty and when i tried to clean the junk off, it wouldnt come off.
this is a great straightener but i'd only recommened it to someone who doesn't mind scrubbing at the plates to get the crap off.

Product Rating: 4 I love it

i got the maxiglide as a present from my mom since my old hair straightener broke. i was so siked to try it because i saw the commercial for it on tv. it worked great for about a month and a half, until i noticed my hair was getting drier than ever before. my ends were burnt to a crisp n it wuld stay sleek for about 30 secs until it started frizzing again. it takes me about an hour to straighten my hair which is incredibly thick n frizzy. this did not solve any of my problems to try n get the sleek look i desperately wanted, and thought i'd get with this straightener. the pins have pulled out at least half of my hair. i do nopt reccomend this straightener. it's a waste of money.

Product Rating: 1 what a piece of crap
Reviewer: chichi from Long Island NY  Thu Jul 27 2006

I bought this on a whim when I saw it on the infomercial. It came pretty quick and I was so excited to use it. First few times it was good, then the light wouldnt stop flashing, it would not heat up after only using it about 6 times. Ended up getting a new one and it was horrible, it pulled my hair out and it had chips on it. My hair is not extremely curly or wavy, its usually pretty easy to straighten my hair in the past but this piece of crap is the worst thing you could ever buy. I would like to find that guy in the infomercial that was selling this and hit him over the head with it. What a waste of $100 bucks!!

Product Rating: 5 Its a wonder
